Too bad you're not down here - I have a connection on an '03 Mustang GT with 45,000 miles for $14,300. Just add ESP to that, and you're good to roll. Speaking of which, I've been driving it for the past two weeks or so, and one night when I was on I-35, an SRT-4 pulled beside me, wanting to race me. He had an aftermarket BOV and when he spooled up his turbo, it didn't make a little pssssss noise, but more of a ssshhhhh noice -- it sounded massive. I was in 3rd gear, and he couldn't ever pull ahead of me. It actually suprised me, I figured he'd walk away. But anyways, I'd take a C5 Z06 any day. -
Another tech from work used a reciprocating saw to shave the "dome" off a piston to make it a flat-top. He said it was good for 50 or so passes on a 250 shot.

The only time I ever got a warning for speed was when I had a radar detector. With the detector, I didn't receive any more than two tickets for speeding. I've been driving without one for three years, and I've received roughly 6 additional speeding tickets -- no warnings. I know this makes me sound like an ignorant speed demon, all of the tickets either came from 8mph or under on the highway, or from speedtraps. I've read books on fighting/beating speeding tickets, and they all say that you do have more of a chance for getting a speeding ticket if you have a radar detector, and an even larger one if the officer sees one on your floorboard (thinking that you're trying to hide it.) I feel confident that half of the 6 tickets I received while driving without a radar could've been avoided had I been using a radar. As far as jammers go, check this site out: http://www.radarbusters.com/products/jammers/default.asp I think your best bet for a jammer would be a homemade (illegal) one. From my understanding, I've read that they're illegal because they violate certain FCC laws. Come to think of it, I believe it was the anarchist's cookbook that had instructions on how to build it -- I can't quite remember, though, it's been a while. So Mr. Maudlin, does this mean I'm free? Or can this come back later to haunt me. I'm assuming that since they said the ticket was dismissed, that's the end of it, correct?

Yeah, I'm between the Passport 8500 or the Valentine V-1. From what I've been reading, it seems pretty simple to build a small device to confuse the radar.

DISMISSED!!! (I think) But this was with a complete twist of fait. The judge had to leave early to go to a wedding, so he made his statement about how the court system works, and then let the DA do the rest. There were five of us waiting in the courtroom, and the DA picked us one-by-one into a small office to do the negotiations. While waiting, I found that another person was there to contest a speeding ticket in the EXACT same spot I received mine, at about the same time (12:30 a.m.), and a couple of other people chimed in and said it's a speed trap, and informed me of some other ones around the area. Well, I was last to be picked, and my ticket had two citations on it. The first was for no proof of insurance, and the second was for the speeding. The DA looked at the ticket and said, "So here we have another ticket for no proof of insurance. Did you bring the paper?" After I showed him my proof of insurance, he gave me a lecture on why it's important to keep the proof of insurance with me at all times. After that, he said, "Well, I see you have your proof of insurance, the ticket is dismissed. You can go wait right outside and the clerk will tell you what to do." It all came to me so suddenly, so I stepped out of the courtroom, sat down and waited for the clerk to call me over. I was pretty nervous that they would call me back in, but I wasn't sure if it would be best to tell him I still had another fine, or just let it go. Right when I was thinking that, the clerk came out and told me, "Your ticket is dismissed, you're free to go." Instantly, I shot out of the room, hopped in the '02 Maxima I took over there (not mine, but a Used Vehicle Inspection - Dayum that thing hauls, but anyways...) and flew back over to work...within the speed limit of course. Soooo....I don't think this will come back to haunt me in the future, because the ticket is dismissed, correct? It just sounds too good to be true.

Unfortunately, we're only allowed to attend defensive driving (traffic school) once a year, and took one about 6 months ago to dismiss another ticket, so unless I get permission from the judge, I can only plead deferred adjudication, which means I pay the fine, and as long as I don't get another ticket in 3 months, the ticket will stay off my record. I don't know if this option is offered for construction zone cases, however.

