  1. Performance numbers? Looks great-very tidy.
  2. If you are talking 10.999, it's not that hard to do once. But if you plan to do it every weekend you will break lots of driveline parts. The OP doesn't seem to be watching this anymore, so I think we are all just talking trash. Lets let this thing die.
  3. Truck is down for another week. It runs and drives, went to get exhaust yesterday. But the speedo doesn't work and the power steering is spewing fluid. Still needs to go on dyno after that. Maybe one more week and a couple thousand more dollars... But I'm gonna love it! The Z is driving great in the meantime.
  4. I would like to know who the sick bastard is that makes u-joint yokes and the like, that don't have a flat spot on them to rest straight and level on a press support. I start pressing, and the part starts twisting-aaahhhh!
  5. Those tire stretching videos on youtube are quality entertainment! I'm waiting to see some turkey get his finger stuck in the bead while his friend lights him on fire. Driving on sidewalls-what a gas!
  6. Rinsed off and ready to cruise to work tomorrow. The 28" rear tires are rather freakish.
  7. A good spot for a chalk block, 4-link, fire bottle and nitrous bottle. Or a place to put your purse.
  8. With both the offset bumpsteer spacer AND the camber plates, you will be able to get like 6 degrees of neg camber!
  9. Interesting. I will follow your project to learn more. One of the projects I have planned for my truck is to disable ABS, it drives me crazy and I can't get the thing stopped once the ABS starts chattering and farting. But that's my only experience with ABS. There must be better systems that perform well. On the LS, it has actually been way easier to deal with than triple carbs on an L6, very plug and play. I bet your ABS will be awesome and well done.
  10. Why take a wonderful simple car and make it complicated? It's like marrying the girl you are sleeping with. Instead of sex, you get nag, nag, nag.
  11. Bondo on a strut tower. You, sir, have a problem! Looks awesome. Everything you do is class.
  12. Harnesses in, rear quarter glass in (what a pita!). Replacement oil pressure sender on hand, epoxying this one since soldering the other one made oil pressure readings erratic. It will go on tomorrow, along with trimming the leading edge of the BAMF flares for more slick clearance. It's a shame to cut those CF flares, but anything that compromises the big meats must be cut away! Then put a little more paint on the floors (fake black floor mats to hide dirt), install sub belts, and we are down to odd and ends. Like getting out the touch up paint for the first time in 15 years. Maybe this weekend I will start on another diff rebuild with the goal of getting the backlash right.
  13. Aw, I bet you don't sleep all week anyway (you'll be helping guys who break down on the highway). I have a couple of long tows left before it gets cold and I'm dreading having to carry all my crap into the hotel, since I just have an open bed pickup. Thought about getting a fiberglass cover for it, but I'm going to try bringing a bicycle for getting around the track and that won't fit under a cover when I squeeze it inbetween all the extra tires, jack, spare axles, etc that I haul around (just in case).
  14. How will you cover the bed? I'm thinking about the ability to pull into a hotel and park it to get 1-2 hours of sleep. What axle did you use so that you could use the draglites? What width wheel are you using? Looks great.
  15. Lowered seats are installed! Plenty of helmet room, now. Harnesses go in tomorrow. Gotta find time for an alignment, toe in is excessive in front and rear. Borrowed some drag radials from a buddy, now mounted and on car. Making progress after months of no car work. Feels good to be moving forward.
  16. I got your seat bolted in today. AutoPower seat back brace is nice. All nice and solid. Harness tomorrow. Fortunately, my ass gets smaller as my belly gets bigger so I can still squeeze into 16" seats. My spleen may jiggle, but my arse won't. Can't wait till October!
  17. I have enjoyed my JCI kit, but I plan to use the Hawks kit next time-if there ever is a next time.
  18. I'm not a suspension guru, but our cars are very similar, so i'd like to learn along with you. With the V8, I have to be very careful with throttle application even in a straight line or I lose traction in back. All the more exiting turns. Mine was very touchy toward oversteer even before the konis when i had lots of droop with Illuminas. Do you currently have problems with oversteer even if the throttle is held constant thru the turn, or just when you start to add throttle as you exit (like the title says)? I so want a couple of dedicated hours on a skid pad , but I've never gotten to play on one. It doesn't address our limited droop, (and I'm sure you've done this), but I did notice improvement by dropping the tokicos to full soft and dropping rear tire pressure significantly. A big inprovement in controllability was made by reprograming my DBW such that more pedal input is required for each degree of throttle body opening. This year (if I can ever get to the track) I have obtained some wider rear wheels and tires to run a little stagger. I also may drop the tail some, which builds in more droop. Hey, that's an idea: drop the rear static ride height a couple inches and see if it helps. 1.4g is awesome-I doubt seriously if I am anywhere near that.
  19. My brother took his family up to the Finger Lakes (Hammondsport?) camping this weekend. Looks SO nice. I've been up there in October and the smell of grapes along the side of the road is incredible.
