  1. I was thinking that since this was a local ad, the tv would be somewhere here in Austin. I'm sure you're right, though, because that ad seems way too suspicious to me. Thanks for the heads up.
  2. My girlfriend had one of her plants on my television when she decided to water it...yeah. Well, water ran down into the tv and fried it. So, now I'm in the market for a new television, and I've been looking at the 56" Samsung DLP HDTV, which I can pick up at Best Buy for $2000. However, I was looking at craigslist over here, and I found this ad: http://austin.craigslist.org/ele/178253152.html The deal looks very attractive, but just doesn't ad up. At Best Buy, it is priced at $3500, but this guy wants $2300 less than that. The only description he gives is copied and pasted. I didn't know if this was a new (to me) scam that somebody else may be familiar with. I e-mailed him, and am currently awaiting his response. What are your thoughts?

Kind of reminds me of a BMW without the signature grill.
  4. Golf can be relaxing if your expectations are low. In high school, I went to state in golf each year, held high expectations, and pretty much was a nervous wreck after each golf season (well, does it really ever end?). As soon as I was out of high school and just went out to the course to hit a ball around for a while, not under any pressure, it was soooo much more relaxing. I enjoy fishing, but usually I have to bring a buddy / girl with me.
  5. Oh my god! AAAAhhahahahahahaa! That's so frickin' hilarious! It's times like this I wish I had cable. Thanks...I needed that!
  6. I say the new Z06 -- I've read some of your posts where you rave on and on about how badass they are...and I agree 100% -The new Z06 a great improvement over the C5, which you've grown fond of (I don't think I read why you sold it), -it is still quicker than the new GT500, and handling will be no contest -I believe the Cadillac is pretty much the vette platform, but IMO the vette has the looks, and is probably a bit lighter -I beat a C55 AMG with my v8 280zx (and I wasn't at full throttle either) -I would say the 911 would be a close contender, and I really don't know too much about the new beemers...and from what I remember, WOT is supposed to sound like heaven in the new Z06.
  7. Definately worth a double take! Goodness!!
  8. Well, this isn't the source that I originally found, but: "After all these experiences, von Goertz became a consultant for Nissan in 1963 to work on the Silvia 1600 sports coupe (derivative of the open Fairlady 1600), which debuted at the 1964 Tokyo Motor Show. With that project under his belt von Goertz was then assigned to Katayama's pet project, the creation of a sports car for the U.S. market. In addition to von Goertz, Nissan also employed another outside resource, Yamaha, in the development process, but the project hit snags, mostly revolving around the 2-liter engine, and Nissan put it on the back burner. Almost immediately Yamaha took the prototype model to Toyota, and the Japanese auto giant revitalized the project. Eventually the car that would emerge from their combined efforts was the Toyota 2000GT. Meanwhile von Goertz left Nissan's employ, and the Nissan American sports car program was thoroughly revamped. Oddly it was the public introduction of the Toyota 2000GT that got the Nissan program back on track. The Toyota model legitimatised the sports/GT design concept, and Katayama, who had ascended to president of Nissan North America, pushed hard to move the project forward. He was the perfect man to conceptualize the car, because he was both an auto enthusiast and a marketing executive. He knew a technologically interesting car like the Toyota 2000GT might look good on paper, but its complexity and high price would doom it to low sales. " I was off just a bit Original link: http://www.modernracer.com/classics/datsun240z.html
  9. I remember reading history on the Z-car, and if I remember correctly, Mr. K first introduced the Z-car concept to Nissan, but they rejected the idea. He then went to Toyota, and that's how the 2000gt began, but its production was limited. Then somehow Nissan accepted the project, and enter the Z car. I don't think this is 100% accurate, but should be the gist of it. Let me see if I can find the source.
  10. Awe come on, it's a compliment to people. One day when I was in Corpus Christi, I saw a really clean Porsche 914 in someone's driveway. I stopped, knocked on the guy's door, and asked if I could take a few pictures. He told me , "Sure, I can back out the one's in the garage if you want some pictures of those also." He opened the door to show me his 930 and 911. I think the expression on my girlfriend's face kinda forced him to give us a ride in the 930. Verrrrry nice I'm sure the owner of the Porsche's was happy that I stopped by -- I know I sure as hell was!
  11. I've always used Microsoft Paintbrush -- just hit ctrl+w, and then type in what percentage you would like to shrink it down to. I've downloaded a resize program before to see if there was any advantage and it was loaded with spam. If it's just something simple that needs to be resized, I don't see why Paintbrush won't do the trick -- it has been for me.
  12. I saw Slayer at Ozzfest a couple of years ago in San Antonio. I thought they put on a good show, but I couldn't enjoy it as much because they were on main stage and I didn't have pit tickets. Oh well, thank god for second stage
  13. Depending on how low on cash I am, I generally work between 60-70 hours a week...most of the time it's more than 70 hours. So far, the most hours I've worked consecutively is 25 (26 if you count the 30 min. drive up and back) from 7:00a.m. to 5:00 a.m. Man, that was a crazy night.
  14. Good lord that sounds amazing!
  15. Every Used Vehicle Inspection I've done on a Saturn has always ended up being wholesaled, which means there were so many problems for the Used Car Department to fix, that after the repairs it wouldn't be worth trying to sell for profit. In fact, some of the problems I remember from the last Saturn with 115,000 miles include: tachometer not functional, water temp gauge not functional, motor mounts were shot, clutch was badly slipping, front main seal leaking, and a few other things I can't remember. In fact, I remember I had it idling by my lift while I was writing an estimate to repair all of the problems I found, when it started spewing coolant everywhere. In short, my experience with Saturns (pre-owned) has caused me to steer away from them. Just like what Brandon said, I would stick with what works -- Honda/Toyota/Nissan.
  16. This was all in my V8 280zx. Funny, because I tore the crap out of the CF, and it held up to the abuse. I babied the SPEC, and it was even rated higher than the CF (600 ft/lbs I think) and it cropped out on me.
  17. Well, the word has been all over camaroz28.com and other f-body forums, which is a much, much larger community, for a few years now. After I had already installed my clutch did I find a few posts about others' bad luck with Spec clutches, so I don't think he's just trying to keep a hush on everything. CF seems to be a lot like SPEC -- I ran a CF Dual Friction II with no problems whatsoever, while other people swear up and down that it's a piece of junk.
  18. I wish I would've been able to reach you when I called in to Spec customer service. I was barely out of warranty, but the clutch only had about 1000 miles on it, with 0 launches, and the cust. rep. pretty much told me tough luck. I asked him if there was any way he could help me out, and he told me he could sell me another one. That left a bad taste in my mouth, but at least it sounds like there is a better side to your cust. service.
  19. ditto...I don't understand why I'll try to do anything else BUT study.
  20. I lost my faith in their clutches as well. See: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=107206&highlight=spec
  21. It's VERY cool to see that in a skyline, but on the other hand, just seems so wrong!
  22. They seem to like the explanation "atmospheric illusion". They use that explanation, as well as "a mirage" to explain why the last part you see on a ship is the mast as it sails away.
  23. I've got it pretty bad. I'm always buying useless crap I won't use in god knows how many years. It's just "in the works" for some time in the future.
  24. True, I may have been "conditioned" by my textbook, and victim to a government conspiracy, but it sure makes a lot more sense than this crap.
