  1. I was concerned about that too, so I called a mechanic shop in Tucson, AZ that specializes in Z cars. They said that the fuel pressure should stay around 2 or 3 psi when the car's off. So I looked closer at the pressure gauge and it does register that. It was just a little hard to see 'cause it's a 100 psi gauge.

Is this carbed? If so then 2-3 psi is good. But if its efi it should be 25 minium up to 35psi after the car is shut off and then only loose 1 psi per minute or something like that. Not sure exactly of the leak specs but your manual should have it.

  2. Glad you found what was causing the no start condition. I would also be worried about the dropping fuel pressure. It should hold pressure for atleast a half a hour if not longer after you turn off the car if your injectors and fuel pressure regulator is in good condition.

  3. Okay, so I told you guys that I have an aftermarket fuel rail and Fuel Pressure Reg. on the car. Well, the pressure gauge that I have on it registers pressure when I'm trying to start the car, but not when its off. Is it supposed to show pressure in the lines at all times? If so, then maybe it's the fuel.

Sounds like you have a leaking injector, stuck open injector, or bad regulator. Verify that you get a click out of all 6 injectors while starting. Then take off the fuel rail and do a leak test should help point you in the right direction.

  4. Tell me more about these mufflers Ted.

They not really mufflers more like resonators. But they have sounded good on all the vehicles I have tried them on. FYI they are loud if stock is an 1 and open exhaust is a 10 so these would be 8.5-9.0 and borlas/flowmaster would be a 7. They last long and i've never had a problem with them falling apart or rusting.

  5. Oh wow, that sounds awesome. The short exhaust with just the bullet muffler and downpipe was exactly what I was thinking of. From the shape of it, I was worried about getting a high pitched ricey fart-like tone.

Thank you, I now know my next muffler.

Was that a 2.5" or 3" on the zx?

I believe it was a 2.5" because that would have been my downpipe size but not 100% sure.

  6. I'm on the verge of redoing my exhaust and was curious about those bullet mufflers. I saw 'em on summit for 40 bucks. How loud are they (compared perhaps to a borla, or sound reduction from open pipes)? Do you happen to still have any vids of your l28et with that muffler?

    Yep sure do.

This is a l28et with stock downpipe then about 2 feet of pipe then the bullet muffler. Nothing else. The bullet is deeper and slightly quieter than open and a fair amount louder than borla's.

  7. Thanks Warren. Nah not as crazy as I once was, but thats a good thing. Just fyi that was in an abandoned grocery store's parking lot.

The car has the mods listed in my signature. This is the third car i've run dynomax bullet mufflers and every car sounds good with it. I've run a 4cyl, my 280zxt, and now my gto. For $40 a pop me likey.

  8. I went to the track today for the first time since I've been home and ran my 280ZX I was expecting a 12 out of it, man was I wrong. Massive wheel spin dashed all my hopes for getting a decent time, I ran a 15.9 on the first pass and a 15.2 on the next one, with 2.9 and 2.5 60ft times respectively. I staged up again and launched it really soft and only got a some mild spin in 2nd and a chirp into 3rd I got a 2.2 60 and 14.6 overall. Oh well looks like I need slicks. On the plus side the motor makes plenty of power when I stood on the throttle in 1st I spun for 40ft and continued to spin well into 2nd. I thought 10in wide Kuhmos would be plenty to get it to the ground but I guess I figured wrong, sometime this week I am taking it to the local dyno to see what kind of numbers I can lay down. I'll post the results when I get them, I wish I had some video for you all but I neglected to bring the camera, you would have laughed seeing a my car getting sideways at the lights (whatever happened to stickum?), one pass I was at about a 45 degree angle before the car started to move, the guy running the lights was not amused altough I thought it was pretty funny.

What was your mph? It sounds like to me you are dumping the clutch. I found with the l28et you need to slip it so that you can get he boost up right away but not break the tires loose. One way to think about it is you are doing 30mph in second and punch it you will spin the tires all the way through second even modulating the pedal. But if you go from 15mph you won't spin in second because you slowly got the power on and the car accelerating. I dropped my 60's from 2.2-2.3 to 2.0-1.9 in my ghetto beast when I learned to slip the clutch. Good luck

  9. Nice car, a freind of mine has a GTO. I helped him do some audio installation. Very nice, well built car.

    I would buy one.

BTW, this is Evan with the green 95' 240sx.

