  1. I should be picking up the 510 tonight I will post a ton of pictures in my build thread most likely tomorrow as it is going to be dark when I get home, and I have a Subaru to sell now

I got the 510 (well I don't physically have it I transfer funds tomorrow) and now am happy because I wanted to bring my Z to the track but wanted to bring the wife and one of the kids out at least to hob knob for a little bit. The shifting action is insane! its like a short throw it is a smaller throw than my 97 subaru OBX speaking of which I have to sell that now any one want a 97 OBX? The 510 hasn't been out for a while so I will see if I can put some miles on her and if she does OK I will bring her out to the track on saturday! Hey is the guy who bought the Z a hybridz guy how was the interior in the Z I was wondering. **Edited sentence to make more sense

  5. So a guy local on CL is listing a 510 and a V8 Z both look very good. So I might be having a 510 for a daily if all goes well and no one swipes it from underneath me. Here is the CL advert if anyone is looking for a V8z. If you talk to him tell you Aaron the guy that wants the 510 pointed you to him that way he will like me and sell me his 510. But no one gets the 510 but me I already convinced the wife I needed it! Thanks Yeah after I painted her I hated the way the chrome stood out so a lot of painters tape, and news paper later and a couple of cans of a nicer gloss black spray paint there she is I love the way it turned out. I did that about 4 years ago, unfortunately I have only put maybe 500 miles on her since . but that is changing I had her out today!
  7. I am running NGK BPR6ES so it is a resistor type plug. PROBLEM FIXED! Alright well I should have purchased new Spark Plugs days ago instead of not wanting to until I did more testing. I did a compression test and all cylinders were 120 @ 5000 feet so that was ok then I changed the spark plugs. WOW. I bought a set of NGK BPR6EGP's the car started right up, throttle is now instant and all cylinders are firing. I probably could used a new set of plug wires, but with them on the plugs they aren't jumping through the wires so that will wait for a while. So lesson learned if you think your plugs might be fouled just change them out I think I am going back tomorrow to buy another set just to have on hand. Also thank you every one for all the great pointers. When I eventually get new wires they will most likely be Magnecors.

So a small update I am having trouble getting all cylinders to fire and the spark is leaking through my spark plug wires so before I can really move on with a good quality tune I am going to have to invest in some better quality plug wires. Today I am going to try and get some of the self etching mag cleaner that Atlantic Zcar tips suggested to clean up the Swastikas pictures to follow.

Alright So I did the Rotor Cap cleaning and it seems to have helped some so thank you for that very good tip, but still getting very little response from the first 3 cylinders, also I am getting shocked through my NGK plug wires when I take them off of the spark plugs while it is running and I am no where near the ends of the boots that seems like a bad thing if the spark is leaking out the sides of the plug wires. So I guess I will be looking into some new wires.   10. Thanks for the Tip I will report back tomorrow after I have tried it (Or in the middle of the night if I can't sleep again. I sure hope I can this will be 4 nights in a row running on about 2 hours sleep!). I might just edit this post if it seems to work to keep thread counts lower.
  11. I checked the plugs yes they are in the right spots. Like I said sometimes she runs better than others I am going to replace the plugs to see how that goes tomorrow. I do not have a new rotor or cap, but I am getting a spark from all of the wires at all times.
  12. Alright here is my problem. The car starts and runs just fine (Sometimes) and other times she starts up but idles rough and I can't tune it. I am getting spark and fuel all that good stuff. When I pull the plug wires off the car wont stumble unless I pull off several of them when I am putting the wires back on before I get them clicked on the spark plugs will start firing and the engine will run smoother. Now some days its a couple of the plugs, other days its others. So this is my question is it really just my spark plugs need replaced (I am getting new ones tomorrow); or is it maybe my spark plug wires too? The reason I put it in MS forum is are there any plugs and wire brands that people have gotten better performance out of then others I am running a stock l28et with the 280zx dizzy, using MS1-MSNSe. I am using NGK brand plugs and wires. I also tried to side gap the plugs today and that seemed to help on some of the cylinders. Thank you for your help

  14. I just wanted to chime in with my swap I also did the 2001 Toyota Celica Seats they are super comfy and if you have a welder aren't hard to fabricate a bracket for.

Well I have had her for about a week and a half here at my house so a quick update I changed the water pump, had tires put on, rebuilt the relay wiring harness, cleaned up the engine bay some, and now I am going to start driving her so she can be tuned. The electric fan relay burnt up some how in the past, so I decided I would have MegaSquirt control the fan as well. I am so happy to finally have her back. Next on my to do lists: Keep an eye out for a good deal on an Intercooler, BOV, and piping Get KIA Sportage door weather stripping and find a good replacement for hatch weather stripping Tune MegaSquirt (This requires more than 5 miles of driving the car a year) Now for the pictures. Engine Bay some pictures are when I got her here and the ones where she looks a little cleaner are now. Some of the Interior (And Strongbad) Yes I need to clean up this wiring mess I know! If I am going to keep the 5pt Harness I need to cut a hole in this seat any suggestions on how I should go about this? Now The Exterior I never noticed how crooked my tires are how do I fix this? Two of my 3 kids in the next pictures (They like "Daddies red car" but they think "Its stinky") Sorry the video didn't work *Edited so when the pictures were clicked it wouldn't lead you away from the website*

  18. I have a perfectly good 1975 280z. The hood on it it doesn't have any rust and only 1 very small dent. I swapped in a l28et and now am worried about under hood temperatures. My problem is I hate to cut up a perfectly good hood when there isn't an unlimited supply out there. My question is I have several 280zx parts cars and I have the vents I was just wondering whether I should go ahead and add the vents (a 280zx turbo vent would look pretty cool) or go the other route and just look for some dinged up inspection lids to vent. This isn't about the looks of the vents; I just would really like to not cook everything in my engine bay. *Edited to make a little more sense the hood is the one that is on the car, not just an extra one

SO I was at the Pick-N-Pull here in Aurora Colorado and I saw this very solid what I believe is a Mazda RX-2 The underbody looks good, the engine is there although a little disheveled the body has some dents, The interior is rough but all there and those ugly seat covers seemed to be covering some seats that seemed to be in decent shape; all in all it is a very unmolested RX-2 and just wanted to post about it in case any one knows any Mazda guys that are looking for a good solid starter car. I have no affiliation or stand to gain any profit just love to see a classic get restored I don't know how much the JY wants for this car I didn't ask. I can get you the JY information if you want it or know someone that does
  21. So a quick update. The car is on a car carrier right now I should be getting her tonight. I am thinking about getting some tires put on her tomorrow, I will be updating this a lot more often and with pictures as well.

  23. I am also interested, I was looking at the IMSA 3 pc but I like that yours flows so much better with the body lines of the Z. I can't wait to see this one for sale and installed. Is it going to be a bolt on affair? I saw on your website the other had 2 threaded holes.
