dwell is %50 -signal not inverted.the transisitor is a little hot.i was reading on the msefi site other people were using a fixed 2 to 4 millisecond dwell on bosch modules so i might try changing it to see how it runs .but the car is still on stands for ic tubing fabrication.i am running the output from the turbo under the engine and out the rh side.the goal on the install was to use the least amount of parts=more reliability.thanks for the map-i know alot about cars but have 10 thumbs on computor.

time to make the ferrari a convertable-i got a sawzall.the put some sand paddles on it and take it to glamis or dumont.

its been a long job because i updated alot of related systems .like dry cell battery install in the space behind passenger seat.fuel system rebuilt with walbro pump,3/8 line in stock location,gm fuel filter in back, aeroquip pushlok hose & fittings, new fuel rail for oring injectors,42 lbs lucas injectors.running a twm 60mm throttle body with ported manifold.the reason for all this is the stock engine will be out in 6 months for a stroker with a ported head and cam.still have to build intercooler tubes-its running on jack stands.i even had to build jack stands for this-spending hours under the car i needed some tall stands so i could work faster.i had to get some noise out of the car.the megasquirt is firing the oem zxt ignition transistor module-connected fidle to yellow wire at module.used a cherry hall effect sensor and cherry magnets in the flywheel ala xander.i will have to install the saab 9000 ic for awhile-the chinese 240sx ic needs some fab work and funds are tight right now since i have been unemployed.that electric bill for the a/c in the garage wont be cheap-but sometimes you have to get it done.

Is Rising Rate FPR redundant with standalone?
randy 77zt replied to HeatRaveR's topic in Fuel Delivery
basically a rising rate fpr is a crutch for people that cant change the programming on their car.they are usually included in bolt on supercharger kits.its much more accurate to use a wb02 and a good standalone efi system.heard they help out on l28et with oem efi system if you want to run more boost though.if you know what you afr is you have less chance of damaging an engine under boost. -
i put magnets in my flywheel with a degree wheel on the crank at 60btdc.got my car running but timing isnt what its supposed to be.with offset at 60 it runs about 35 atdc-not good.with offset at 30 it runs 5 atdc.this is with fixed angle set at 0 to get the ignition map out of the picture.want to get this problem solved before i turn the ignition map on again.i am having brain fade on this math stuff.i might try to check the magnet location with the ign led on the ecm.i know i punched index marks on the flywheel to match it to the crank.note -post edited-i fixed it.i inverted spark and it went to 25 btdc.the i set offset to 50 (while running )and noticed the tdc mark was about 2 off.reset to 52-now on the money.turned the ign map back on and the car runs real smooth thanks to moby's map.

HELP 81 turbo idles low
randy 77zt replied to Magnum380Z's topic in Trouble Shooting / General Engine
clean the throttle blade and throttle body insides.i never ran the aac valve on my car-it would idle about 1000 rpm but with a/c that was a good speed.now its got megasquirt. -
almost got my car running-i need to get it going to use for a work car.becuase of gas milage-i will be happy if it runs over 26mpg

i quit last december just before new years weekend-the ford dealer i was wrenching for was screwing me on the flat rate pay system.i told them 2 days before.now i have to start anther job next week at another dealer.but its union so they either have to pay me or lay me off if its slow.bad time to start a new job-its too hot out.like 100+.i have been working on my z but i put a/c in the garage.

with those wheels that thing would take forever to stop-think giant flywheels.

are you refering to my old boat-the motor was a mercury 260 hp outboard.rev limit 8000 rpm.hull weighed 700lbs.top speed 110 mph.i sold that but i am saving up for another boat of the same type.it was expensive to run but i got addicted to the speed.

anything that says i have to sign a liability waiver for sounds like fun.i had to sign 1 for the last boat i bought.

