Anyone with US-spec tail lights ever try a green bulb?
mull replied to mull's topic in Body Kits & Paint
Is this you? I don't need new lenses. I have two sets of red US-spec that I'll be wet sanding, polishing and clearcoating. I was only wondering if anyone had ever tried putting a green bulb in a Z to get orange indicators. That's all. Thanks anyway Gareth : ) I like my car being able to (legally) have red lenses. Just being curious... -

Apparently some cars in the Peugeot line up use green bulbs and red lenses. Green LED-bulbs, etc can be found here: http://autolumination.com/1156_1157.htm -
So, has anyone tried putting green bulbs in your Z to get a orange indicator/flash/blink? Just curious, since I have red (US-spec) tail lenses myself (although it's legal since the Z is old enough to have it) and I started thinking that people might not notice the red flash since it's so uncommon in Sweden/Europe... : ) Just thought I'd check if anyone had tried the green bulb approach.

wheel spacer question
mull replied to gretchen/jason's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Speaking of wide spacers. The ones below are about 5" wide. They're installed in an old 911 running 1000+ hp. FYI. -
No, in the end of #19 the holes for the mounting pins hadn't been cut from the inside, nor pins welded in place, nor had the rear subframe been reinforced, not everything was properly welded in place either, etc. There you go

Thanks! Like #20 should be #19 and the other way around or whaddayamean?
-
Since all of you are saying such nice things about the videos/project I'll do a sneak-premiere of #20 here. I tried uploading it to YouTube but the video/audio sync was way off - so I guess I'm going to have to try converting it to another format than wmv to see if that solves the sync-issue. And since it's 6 am here and my server hero isn't online/awake or at his job I can't supply you guys with a direct download. I'm afraid that for now, Rapidshare is the only option. Just click the link, enter the code and wait =) http://rapidshare.com/files/74384814/mull_hugo20.wmv Edit: YouTube 640x360 http://www.voodoo-people.com/~daz/mull/wmv/mull@hugo20.wmv Enjoy!

Read my 2nd post. I know they have metric gauges. Just not the ones I want/need. Anyway, I just needed a Ultra-lite 2 5/8" oil temp gauge to make a full set, which seems like a problem most likely solved : )
-
ERW (Electric Resistance Welded) means it's not seamless. Correct? Looks like it's only been tack welded in some spots.
-
Who said anything about prices? I for one don't think Autometer is cheap. They're about the same as Blitz, Defi, Apexi, GReddy, etc and so on. What über-brand do you think is worth while? : ) The gauges in your link may be super duper, but pretty unattractive... : ( The Dash-systems look ok though =)
-
Isn't the topic of this thread "my FREE widebody project" ? : )
-
Thanks for the links! I'm looking, but I haven't found any 2 5/8" metric gauges yet : (
-
Thanks for the optimistic reply smoorenc =) Unfortunately, I don't think they'll do it. I filled in one of their online support forms and tried persuading them into making the speedo, oil temp/press and water temp in metric. Since they have a section called "metric" I'm not too optimistic about them custom making anything for me. They'll probably just point to the metric gauges and say "What you see is what you get". I wish they'd at least manufacture a Ultra-lite oil temperature gauge in celcius. That way I could at least have a mechanical setup of matching gauges. Regarding the sizes, I know about the 2 5/8", and I hate it. If it were 2 1/16" it would be a whole lot easier finding gauges. But I still want the triple 240z dashpod to match the speedo/tacho. This is so frustrating. Anyone know a good dash logger that deal with a LED-display that displays oil temp, oil press, water temp, volt, amp, etc and do loud warnings as well? I like gauges, but I prefer blinking and beeping when something is about to go south. I wish Blitz would make matching speedo/tacho and fuel level BLM gauges... : (
-
1) Anyone know if the text on the carbon face/backing of the gauge is printed/painted on there or if it's just a sticker of some sort? 2) Is it possible to remove the needle on a Autometer gauge without destroying it? 3) Ever heard of someone who's gotten Autometer to custom make (for example) a metric speedo, even if it's "only" available in mph?

I had not seen this project until now. Wow, the rear fenders looks great! Almost like stock. Nice job! I like it a lot However, If I would do this. I would cut the door skin off and make the doors a little wider, and maybe bring in the "hip" at the quarter window to get it to blend in a little better. More like the original shape of things. Either way, this will turn out way cool and I'm looking forward to more updates! Makes me wish I had another project Z : )

Click this... Any more info on this build? Pics? etc...

