  1. But most likely if the motor takes a dump, we'll lose the car, so the engine won't be up for raffle any longer.
  2. The 3.9 V-8 found in the Lincoln LS and the new Thunderbirds is a lightweight, high-revving, decently powered V-8. I'd like to see what those are capable of.
  3. I think the Acura RSX would be a good choice -- you already have a FWD car, so that's obviously not an issue for you.
  4. I crack up to this one every time The real wabbit season
  5. I forgot, if you're in a Z-club, you get a 10% discount, so 58.95 - 5.895 = 53.06, which saves you $6.89
  6. I think I'm more amused by his description than the tail lights
  7. For the s130 they're cheaper, but otherwise this site is 100 cents cheaper!! *edit* Bah, you beat me to it!
  8. Mine came in and look great. Thanks!!!
  9. And of course, you may injure yourself or break a sweat trying to carry the mower, so you need something to transport it.
  10. It came back! Just got a notice in the mail stating that I have another court date scheduled for May 9th (I think) for the speeding ticket. I stopped by the office at lunch, but go figure, only on Wednesdays do they close at 12:00. I hope this just turns out to be something minor. The thing that worries me is that I have no proof/signatures that they dismissed the ticket. I asked them if I needed to sign anything and they told me that I didn't have to, and I was free to go. Lewis -- please advise!!! I'm assuming it was filed without prejudice, but for what reason would it be brought back up again? Ahhh...this stinks
  11. Definatly balance the wheels, and take them to a place that can re-index your tires (also called "road force"). Also, just because the vibration still exists at 60mph in neutral doesn't exclude the fact that it could still be a driveline vibration. The driveshaft, rear end, etc. are still rotating, so I would also advise that you check your driveline angles. But first, I would definately get your wheel assemblies balanced and re-indexed. You may even have a bent rim that's causing the problem -- I wouldn't think so since you say it drives smooth before 50 and after 75, but then again, I've seen some weird stuff happen with vibrations. Good luck
  12. Earlier I said that I wanted one, and possibly two -- can I get 4?
  13. Would you consider bringing in that Rx-7 for a little extra side cash? Seriously...
  14. I think the one Alf is referring to is when Homer is "Mr. X" and is spying on everyone in Springfield and revealing everything on his website.
  15. Gotta love that rear visibility.
  16. How about this eclipse pulling too many Gs? http://videos.streetfire.net/video/F4517542-EE59-4C7E-893A-09948329A895.htm lol
  17. The headers thing is bs. As long as you don't have a leak, you should be fine. I remember 1968 is an important year for smog, I just can't remember if it's when cars started coming with smog equipment from the factory, or if 1968 is the year that cars are subject to the required smog equipment under the hood. 1982 and newer vehicles are subject to an emissions test (if inspection station is equipped), so just keep going to the small gas stations that only do safety inspections. I believe Dallas is using an ASM test (where they put your car on the dyno and use the sniffer), so I'd stay the hell away from there . Other than that, an air cleaner will not fail inspection (from what I remember), but I do remember something about a hot air riser -- I'm just not used to working with them. All I can remember is that it's something that is supposed to route warm air to the carburetor for emissions purposes, I believe. If I remember correctly, the only thing under the hood you're supposed to have a smog pump, egr valve/tube/etc., good belts, non-leaking master cylinder with proper fluid level, and non-leaking p/s pump with proper fluid level (to hell with the alternator, waterpump, etc.) All I've done in the past was just slip them a few extra $$$ and they wouldn't argue. Sounds like your last gas station will be your best bet.
  18. I've made contact with him. He constructed the fiberglass himself over a duration of 4 years. Here's what he told me: He gave me directions to the car's location, so I'll probably be checking it out tomorrow, or when weather permits. I told him I would be taking pictures on behalf of a forum dedicated to modified Zs, and he told me to ask if any of you were interested in a front clip he made for his 280z. I didn't get a price from him.
  19. Weird, mine says my v8 280zx sounds like a lion. What's with the affiliation with cats?
  20. I e-mailed him to see if I can get an address so I can swing by and check it out -- it's been 12 hours and nothing yet.
  21. Man, I remember those "nothing but warranty" days at my old dealership, where I would be lucky to get 40 hours in two weeks -- a lot of pointless squeaks, rattles, or vibrations that I had to deal with, and a few times it was because coins, a paperclip, etc. was in a cupholder or something! But ever since I moved to Austin, I've been booking 65-70 hours a week (average). So far, my highest week was 98.9 hours -- I would've had barely over 100 hours, but I was multi-teched on a job that I did pretty much all of the work on, so they split the hours 50/50. Anyways, that was still a really nice paycheck! Hopefully you'll see the same kind of change. Over here, instead of having team leaders like my old shop had, we have a central Dispatch for everyone -- I like that setup a lot better. Except for when I accidentally typed my team leader's password -- haha, it was so much fun until I got caught. But anyways...good luck on the new job.
  22. Are the pictures too dark? They looked great on my girlfriend's laptop, but when I look at them on my computer, they look kinda dark. Let me know if you can't make them out so I can increase the brightness.
  23. Well, that's the name of my '77 280z. She's been in paint jail for a long time now, but I can finally see some light at the end of the tunnel. This weekend, my friend and I sanded everything down with 80 grit. The bondo is pretty self explanatory...anyways, primered it, resanded with 180 grit, primered again, and called it quits. All that remains is to sand it down again with 400, do some minor touchups and other body modifications, and she'll be ready for the sprayer. *Warning: several pictures of pointless bodywork progress on a 2+2* Lotsa fun with the bondo bucket: And after sanding down with 180 Talk about a lot of sweat and blood (damn license plate bracket) going into that car -- yes, I realize I'm polishing a turd, but for some reason, the girlfriend wants it, so at least it's an excuse to have another Z in the family.