Yeah, I was starting to have my doubts. I remember reading something about jurisdiction that when I was reading through the laws the last time I was going to trial for a speeding ticket, but all I've found so far is just information about Constables. But I've looked on a few other forums, and they're saying the same thing you are, so I guess my memory is a bit hazy. My bad, norm

I was coming over the top of that hill when the officer clocked me. In case you can't read it, that orange sign says END ROAD WORK. Like I said earlier, I'm not sure how it works after the pre-trial. I'm assuming this is where I talk with the DA, and perhaps try some negotiations, and if they fail then they will schedule the actual trial. Norm - I've read the law where it states a ticket written by an officer is void if he was out of his jurisdiction when he saw the offense, so even though I'm going through a loophole, they would still have to obey the law if I can find which one it is, right? I'm with you all, though, in thinking that I'm pretty much screwed for this one. I just can't picture winning one of these, PERIOD. No matter how innocent you are, like Clifton said, the officer could just as easily lie. I'm going to see if I can find that law now.

I know it wasn't a trooper. I was coming back from a long drive from visiting my friend the weekend before he departed for Iraq, so I was tired and I really didn't pay much attention to the officer's uniform. I don't even think I looked at him. But I remember seeing his squad car was white, so that tells me he was either an Austin or Round Rock local cop.

Just to make sure I'm clear on this, a local officer is out of his jurisdiction if he's out of his city limit, right? This picture is from Round Rock's website, highlighting in yellow their city limits: The red dot in the bottom left corner is the relative area I was pulled over at, only about 8 more miles west of that spot. Therefore, if it was a Round Rock local officer that pulled me over, he'd be out of his jurisdiction. However, since I was pulled over in the same county that Round Rock is in, a sheriff or higher would not be out of his/her jurisdiction, correct? Now that I think about it, I believe what I'm going to is the pre-trial tomorrow, so I don't know what happens after that. Every ticket that I'm gone to trial over, I never got past the pre-trial because the District Attorney would always throw me a decent bargain. Either way, I'm sure I'll need to be prepared. I'm going to court tomorrow for my 57/45 speeding ticket. The limit just dropped from 55 to 45, and probably about 200 ft. after that sign is where he clocked me. It was an unfamiliar road, and I didn't catch the sign, but anyways, he also said that I was doing it in a construction zone with workers present. For one, he clocked me before I passed the Construction Zone sign, but pulled me over when I was in it. I've taken a couple of pictures of the area, but for the most part, it's just going to be my word against his. The only argument I have against the officer is that he may be out of his jurisdiction. I was pulled over in Austin, but I think he's a Round Rock (small town next to Austin) officer. I would've looked up his name, but it was too sloppy to read on the ticket. My only clue that he's a Round Rock officer is that the judge he told me to see was a Round Rock judge. So, the following questions are: 1) Will the judge be biased toward the police officer (which I'm assuming), or could my statement create enough of a doubt to possibly drop the construction zone charge? I'll pay for the speeding, but the construction zone is bs. 2) Since the officer selected a Round Rock judge, does that mean that the officer is also a Round Rock officer? (Assuming he's a local, which I'm pretty sure he was) 3) Any other ideas/arguments/suggestions? I would've posted this up sooner, but I was planning to reschedule the court date since I have school tomorrow, and due to procrastination I missed the deadline to turn in a written statement because they closed earlier than normal today. One day when I was driving Kiwi (my '72), I came up to a red light and pulled next to a late model Mustang Cobra (97-ish). Anyways, he hand-motions me to roll my window down (passenger side) so I tell my buddy to go ahead and lower it. He starts complimenting me on the car, and then said he had a '76 at home that he was working on. He asked me if it had a V8, and I said, "Nope, just the 6 banger." Then as soon as the light turns green, he took off and caught me off gaurd. It sounded like he had some work done to the car, but probably not much. Well, 1st gear got me moving relatively quick, 2nd got me neck and neck with him. At this point, my BOV gave away my secret. At the end of 3rd, I had put about 3 car lenghts in between us. At the end of the next light, I think he had a bigger smile than I did. He couldn't stop raving on about how cool that little car is. Anyways, it was a pleasant surprise to see a positive attitude coming from a mustang owner that just got his as handed to him

I've heard a lot of good things about SPEC clutches with the Mustang boys, and a few from the import crowd, but it seems their problem lies in the lt1-style pull-type clutch. I sure came down with a case of "while I'm at it." Instead of just changing out the clutch, I'll be installing remanned CV's, brand new diff. mount insulator, roller cam setup, and about $300 of machine work. I need to stop driving this damn thing.

SPEC doesn't seem to want to help since I'm out of warranty, which I figured anyways. So...I found this McLeod Clutch Disc on Summit for about $175, and I'm assuming this should mate up with my current PP. Anyone have any comments / experience with it?