No no, it's a twin turbo, 600 hp - unless I'm mistaken : )

Movie time! : ) Here's the latest and greatest. I split this movie into 2 parts. This is part 1. Will release part 2 in due time to keep interest up YouTube 640x360 Mirror 1: http://www.voodoo-people.com/~daz/mull/wmv/mull@hugo19.wmv 720p Mirror 1: http://www.voodoo-people.com/~daz/mull/wmv/mull@huddingekustoms_part2_720p.wmv Mirror 2: Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3

That's it? No Marine Clean? No Metal Ready? I'm curious since I'm thinking of getting my car sandblasted (again) to cover it with POR15 since I don't trust the epoxy primer. It's too easy to sand through so I want POR15. What I don't want is to have to use metal ready and get my poor car wet... Get's me paranoia : ) Anyone know how long you can store unopened cans of POR15 without it getting useless (separates, won't stick etc). I've had some cans standing around for two years now. According to POR15 in Sweden it's still good to use after up to - you guessed it - two years. What are your experiences?
-
Haha, that car's gonna be as silent as a Bugatti Veyron : ) Looking very good! Wish I was there (progress wise)
-
I mostly worry if I'm gonna have to have two or three vertebraes removed and my thighbones shortened to fit in this toy car : P

Think something like this would do the trick?

This thread has been sleeping for way too long, if you ask me. That's what two mighty brave souls thought too. This is why they've volunteered to get the project up and running once again. Meet Huddinge Kustoms. Time to mount the rear suspension, seats, pedals, seatbelts and so on in its place. It's been a long time coming - but here it is - part 18 : ) Enjoy! PICS Big whee... No weels keep on rollin'! The Skyline suspension put in place. Kind of anyway. Andreas to the right. Henrik drilling out some spot welds. Very nice. Rear suspension is gossiping with the spare wheel tub. It's for sale. Rear rails gone. More chopping up to be done... Aluminium bushings for the rear suspension. Always good to have some mounts as well... FILM YouTube 640x360 MIrror 1: http://www.voodoo-people.com/~daz/mull/wmv/mull@hugo18.wmv Mirror 2: http://rapidshare.com/files/68425592/mull_huddingekustoms_part1_360.wmv 1280x720: Mirror 1: http://www.voodoo-people.com/~daz/mull/wmv/mull@huddingekustoms_part1_720p.wmv Mirror 2: Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 I'm pretty much overwhelmed right now. I used to apply a saying, by a wise swedish childrens comicbook turtle - Skalman, to this build. The saying (roughly translated) is: Hurry slowly. When Huddinge Kustoms took the reins, they kicked Skalmans saying right off the wagon and put rockets on it. So uh... How many days did it take to construct, build and finish the R32 Skyline IRS-swap? Answer: 2 days. Sure sure, there are some welds still to be done - but I'm *bleep* blown away by the progress made in the last few days. In fact, my brain is starting to melt down - so here are some (23) pictures of todays progress! Oh, one more thing: mull Huddinge Kustoms Like I said, chopping up - not yet finished. Mr Andreas - aka. chop-meister aka. Rear-IRS-master: D See where the massage has been placed? Some muscle-breakage occurred (not to much surprise) thus, Hugo needing some attention. And grinding. Sore muscles fixed up : ) Chop chop. Bloody rust! Death, rust and taxes, I tell you. Some L-profiles welded in place to hold the measuring device. This is what all tape measures dream of being reincarnated as : ) After measuring, Andreas started cutting up some square tubing. ...in order to have something to mount the front mounts to. No holes = no mounting = break out the drill! Chop chop! Stepping it up a notch further. Tubing inside the square piping. Weld. Welding inside - who needs Intel? : ) And in a flash, all mounts were done! No words needed. I'll do some cheering instead! WOop woop! : D Pretty tight fit : ) Some flares might be needed - the tires are 185 wide : P Andreas is pretty pleased with the progress as well : ) Like I said, very very pleased Andreas - My smile is twice as wide : ))) And this is what it looks like from the side. More to come...! Even after this monster (spoiler) update, there's a new video coming sometime in the near future. I just have to try to make room for the video on my harddrive : ) Woop woop! : ) Pretty much everything is now in place. Have my sights on a pair of 300zx aluminium spindles, complete with brakes, rotors and 5-lug hubs. Last pic is just testing what a 265 wide tire would look like. Henrik och Andreas - aka Huddinge Kustoms : ) Negative camber for teh win. Shocks aren't in proper place, cut spring, no hicas. It's a mess : ) /me is very satisfied with the progress. The shifter seems to have gone astray though : ( Back to the boring garage... Hugo's trying on some new shoes.

The first cage came out last october. The present one was installed around the same time. However, lately I've come to realize the new cage wouldn't have suffered from a more flush fit : ( Guess we overestimated the size of the 240z interior. If the floor is lowered by an inch or so, and some remodeling is done to the cage, it might solve the small problem of my head in a helmet vs. the cage. There's always something... : )
