  1. Does anyone have any information on obtaining a copy of the SDI tall rear spoiler that was used on the wind tunnel testing? Searches of SDI here and on the web come up empty. I want to replace my short BRE style and that one really appeals to me. I've attached a pic from the test thread.
  2. There is a repair panel available for that area of the rear hatch. Motorsport Auto carries it. I hope this helps.

  4. The 2.3 is a good motor. I have run them in my rail buggies for over twenty years. The bottom end is bullet proof! My current set up in my street /off road rail is pushing over 225 hp with a single carb induction. It is realistic to get over 300 hp with a stock IHI turbo on a modified motor . The last turbo 2.3 i built was mild and pushed 20 lbs boost with an un-modified{except for locked by-pass valve } IHI turbo.You really can't hurt these with 20 lbs boost. A stock turbo-coupe has 190 hp, add 20 to that with just a cold air induction. Any hp. over 350, turbo,nitrous or natural aspirated is going to require major head work or an aftermarket head. Both Esslinger and Racer walsh are good sources for these motors. I also have a couple of turbos for these if you are interested, you can pm me.
  5. A transbrake is not a good choice for a street driven car. You can still purchase a full manual, reverse shift pattern valve body for the turbo without the transbrake option.
  6. I think it would work much better without the front air dam.

  14. Chris I posted a pic. in the gallery of one i just bought from ebay for my '73. I think it's the same one.There should be one listed on ebay now. I think i paid 90.00 and shipping. I wanted one without any holes or vents . It's a nice piece. Later, Dale

  16. One engine (l28et) had been run for 30,000 miles with roughly 75% of the coating flaked away. This engine had seen enough detonation to blow a copper head gasket with steel o-rings in the block, but there was no major damage to the stock pistons. This is very interesting. You may have just proved that your coating job did work for you. The coating was sacrificial and your pistons still intact with no holes in them or worse, conecting rods broke loose from the pistons there by saving some major damage and expense. I don't know of any materials used in our automotive field that will hold up to an oxy-acetylene torch blast for an extended period of time, and this is exactly what happens in an un-controlled combustion cycle [EXPLOSION AND EXTREME PRESSURE SPIKES INSTEAD OF EVEN BURNING AND AN "EASIER" RELEASE OF ENERGY AND THE RESULTING PRESSURE WAVE] Pressure good! Explosions bad! at least in engines! Your thoughts on cost versus intended usage and their benefits is a very good point.This applies to every part we may use. Unlimited funds do not necessarily guarantee success in this area and there is no '"sane ''reason to spend money for something if it will not accomplish it's purpose. IMHO dale
  17. The damage on the piston dome and head surface was caused by detonation .The severe scoring on the piston skirts shows it was caused by thermal expansion due to an overheat condition in that cyl. not by any side loading issues. dale
