  1. Did this just start after the valve job? From what I've read so far the problem has to be with something you have changed since the valve job. Did you happen to change heat ratings on the plugs? Try colder ones. Are you sure the head gasket did not hang into the combustion chamber? Something is glowing in there, plug electrode, part of the gasket, something. I don't think the cam would cause this problem unless the overlap was really small, like zero! Joe
  2. I was wondering if anyone has used an intercooler from a 86/87 Grand National on their L28t setup? It must be pretty efficient if GN guys can get the 3.8 in a 3600lb car into the 11's using it.
  3. I see these alot with nothing else in the message. What do they mean?
  4. There is one thing that everyone is overlooking here. Using a 240 as a daily driver isn't such a good idea on Long Island. Even the cleanest 240 will turn into a rust bucket after 3 winters! Where we live a 240 should only be used as a fair weather car if you want to keep it. Joe
  5. If I remember correctly, Scottie is using a thumbwheel in the GM ECU.
  6. Haven't seen a post from him in a while. Joe
  7. Has anyone used an intercooler from a MK4 Supra? It's the twin turbo's intercooler. Thanks. Joe
  8. I've done both of my cars with aircraft stripper. Works even better if you put a sheet of plastic, like a black plastic garbage bag, over the application while it is working. I used about half the amount of stripper on the second car as I did on the first and it had four different colors on it! Joe

    Its yellow...

Boy am I jealous! My car has been in the bodyshops hands for two years and I gave it to them totally stripped! Maybe they have worked on it for a total of ten hours in that time. NJ is not the place to be if your a car guy and don't do bodywork.
  10. First thing I would do is change the battery cables and clean the terminals on the battery and starter as well as the contact patch on the block for the negative cable. Cheaper than going straight to the starter. Joe
  11. I'm not an expert by any stretch but I am installing a TEC on an 83 turbo Z motor. Here's what I found The hose coming off of the j pipe is for a type of IAC valve. It is the disc shapped valve with the electric connector on it and when no signal is placed on it acts like a huge vaccuum leak! It is used for air to bypass the throttle valve to stabilize idle and is controlled by he stock ECM. You have to disconnect and plug both sides, the j pipe and the manifold. I just got my hands on an N42 manifold and used it instead. Now I will use the port on the jpipe for a BOV. I'm also thinking about plumbing a GM IAC into my manifold. TimZ is using one and said it really helped his idle. Maybe we can trade maps when we get them running? Is your engine stock otherwise? Joe

    billet fuel rail

Why would you weld bungs on it? Just have it drilled to accept o-ring injectors and have the manifold drilled out to accept same. Thats what I did now I have tons of injectors to choose from Joe
  13. Thougth that woould be a problem so I used a 90 degree street elbows, a regular elbow and a two inch nipple. Got all the pieces at Home Depot in the brass section for under five bucks! Joe
  14. Yeah, N42. Brain fade. I was worried there wouldn't be enough metal to tap without a boss. I'll give it a shot today. Thanks! Joe
  15. Just got my N24 manifold back from the machine shop. Had it modified for use with o-ring injectors and a custom fuel rail made. Everything looked very good except when I mounted the manifold I see that the PCV valve is in a diffrernt location and now goes directly into the turbo! Is anyone noit using a PCV with a turbo motor? If I plug the port am I going to wind up with a real mess from the breather? I really don't want to have to go back to the machine shop if I don't have to, can't imagine how much more time this would take. Thanks. Joe
  16. This is for a TEC II. There instructions call for connections described above. Thanks. Joe
  17. I'm trying to finish wiring the turbo motor and have hit a snag. Of the three pins on the TPS, which one gets 5v, which gets ground, and which is the TPS sensing wire? Thanks. Joe
  18. I'm trying to finish wiring the turbo motor and have hit a snag. Of the three pins on the TPS, which one gets 5v, which gets ground, and which is the TPS sensing wire? Thanks. Joe
  19. Does the polarity of the wires make a difference when wiring the injectors? I mean does it matter which terminal on the injectors connects to + voltage?
  20. Tim, Which wires did you use, 7mm, 8mm, 8.5mm, 10mm? Race or conventional?
  21. Thanks Tim, I'll use the same. Where did you get them?
  22. For those using distributorless ignition, What wires did you use? Did you have to make your own or is there an application that has the right length? Oh yeah, I mounted the coils just above where the voltage regulator used to be. It's a 240. Thanks. Joe
  23. Can someone tell me which wire is feeding the ignition resistor that is next to the coil on a 71 240? The wire colors are Black w/white stripe and green w/black stripe. I want to use the feed for a switched 12 volt source for the TEC II and I can't test it because the harness is on my kitchen table! A quick response is greatly appreciated by my wife. Joe
