  1. So are there any issues other than the speedo? Vibrations, leaks, odds&ends?

    Ok,,

Yeah, the site went down just a few hours after I donated. I figured you said, "Ok, we got his money, now boot his @ss." Or something along those lines.
  3. I know that last negotiation was screwed - I was part of the crew. A couple of weeks before the race, I remembered telling Mike (one of the other crew members) that even if we could keep them off the bottle, when it boils down to the last race, they'll be crying for it and want it back in...otherwise they wouldn't have brought it in the first place. To make it a driver's race, on the last neg., we should've had 2 lenghts and ran them all motor, but then again, why should they be punished when our car was the one with the misfire?
  4. Yeah, don't let the Pinks crew give you an accurate representation of Hybridz. Hybridz is an intelligent forum. Nevermind those phuckoffs you saw on TV - they don't know the first thing about building a car. In fact, here's a quote from one of the administrators: So if you could, for the benefit of yourself and everyone else on this board, just forget that episode ever took place.
  5. I really should've bought the flame-retardant suit.
  6. that puts it into better perspective
  7. It's like taking Jessica Alba and covering her in jewelry, overdoing the makeup, and adding a few tats. They killed the sexyness... I wouldn't hit it
  8. I believe a car manufacturer actually has muffler bearings...lexus, maybe? I'll ask my boss tomorrow if I remember, he's the one that told me about them, because he said they ruined the joke.
  9. Yeah, but they're not torqued to spec...I'm not impressed.
  10. I've worked on a 9-3 before - it was fairly easy. I know what you're talking about - I don't know why they set up the engine/tranny like that -- or what they gain out of it. The 9-3 was nothing compared to what you had to go through.
  11. Wiring was not the culprit of the misfire - the plugs were. I've seen you post over, and over, and over about how the shabby wiring job cost us the race, but if you remember Garrett's post after he got the car back, he reported that the misfire was gone after replacing the plugs. Also, that wire running to the coil that had shorted and melted the insulation, was not like that when the misfire had taken place. Mike had that car for quite a while before it was picked up - he could have been fiddling around with something in the engine bay or inside the car, causing the firewall to cut into the wire. I believe within the last hour of going to the race, he swapped in his own MSD unit to make sure it wasn't causing the misfire, so after he got the car back he could have been swapping the other unit back in and caught the wire on the firewall. There's no telling what caused it to happen, but it wasn't shorted during the time of the race. Sure, the wiring could have been better, but that's not what caused the engine to miss. I, along with the rest of the team, spent hours the night/morning before the race tracing wires in hopes of finding a short.
  12. It seems like the best ones that I can remember were Wix, Purolator (what I run), Napa Gold, and Motorcraft.
  13. I'd listen to Sven, he knows what he's talking about. The diesel techs are always flooded with 6.0s...it's rediculous how many problems those engines have. FWIW, 2 of the techs own Ford diesels, and they're all 7.3s.
  14. For some reason, something seems odd about it. I guess I'm just accustomed to more subtle lines...kinda like this Peugeot concept: I'm not sure if it ever hit production.
  15. The engine was missing badly...nitrous wouldn't have helped. We wouldn't have needed nitrous to win had the engine been running as planned.
  16. The way my exhaust setup is, the collector goes straight down between the frame and the intermediate shaft, then makes its 90* bend towards the rear of the car. I can picture it working with these headers as they have a similar design, but I doubt it would work because you're absolutely right, that intermediate shaft is a b*tch.
  17. Well, obviously the 300zxtt didn't stand a chance. Didn't you see all of the stickers on that Saturn??
  18. Actually, has anyone here tried the full-length S&S 1 3/4" headers in the 280zx? Or at least any pictures of some in an s30? I'll be building a higher hp engine in the future, but I don't want my exhaust system to restrict a lot of the potential.
  19. I bought a pair of 2.5" electric cutouts for that purpose, but I really don't have any room to mount them. From the tranny to the tailpipe, my exhaust hangs too low to mount the cutouts - they would sit around 3 inches off the ground, so they would be destroyed in no time. The only place I may be able to possibly squeeze them in would be between the headgasket and when then pipes make the 90* bend to run parallel with the chassis, but even then, the space is ridiculously limited. I'm planning on buying a couple of Dynomax Ultraflow bullet mufflers to replace the Flowmaster Super Delta 40 series in hopes of increasing exhaust flow as much as possible, and hopefully eliminating the horrible resonance noise. Since the bullets are straight-through mufflers, I probably won't bother with cutouts. 280w/383 - Do you have a full exhaust system on your Zx, or does it just simply end behind the front tires?
  20. I'm pretty sure I didn't pay near that much for clevite bearings from O'Reilly's. I could be mixing up my v8 rebuild with my L6 rebuild, but I would check there before you pay $200 for a set of bearings from Black Dragon.
  21. :lmao: :lmao: Couldn't hold that one in. I wouldn't be suprised if I woke the neighbors up.
  22. I went with the JTR headers - they work great, but I wanna take it further than 1 5/8" primaries. From what I can find, it looks like I'll have to live with it.