Yes it is a very sound car. So far my only problems have been warped brakes (bought like that), and clutch pedal gets soft after a fair amount of spirited driving. I've read the latter can be fixed by bleeding the system. I just did a few bolt on's and quick tune and its got 360hp and 360lb-tq. Sure its moving 3600lbs but its still fun. How is the 240sx running? The fans still sound like a couple of air planes taxing around?

  10. I personally think you should have asked more questions before the tune. Also, he should have know that you were not going to be cool with a quicky for 425.00. Dosen't matter how many he's done you still want to feel like you got your moneys worth.

Actually I did ask alot of questions. I told him about the other guy I was thinking about going to. I also asked him why aren't you hooking up a wideband and he said he didn't have to because he will give it as much fuel as need to make the most power. So I said oh you are going to do a pull add/remove fuel and run another and he said yes. Then he didn't do it.

I've tuned 5 or so vehicles using megasquirt so i'm not stupid on tuning my self, but I am knew to someone tuning my vehicle. Wasn't sure what it would involve.

  11. I've done a few mods to my gto and wanted to get it tuned. I had two options go to a halfway known tuner and get his tune flashed and then run it down the track (for $250) or go to a well known tuner and get it dyno tuned ($425). So I decided to go to the well known tuner and get it dyno tuned.

This is what he did. Strapped the car to the dyno, ran a baseline pull, loaded up a file and did some editing (5-10minutes max), then ran another pull, then ran a third pull with a scanner to watch the timing and stuff and called it a day. Never hooked up a wideband and never played with settings:fmad:. When I told him this is not what I would call a dyno tune but a dyno load he started to spout well i've done tons of your cars with the same mods so I don't need to do your vehicle. Then I pointed out that every vehicle is different and that what works on one vehicle won't work on another. Then he started to say that the tune he put in was the safest yet most powerful tune he was willing to do without headers or cam. (aka maybe trying to sell me stuff)

In the end he did say he would give it to me for free but I was not ok with it so I gave him the $250 the other guy would have charged me for loading a tune. What do you guys think was I in the right to ask for a real tune or wrong because he had so much experience?

The thing that annoys me the most is I don't know what my afr's are, my car is popping upon decel just as much if not more(a problem with gto's) and I know my car is not optimize just improved. The good thing is he did pick up 10hp and 10lb-tq everywhere and close to 25 at readline. This is normal for this car if not under. People have seen close to 20-30 peak from a stock gto.

  12. thanks guys =]

i love vids cause when the time comes that the car's down, i can watch em and it's motivation to work on it.

first run chad misshifted into 4th, that was his 13.2 my 12.3

second run his shift knob came off into 4th ROFL

he was pissed. srt4's shift knobs just slide on they're not threaded on like nissans. i bet he's gonna jb weld that thing on this week LOL!!

LOL my friend had srt-4 also and HATED the shift knob. JB weld was his friend. Also he ran a 13.3 @102 on street tires.

Nice runs. What boost were you running at the track 20?

  13. Hey olie in response to your question you can now advance the timing alittle bit more due to the fact that you were only detonating at low rpm high load before. And since the cam reduces pressures at low rpms you should be able to advance the timing a couple of degrees to help out your low end. Good luck

  14. Its a GOAT!!! Well I was driving to work and I passed a dealership and naturally I started to look at the used cars they had for sale. What do I happen to notice a silver gto. Turns out to be very nice but overly priced GTO. So I decided to do some research and found out that I could save 7k buy getting a GTO that has more power, 3yrs newer, 30k miles less, a back seat, and much more luxious (in my opinion). So my quest was started. Three days later I found my new car.

Its a 05' Gto 6.0 with 27k miles on it. It's black with black leather interior 6spd manual. This is my second v8 car. The last one was 5yrs ago and it was a stock 90' mustang gt. The three things I like the most about this car are the power (ls2 is very nice), looks, and the tall ass gearing. (46mph, 68mph, 100mph, 144mph, 172mph, 200mph+)

The three things I dislike about the gto are:

#1 WEIGHT this porker is 3725lbs stock. It doesn't feel like its that heavy due to the power, suspension, and brakes but it is heavy.(i'm working on it)

#2 The steering wheel. It looks like it came out of a caravan.

#3 The key. The key is the size of a pinto or bigger.

Other than that i'm loving it. Got some mods on the way nothing crazy just freeing up some tq. I've owned it for 2 days and already put 300 miles on her. Any other GTO owners out there? Now that I got my DD i'll be focusing on my next project real soon or later:fmad:.
