  1. try a 75 or 76 tank.hose nipple out is 1/2 to pump and it baffled for efi use.
  2. you guys oughta see the billit aluminum brackits & willwood calipers on back of my car.all i had to do was torch off backing plate and bolt on brackit with 3 bolts.use 84 300 zx rear rotors.have to keep pressure turned down -wheels lock easy.this was a 20 minute per side install.no park brake though.
  3. who made those rotors?the last ones i put on were coleman racing nascar units.
  4. the boats use an intercooler under blower on top of intake manifold so it looks like a spacer under blower.they use water pumped into ic first then to cool engine then out to exhaust.so intake charge is at lake water temp or close.
  5. has any body calculated the max drive shaft rpms for a z?i know this is a function of length/tube diameter but i am not an engineer.this might be critical on a car used in neveda for open road race.i remember reading about the 200 mph red camaro running a 2.3 rear gear with a 4 speed.4th is 1 to 1 so your tach would be your shaft speed.
  6. another place for expensive billit brackits is street&performance in mena arkansas #501 394-7113.put some on the project car in garage.polished show quailty stuff that fits .they have brackits for sanden a/c compressors and serpentine belt drives.you must have a deep wallet though.since building a project car for a friend i have learned that the street rod mags have lots of neat problem solving parts in them .
  7. the dyno hooked up to smog machine at work is a clayton electromagnetic unit.it is wired to 480 volts /3 phase.maybe thats why numbers are low.maybe we could turn it into a generator when our lihgts go out from chessy california electrical shortage.
  8. or even a world class t5 from summit-$1000 bucks is cheap for new trans.the mustang guys drag race their heavy cars with these -should work in z.
  9. nice hardware lineup-92to 97 chevy lt1,vortech blower, spearco intercooler, blow off valve.i am am doing the wiring on a 66nova/94lt1 in garage right now for a customer.after he sees that video(i HAD to save that to the hard drive)i will have to pull the motor out of the nova again for blower pistons.the engine has a tuned port induction specialties 400 hp kit in it now.when i get paid for nove job my z is getting the spare motor installed with new turbo.intercooler,sds,clutch,lsd.cv axles
  10. i am a smog tech and since california changed the test program 3 years ago we have to smog on a dyno.but the dyno has some other features on its menu.like horse power testing.i dont know if the dyno at work is accurate but we got some numbers.most late model muscle cars get about 200 to 220 at rear wheels including 32valve cobra at camaro lt1.my z did 180 at the time the clutch decided it couldnt take any more.my 96 e150 van with 5.8 with a few mods does 170 .another techs dodge charger with 440 did 220.a blow 5.0 stang pegged it .anybody that gets 300 hp to rear wheels in a z has a really fast car.
  11. a buddy at work put a whipple kit on his chevy truck-worked good.the rv guys use whipple too.quality is good -just not hyped like other kits in magzine.as far ai intercooling goes -i am ahving a tough time on my 77 z on how to get an i.c. in with factory ac on l28et.i am thinking of mounting it on top of intake with a hood scoop feeding it.
  12. i have a 66 nova in garage that i am putting a 94 lt1 in .your car has a pump mounted out of the tank -which is easy to deal with.the tank is set in car to gravity feed pump with a large fuel line-about 11mm.most aftermarkit external pumps for efi will work.i have a mallory 4060fi going into nova.if your are cheap some of the old bmws like 530i had a large pump on them to run the bosch cis injection-$20 bucks at pick&pull.
  13. i heard the old canon intake manifolds suck.but thats the kind of used stuff you find laying around.robello has been known to build a 3.1l street motor with su carbs that makes 200 hp at the wheels.i wonder what a 2.8 or 3.1 with weber style fuel injection throttle bodys at about 10 or 11 to compression would make.then it would just be dyno time to tune it.i dont have the cash to build r&d engines .but my turbo runs good and it is a daily driver so right now i am not planning any projects on my z for awhile.
  14. if you use 280 zxt nuts they are self locking and you wont have this problem again.or use loctite red and dont crush the nuts.i have had to fix mine with a thread file before.
  15. what ever you do do not use those wire tie things that go through radidtor core.they usually cause a leak someday.
  16. as far as the central ca z meeting name a place-i am off work till march.my car isnt much to look at though-it is a research& development car that i drive daily and use for road race driver schools.mucho mods for the track though.and factory a/c stiil works
  17. i will take a set -i already have the cv axles and a 3.7 lsd r200 laying around.
  18. i have the holley book.it says it depends on top rpms and most street /strip motors dont turn much over 6000.my brother bought a used jet boat with a pumped 460 ford and it had a 650 dp on it.after getting rid of old points distributor and puuting on some electronic ford stuff from pick&pull i set the total ign timong at 3500 rpm and started on carb.put in rebuild kit.check balls for power valves and jetted at 78 front and 80 rear.boat ran good and pulled 5400 rpms-had a tight pump.if a 650 can run a 460 ford than it should run a sbc.the local 1/4 mile nascar racers have to use a 350 cfm carb and make 400 hp out of 358 ci.
  19. if you buy a used turbo the last owner will know what it did.if you order a new one from turbonetics or another reputable turbo builder and tell them how your car is set up they will build a custom unit for you.if you bought a turbo like i did last week you wont know till you put it on .i got a .63t3/60-1 t4 unit out of a sand rail magazine for $370.it has a tag that say genuine garrett reman on it .it looks new.but it doesnt have a exhaust housing with waste gate so i will hav to swap housings.
  20. any 75 up z trans will fit but best trans is a 82 or 83 non-turbo.most used trans will have counter shaft bearing problems.i build my z trannys myself.find a good stick trans shop and carry your trans in .if you get a used trans check drain plug-it has a magnet on it.if trans howls in evry gear except 4th it has bearing problems.leaks are usually at speedo drive-there are seals that should be replaced in the drive unit.trans is easy to work on if you have any manual trans experience.
  21. may be get arp to make some custom bolts with shoulders on them?this would take care of problem and make parts swapping easy.some poeple that run their cars on long trips like the 3.54 ratio .if you live in the west there is lots of wide open spaces like neveda to run your car and 4.10 dont work for that.
  22. i had some of those aluminum-delrin bushings in back but got rid of them because of noise.i just loosen things up and move it around with prybar and can get about .15 on each side .rear toe in is very important-car feels loose with out some.it still wants to wander a little bit on rain grooves on freeway when i run my kumho slicks to the track.that is why i want some rear control arms like the ones simon built.camber & toe in quick & easy on alignment rack at work the night before i go to the track.i align my car for the track and realign it for the street because i get to use the rack at work.my track alignment is front 3.2 neg camber,3 castor,.o5 toe front rear 2.5 neg camber .15 toe in .this thing pulls on rain grooves set up this way but it works great on track-i out ran a 240 its z race car at laguna with this set up.he had to look at my license plate .then i drove it home instead of having to load it on a trailer.
  23. morgan-this set up looks like webers with injectors in the throttle units.you just put the tps on the end throttle body.then you have throttles like a bmw m3 engine.this gets rid of #1 cyl lean .this man has some deep pockits.ivan stewerts toyota tundra baja truck uses twm throttle body units.this set up use a weber style intake manifold.with proper dyno work this engine should make at least 400 hp by 7000 rpm.
  24. i have a 84 300 zx rear rotor/willwood set up on rear of my car-i just took off all the parking brake stuff.
  25. a suggestion -get in on the sds buy .i have to wait because i dont have enough money right now.
