  1. I would take it somewhere else right away, otherwise it will just drag on and on. Find someone who is hungry and will start right away. Sounds like he is not really interested in it if has been 6 weeks.

    I second this from experience.

My '82 v8 280zx has been in the bodyshop for 2 years now coming this June. I don't understand why. They're charging me full price, but I think it's all the custom work I'm having them do (ie not just molding a body kit and painting the car). Although I miss the hell out of that car, I see it as free storage while I can finish my other projects.

My '83 280zxt - I've given to a painter through a friend of a friend that I was supposed to do bartering work for. I held up on my end, but then he fell through, so he passed the burden to the guy that has the car right now. I gave it to him with most body work completed and the car stripped down - just needed it painted. It's been 7-8 months.

My '77 280z 2+2 - When I lived in Victoria a few years ago, one of the body guys at the dealership I worked at was also a Z guy, and work was slow so he offered to paint my car for cheap. Any time there's any work done to it, it's because I drove 3 hours away from here to work on it myself. He's had it for close to 5 years now.

I'm going to be paying an arm and a leg for the bodywork on my widebody project, so hopefully that won't drag on. Plus, I set out a payment system with the body guy. I will pay him on monthly increments as long as I'm seeing a decent amount of progress. For example, $1000 down, and then increments of $1250 as he works on it. Maybe that could be an idea for you?

  2. Man, did I miss something?

Maybe because they make good get-away vehicles??

(j/k - the car would probably die out a few minutes into persuit for no apparent reason.)

Actually, the one time I was arrested, it was for reckless driving on my R6. Most of the time, I drive pretty laid back in the Zs...unless I'm late for work or something.

*edit* Nevermind, just found the thread responsible for the provocation of this thread.

  3. I've taken a couple of those on test drives at work. They're bad about the clutches in the rear end making noise (at least from what we've seen), so I have to test every driving scenario to duplicate the noise  . Honestly, I was expecting a bit more from them, but turn the TCS off and 2nd gear lights up without trying. They're fun, and the blower whine is exhilarating, but other than that, it's just another mustang...to me anyways. Maybe it's because I drive so freakin' many of them. I personally prefer the '03 / '04 Terminators, but that's me.

  4. OMG! I would have bought that in a heart beat! I would've sent a deposit just to make sure of it!!!

Yeah, but since the price was so cheap I questioned the legitimacy of it and didn't feel comfortable sending a stranger a few hundred dollars to hold on to it for me. Plus he didn't have Paypal, so that made it more difficult. Nevertheless, it sold almost immediately.

  5. Usually from $5500-$6500 on eBay all day long. I found an add on craigslist that was over in TN that had a complete 20k miles ls2/t56 pullout - almost everything included except the wiring harness - for $3600! I posted the pictures of it on this website to make sure it was indeed an LS2, but since it was Easter weekend I went home to visit the family instead of drive up there to pick up the engine *sigh*. Needless to say, someone else (locally I'm sure) beat me to the punch. Sometimes I question my judgement, because I doubt I'll find a deal like that again.

  6. I second that vote. But 3500$? Holy F!

I paid 200$ to have a lawyer get my speeding ticket thrown out...no fees, no fines, no anything. He was part of a network of lawyers that regularly go to traffic court....which helps a lot! They know the DAs and the PDs.

So maybe look for a lawyer that advertises this service in your area, I would hope you don't have to pay 3500$.

That wasn't just for the lawyer - I paid $1500 for the lawyer's services. He was the cheapest AA lawyer I could find that handled traffic cases. I also didn't have insurance or motorcycle license at the time - those two alone were $1500 in surcharges (thank you Texas). The rest were from misc. court fees bullcrap and the speeding charge. Whatever, it's all about money.

  7. I vote lawyer. About 3 years ago I was arrested for reckless driving on my motorcycle. It was kind of a bogus charge, not to mention the ride-along with him that day was a friend of mine, and she told me that the officer was having a crappy day and kind of had it out for me (I guess, wanted to make an example out of me), but without getting into all the details, I hired a lawyer and had the charge reduced from a class b reckless driving to a class c speeding ticket. It cost me $3500 after everything was said and done, but my record is clean.

I know Mikelly went to court representing himself and was able to have the charge dismissed. However, he is an older fella (better image than a teen representing himself) and has been a man of the law before, which I'm sure gives him more leverage and knowledge on the procedures of the judicial system moreso than the average citizen, so I view him as an exception to the rule. Lawyer will be your best bet.

  8. AusTex right here - 183/Anderson Mill area.

Better late than never I guess....I live in between austin and waco. Anyone been to the track we have here in little river?

Little River has had so many traction issues - both times I went there we had to wait for an hour or so as soon as we arrived because cars had hit the wall. I usually go to the Seguin/San Antonio track - you don't want to go anywhere else once you've been there.
