  1. Came across this link today about the upcoming 2012 Camaro V6 engine. Seems a little strange (or genius) that they are abandoning the exhaust manifold and housing it altogether in a single integral design. Although it would make for very easy custom exhaust manifolds I wonder if this will lock the amount of header tuning that most people are used to. http://www.motorward.com/2011/05/2012-chevy-camaro-v6-engine-detailed-video/
  2. All DOT helmets have to meet the same specs so supposedly they should all protect your head the same. Personally I like Arai mostly because they are the most comfortable for my noggin, but like 310z said it's all personal pref. Dunno about a used helmet though, have you taken a whiff of your own helmet after a day of riding?
  3. Shhh, don't say anything. I'd like to pick up one of those cars used for $500.
  4. Guess my sarcasm didn't come across so well. That ghia is sick. I am suprised more people don't build them out for road racing more. They have some nice classic lines.
  5. This makes Ghias cool. Kind of.
  6. Whoops, upon further reading I guess this company has some major "delivery" issues. Mods, feel free to delete this posting. I shall make a note to research more before posting fiction.
  7. Just came across these on the LS1tech forums. Didn't know they made them for LS motors too. http://araoengineering.com/LSX.htm
  8. Thanks for the quick answer Tony. This all makes that EROD motor seem like a bargain in terms of all the headache of finding all the little piece you need just to be legal. In terms of your IQ observation, I think the ratio sounds about right. 1:2=50%. Only about 50% of it will make sense when it flows down the pike.
  9. Ok, so just to clarify (and hopefully not muddy the waters more)–if I am swapping in a motor from a '03 350z from Michigan(for example) into my California 260z, as long as I have all the emissions equipment from the 350z it should be ok. I'll check into swaps in more detail with the refs as the time gets closer, but just wanted to see if anyone knew offhand. Also, sorry for asking about all these swaps in the L6 forum, I found this thread searching around and didn't realize it was in this section. But at least I used the search function!
  10. Does a motor swapped with all the smog equipment have to be a CA designated car? Meaning not a 49 state vehicle or does that not make a difference. Just wondering when sourcing a donor vehicle if I should bother with the out of state distributors.
  11. Are swaps illegal there? Or is it like California where you need all the smog tech?
  12. Never really thought about this combo before, heck never even thought about Celicas period. But now that I see them together, it all makes sense now...
  13. Or if this is a racing class or some kind of exhibition run? They do get sideways alot
  14. This would make a great 2nd car after the Z.
  15. Just curious to know if anyone with pre-75 Z's with swaps have been pulled over and "caught" with an engine swap. I know if you have an RB you would be pretty much screwed.
  16. I have the Miller Pro-Hobby and haven't had any problems with it. I got it for $139. I have found some reviews about some people complaining about the sensors getting covered (since there are only 2) but no problems for me thus far.
  17. Just saw this and had no idea this was an event. I am guessing a highside would hurt less at this event, but prob not by much.
  18. That's a tough call, though odds are you will be able to find a willing buyer for the mustang at 15-18k than a Z at that price. So in the future, you may not have as much to trade with if you get tired of the Z, despite how awesome a build it looks to be. Usually us Z owners like to do the build ups (or at least the dreaming up) of our own Z's. Just the dollar and cents of it.
  19. That last posting is pretty cool. It's like having a motorcycle swing arm at all four corners! Rock crawling makes going slow look like alot of fun.
  20. Dragging up an old thread, I recently watched a few rock crawler videos (those RC versions are awesome looking too) and they are overwhelmingly solid axle front and rear. Is there a particular advantage that a solid axle would have? At first glance, it seems an IFS and IRS would allow the vehicle more stability when going up and over extreme angles. Sorry, I know rock crawling is about as far away from Z's as you can get.
  21. Just came across this on jalopnik. Pretty interesting, I wonder if they would ever make the motor available for sale by itself. http://jalopnik.com/5703588/kmv4-a-mini+small-block-for-motorcycles
  22. Hey all, came across this article today and found it be pretty interesting and easily digested. The port sizes they talk about here are pretty staggering, but from what I read it's not all about the big numbers http://www.enginebuildermag.com/Article/1482/drag_racing_cylinder_head_selection.aspx
  23. A friend of mine sent me this link today. I wonder if they only make plenums for Ford engines. http://www.compsystems.com.au/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=104:apsp&catid=2:ecu&Itemid=2
  24. Dang, my car is a early '74 260z. It has the newer dash in it. Not sure if these are going to fit. Any ideas?
