  1. Please keep us updated about that kit. I am having a ***** of a time trying to find a master or a rebuild.
  2. Not sure if there will be a difference in how the insurance company works in your state, but when I had my motorcycle stolen they determined the value based on replacement cost. They said they checked 3 venues (whatever that means) to find a comparable machine to determine what the market replacement value was. Luckily in LA everything is way overpriced so they paid me out above blue book, also my bike was not quite 2 years old so they prob checked in with the dealers. Depending on the year of your bike and the demand in the area you are in, you may be able to recover enough to replace the bikes. Good luck with your claim.
  3. I think this might be a new sport. Would make finding enough land for a track much easier.
  4. Digging up an old thread here, but I came across this as I was looking up v6 exhaust design. I don't speak Chinese so I have no idea what it's about but the car does sound good. Better than any Fiero I ever heard. Since v6's have different firing orders and less cylinders, how would you tune the headers to sound similar to what a flat plane crank or 180 degree headers emulate–that high crisp rev sound? Would it be a matter of equal length tubes? http://tw.myblog.yahoo.com/ferrari-owner/article?mid=9902
  5. Pretty funny. I was waiting for the burnout.
  6. Came across these guys when I was on another forum. Interesting method of manifold fabrication. Seems a little bulky tho, but I assume a CNC bend is prob as smooth as it gets. http://www.steedspeed.com/bmw_e36_m3_exhaust_manifolds
  7. I've heard rumor the r200 might survive behind it
  8. I believe the turbo engines made around 210-220 hp stock with a tiny turbo and no intercooler. From what I gather if you size up your fuel delivery system, retune ecu, exhaust, and add some boost you should get fairly close to 300 no problem. That being said, this all on top of swapping this engine in first place. I like this motor mainly because it's fairly simple, really overbuilt, and tiny. Its no lsx motor in terms of bang for the buck, but it does have a character all it's own. I'm guessing the guy in that article did alot of that to his engine for the same reason I would-because it looks cool as hell!
  9. Found this, while not cheap by any means, it's not as expensive as I thought they would be. Especially compared to some of the Tomei RB26 engines I have seen. http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=46548 Anyone going to be first to put it in a Z?
  10. I believe the most common thing is to swap flywheels and use the DETT trans. I could be wrong, but I think its easier than getting the Z32 trans on an L motor. Also I think the later model Z31 5 speeds were internally the same as the Z32 units. Again I could be wrong about this.
  11. The more I read about this overlooked engine, the more I like. Especially the part where you can find a million of them in the yards for dirt. Here's a pretty nice build up I came across over at the Maxima forums. http://forums.maxima.org/supercharged-turbocharged/624282-3rd-gen-turbo-build.html
  12. I am glad he made it, but the hands are just too funny.
  13. Thanks! I guess this will be my first thread that's off to the tool shed.
  14. Has anyone seen this before? Sounds too good to be true. Grooving a combusted chamber netting that much? http://pesn.com/2005/10/13/9600187_Design_to_Improve_Turbulence_in_Combustion_Chambers/
  15. Nevermind, found it. Guess I didn't scroll down far enough on google.
  16. Coolest 944 I ever saw. I wasn't aware there were flares like this for it. Anyone know anything more?
  17. I believe this was done by a member of this forum as well, and even he didn't really recommend it. His looked ALOT better than that link tho. http://www.pape.ws/allan_and_rosanne/Z-Car_Stuff/Swapping%20a%20C4%20Corvette%20IRS%20Into%20a%20240Z_files-Scottie/Swapping%20a%20C4%20Corvette%20IRS%20Into%20a%20240Z.htm
  18. There are so many things wrong with this build, the only right thing is how great the step by step video is.
  19. Came across this company selling their cars on ebay. A bit strange, not sure what to make of it other than it sure looks like it has Civic tailights. http://www.local-motors.com/rallyFighter.php
  20. Sorry, gratuitous post, but I do love me the sound of this engine! V4's always sound awesome. I wish they were more of a standard engine format for cars (or bikes for that matter!).
  21. After you mentioned that (VE and such) I searched around the web and came across a pretty good discussion about this in LS1 tech. There was a good point that even though more valves and variable cam timing makes a higher VE more streetable, those aren't the only factors involved. And that there are no rules for displacement on the street–just emissions and mpg. http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/advanced-engineering-tech/724636-100-horsepower-per-liter-naturally-aspirated.html
  22. Pretty good, looks like its a cruise lap.
  23. Still sounds wicked though...
  24. I think its either used, tuning shop, or DIY for the harness. You might try Eric for a used harness in good condition. He seems to have a ton of Z stuff, nice guy to boot. http://www.zparts.com/
  25. I think that head was sectioned to showcase the new ports, at least I hope it is. I can imagine the cost for a head job if not! I wonder how you are supposed to do any porting with those bends in an enclosed head. Maybe that's the answer: you're not!