i am installing my megasquirt and bought his color coded wiring kit with wire function pre-printed on the sides of the wire.the generous length of the wiring allowed me to install the relay box on the bulkhead behind the drivers seat and his db37 cable kit let the ecm be installed behind passenger seat.this might seem odd but since there is already enough stuff underneath my dash (ac,adjustable boost hoses) installing the megasquirt in back makes it so i dont have to stand on my head to work on it if needed.i have worked as a ford dealer tech for 20 years.i dont bend that good anymore.in the compartment behind rh seat i installed a odyssey dry cell battery the i got from john coffey.the cables run under the rh carpet direct to starter.i ran ground to the starter too.making the car more serviceable is is a major priority after years of working on some engineers pieces of s%$t.i am not using any original nissan wiring for this install-old wire makes for voltage loss.i also removed the fusable link box under the the hood and installed a 6 fuse panel next to old fuse block.i ran a #10 wire from the battery to feed it.the alternator charge line run directly to the battery wire on the starter.i attack installs to improve the whole car.that old fuse link box had some voltage drop in it.wires were removed from the harness and shortened for this.

honda s2000 engine trans if you can find a totalled car.mazda rotary 13bwould work.a local guy around here a a lotus7 kit car with a s2000 motor in it-it hauls.

try bsi racing.get a subscription to grass roots motorsports.those teeny bopper tuner mags suck.
-
the relay is driven to ground to engage it.in4002 is a diode.2n2222 is a transistor.1k is a resistor.the outputs on megasquirt cannot directly handle any large current or voltage loads.parts are probably at radio shack.use standard bosch relay.

i would guess he has never been on a 1000cc sportbike?or a cobra repliaca with a big block?or a healthy v8 z?or a 18' boat that does 110mph?your buddy needs to get out more-and not just to those hip-hop ricer car shows.

looks like what happens when my honda xr600 kicked back while trying to start it. -
i think jim cook racing has broke the code on nissan ecm and can reprogram them.you can get more horsepower with some good su carbs though.

Air Conditioning Expansion Valve Supplier????
randy 77zt replied to Lewis Maudlin's topic in Miscellaneous Tech
nissan dealer still can order some parts and its not that much more.if you have to modify for using non oem parts consider your extra time involved +reliability issues.sometimes its not worth it using non oem parts. -
if you move to cally from out of state you will have to smog for initial registration in any county.the 78 motor would probably need a whole list of junk(air injection system, efe(heated air filter)egr, oem intake and carb to pass.if you are moving to komunistfornia to make more money think again.a small house is $500,000 close to the citys where work is at.car insurence is outragous.you are always in a traffic jam.
-
my 77 always blows cold air.but systems on early (70 -74)were cobbled up with old piston york compressor.if i was going to to install on older z i would probably order some parts from vintage air-and ditch the old nissan stuff.

Problem with a ferrari... maybe somebody can help.
randy 77zt replied to a topic in Miscellaneous Tech
connect a fual pressure gauge before the regulator.if it is a a normal bosch system it will be 32psi at idle and 40 psi with vacuem hose off of regulator.the regulators will stick sometimes and fuel pressure will go to 90 or 100 psi.this is assuming it k-jetronnic(electric injectors).i am not much on knowing about old cis(constant spray injection).if it uses bosch parts you can get the bosch part# and order parts that way.also check wiring to sensors-those things ran hot underhood and connectors get crunchy from heat.if the car was parked for a long time it might need injectors removed for a cleaning and calibration check by a shop the does injector cleaning like kinsler or rc engineering.if you disconnect a fuel line and its hard/brittle replace it.you dont want to buy a customer another ferrari.i had a customer with a mercedes 450 with leaking injector hose.it used injectors like a z car.i replaced ALL injectors and hoses because everything was brittle.keep a fire extinguisher handy. -
spped channel was bought out by fox a few years back.then they turned it into nascar channel.i do watch f1 and wrc on it though.the reality tv thing is getting overdone-now discovery channel has a tatoo show on.i guess the real issue is that no matter how many tv channels you have its never enough.that is where the internet comes in.
