  1. Going offroad? Suspension isn't hooked up... This is what rust free fender lips look like. Promise. Torment. Would you believe it? The other side was rust free too! Close look. No rust as far as the eye can see. Worn out disc making me use manual shear for the last cuts. Yay. And presto, enough room to fit 20" or drop it another 2 inches, but that would mess the IRS geometry up. Hmm. Anyone know if there are drop spindles for Skyline/200sx/240sx/300zx? : ) Design and placement of the flares yet to be determined. Think I placed it a bit too high on this pic. I was tired
  2. It's a -71. The car itself anyway.
  3. Thanks for the info. As for the head, I dunno. I'll check later. Carbs are round top. Nice and shiny ones
  4. Since no-one has replied to my last post in my project thread I'm springing the questiong to this part of the forum. So, here goes:
  5. Just make sure to get em bead rolled. I could't find one with a deep enough throat to make decent grooves in the floor pans (which will be compensated in other ways). Just an idea.
  6. Here's a (loaner) 18" wheel that wanted to go for a test run on the new 5-lugs : ) Oh, and the original L24 engine (along with 5-speed tranny) is pretty much sold. Haven't gotten paid of shipped it yet, so I thought I'd check if it's just a plain old regular original L24. If anyone can make anything out of these numbers: What's the "retail" on a L24 with a 5 speed by the way? The odometer said about 60 000 miles when the engine was pulled/car torn apart - but who knows for sure. Judging from the rest of the car I'd say it's been to the moon and back...
  7. I'll do my best, but it's hard to please everyone... Yeah - now that I got the 5-lug setup in place I can start borrowing all my friends wheels to get an idea what fits, and how wide the flares will have to be before I place my order. The flares I have now are just prototypes.
  8. Sure thing, once the wheels, engine, electronigs, etc, etc, etc is in place... : ) Here's the latest: Got some spindles/5-lugs donated : ) Mounted on my spindles (less rust then the donors...) The hunt for trial wheels/rims begins... : ) For sale
  9. Looks great - I wanna see more pics! : )
  10. This thread should have some kind of warning to it... : )
  11. Anyway, here are some turbo flanges I came across. T25: T3: T4: T4 pulse split:
  12. I tried searching Google for a bit, but came up with nothing. Motorsport Auto doesn't have them anymore and niether does Black Dragon Automotive. Only thing I found were some old for-sale-listings on HybridZ and alike. Seems the most likely place to get them would be making a mold off someone elses flares and then making your own. Hope someone else is wiser and know where to get hold of them without the fuzz of showcars/parts. Good luck! Here are two free forum tips real quick by the way... : ) 1) Don't start every word with a capital letter. It takes a whole lot more time to read. 2) Insert a space after the punctiuation mark if you're starting a new sentence. Speeds up reading as well.
  13. What are the specs on those LED's ? Diameter, angle and mcd?
  14. Extensive write-up with pictures obligatory!
  15. Harr harr harr! Aye matey, we're goin' superbright, yarr! The whole LED setup will be hooked up to a LED dimmer that will let me control the brightness and set it within reasonable limits, of course. From my point of view it seemed logical to overdo it since I don't know how much the lenses will darken the LED's in the end. Then again, maybe there's a possibility to hook them up to strobe in case something breaks down. Or blind tailgaters... Or something, I dunno
  16. Thanks for the additional info : ) According to that link, 50 LED's at 45000 mcd and 45° would produce about 1000 lumens, which would roughly translate into having a single 83 watt bulb? I think the LED's will be ok. The 50 is just a trial-and-error shipment anyway so if brighter LED's are needed, there's always 100 000 mcd available...
  17. FYI, I got a reply from a company who manufacture LED traffic lights and I was told that the LED's they used were 5mm and had a horizontal angle of 60 degrees and 20 degrees vertical - strength was (I was suprised to hear) 5.000 mcd. I guess I should be ok with my 45.000 mcd then...
  18. Try this thread on for size: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=96050
  19. I have a bucket standing around, but I haven't tried it yet. I'll have to get back to you : )
  20. Like I said, the pictures are from early last year (and since I have yet to invent timetravel) the LED's used are smaller, less bright and have less angle. That's a solderfree bread board by the way, thus all the wires sticking up... I think the new ones should be ok, angle-wise. They're 625-635 nm, so hopefully they'll be red and not pink, though I guess even a proper pink LED would look red when passing through a deep red lens? White LED's might prove tricky though. Thanks for replying - but please (!) insert more info. You got which LED's? How bright? What angle? For what?
  21. Duh? : ) http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_do_you_get_when_you_mix_red_and_green_colours
  22. I checked if I could find anyone called Spectrum led, wound up with someone called "spectrumled" - is that him/her? Checked their auctions but didn't really find anything spectacular(?). Anyway, I found some 8mm LED's that pump out 45,000 mcd at 45° at a very reasonable price, so I bought 50 of them. The last bunch I got for trial & error were not that bright, nor had that much angle, so this should be interesting : ) Here are some pics from a year ago or so, those are 5mm LED's btw: This thread is getting way off topic, but since I'm the thread starter and it seems no one has tried the green bulb approach, it might as well stray into diy LED territory : ) Come to think of it, maybe I could sneak some amber LED's into the reverse light section of the tail light? Hmm....
  23. Thanks a bunch! : ) Great stuff. I needed something like that! : D By the way, how bright should red LEDs be for the tail lights? I was thinking of getting some 60,000 mcd ones since they don't cost a lot nowadays. The 60k mcd ones could be dimmed with a PWM but if the 10k mcd LEDs wouldn't prove bright enough, that would suck...
  24. Actually, I'm thinking of not using reflectors at all, since I'm planning to make some pretty little circuit boards - and pumping 'em full of LED(s)! I dunno, guess you could coat the circuit board with some aluminium foil or something. I'll make some prototypes when the time for the electrical comes.
