  1. I was writing down a wish list for all the gauges I wanted and I realized I was running out of room on the dash for them–seeing as how I want to keep the stereo and the ac controls. So I did a search and came across people remote mounting their head units and rewiring their face plates to be placed just about anywhere they wanted. It probably looks simpler to do than it actually is (and is probably not as convenient to use), but I think it's a pretty cool idea for making room on the dash for more gauges (love them bells and whistles ). Anyone here do something like this? http://www.virtualjeepclub.com/showthread.php?39746-Stereo-remote-mounted-face-plate (scroll about halfway down for pics) and for an example of one that didn't go bad http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/car-audio/32881-remote-faceplate-turned-out-really-nice-check-out.html
  2. I've been noticing alot more people have been installing the GPS speedometer from Speedhut. I found some older threads in other sections from a few years back talking about how slow these gauges are to respond, or how they won't work in a tunnel , etc. Has a couple years in tech development made a big difference with these types of gauge's accuracy? Just curious as it would make installation of a new speedometer a snap.
  3. This has been brought up before. Sometimes he can be a hard guy to reach, but I am happy with the products I purchased from him. Here's another thread that goes over this stuff in detail. http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php?/topic/62367-anyone-heard-from-ross-lately/
  4. Yep, you are +39 mm out from center. Here is a link I found that gives a pretty good idea of offsets vs backspacing and how to measure. https://www.rsracing.com/tech-wheel.html
  5. I came across this article about intake manifold setups and how they basically work. It's written with American V-8s in mind, but the principles should still apply. That and there is a pic of a really crazy looking viper engine intake. http://www.enginebuildermag.com/Article/3107/intake_manifolds_from_mild_to_wild.aspx
  6. One thing I hate going for is the dealer oil change that's required for your warranty at 600 miles. They charged me $297 to change my oil on my last bike. Needless to say, my bike wasn't the only thing feeling freshly lubed after that...
  7. Whoops! Haha, didn't scroll down that far under the 'locations' section. I think I got lost after Orange county...
  8. Dragging up a semi-old post, I came across these kits when I did a google search for after market AC. Seems like you still have to reuse the old blower motor with these. Anyone here use them? Here it is for the 240z http://www.nostalgicairparts.com/air-conditioning/datsun-240-1971-1974-indash-ac-system-402.php And for the 260-280z http://www.nostalgicairparts.com/air-conditioning/datsun-260z-280z-1974-1978-indash-ac-system-403.php
  9. Just went there yesterday after I got my insurance check for my stolen motorcycle. They are located in California only as far as I can tell. The prices they list on their site is really the price you get it for, I was amazed at the great deal I got. It was about 2k under what the local Honda dealership quoted me and WITHOUT the annoying haggling! Can't really vouch for their service department–I've seen some mixed reviews people have had on the bike forums–but as far as getting a bike, they are a pretty good deal. Just wanted to pass along the info as I never knew about them until recently. http://www.otdcyclesports.com/
  10. Hi all, I am in the market for a decent rotary tool. I just wanted something to do a little clean up on an intake I bought (shaving unused stud holes, smoothing casting flash, etc). I have been looking at some of the Dremels and the Proxxon tools, but have come across alot of mixed reviews on both. Are they adequate for the job? Or should I be looking for something a bit more powerful (and $$$) like the Foredom tools. Thanks for any info.
  11. I like that dome light idea. I wish someone would create a self destruct mechanism, because if I can't have my car, no thieves will either!
  12. So yesterday I had my sportbike stolen from my building garage. Guys came in when the gate was open, cut my chain, and whoosh! Whisked my bike away. I'm plenty pissed about it, but the bike is easily replaceable (with insurance payout, I hope) but my Z not so much. What are you guys doing in terms of theft protection beyond a car alarm? Is Lojack available for older cars?
  13. Also, Watanabe R-types only come in sizes up to 16". They have another model, the RS, but it has a much shallower look to the rim. I think Rota and Vintage Wheel are the only readily available 8 spoke wheels with 17 inch sizing.
  14. I am having the same issue as well. I am on Firefox v 3.5.8.
  15. As they say, with time and money, anything is possible...
  16. I'm glad someone from this board got the axles at least. Those things are getting rarer by the day. Watch out who rebuilds them, there are some threads on here about some of the remanufactured ones out there. -Wes
  17. Is there a shop that specializes in building the RB engine in the SoCal area? Looking for a place that would be like RIPS in Australia, or what Robello and Sunbelt are the L series engines. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!
  18. Posted a junkyard alert yesterday about a 300zx in the sunland valley Pick Your Part. Don't know if someone raided it by now.
  19. Already have one with axles. Wish I saw this 4 months ago!
  20. Not sure where I should post this, admins please move if this is the wrong forum. I saw a red 87 300zx turbo at the Pick Your Part today at 4pm in Sunland. Still had the turbo and the diff w/axles. No transmission though. It's located in the back-left. The row just behind the winnebago motor homes. I was looking for a set of the axles a few months back and had a hard time finding a car like this. Just thought I would give someone a heads up.
  21. This is one of my all time favorites that I've seen posted here and there. Super clean and purpose built! http://speedhunters.com/archive/2010/02/10/car-spotlight-gt-gt-woodvillage-s30.aspx http://www.geocities.jp/kuni_s30z/index.html
  22. http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/pts/1572665455.html Almost sounds too good to be true. 350z engine and trans.
  23. http://www.crateenginedepot.com/store/LC3-Northstar-Cadillac-STSV-and-XLRV-17802896-P2247C53.aspx Pretty pricey buy in! Though having a supercharged twin cam V8 with a warranty is pretty great. Imagine pulling into a caddy dealership with your Z.
  24. Hey all, I've been looking around on tirerack and have noticed some of the more high end performance tires are no longer available in 17's (specifically larger than 255s). Anyone have an issues getting larger size tires? I'm hoping 17's don't go the way of the 16 inch rim. edit: Found alot more, I guess I have to stop searching only Tire Rack and Discount Tire!
