  1. Agreed. I first saw the pictures online were like ehh not my taste. Then when you see the car in person its totally different. Very well done car.
  2. Black Dragon is the datsun Victoria British. I have yet to order anything from them but have only heard good things from them. MSA usually has good products but are overpriced on alot of things.
  3. If you have a fluid in your brake booster it is from your master cylinder. So I would first replace that. Then the reason your brake is soft with the engine is on is because you are using a vacuum assisted brakes so it more than doubles the pressure you could do by your self. So either a. you have air in the lines and air compresses with alot of force or b. you're brake lines are cracked and are expanding because of this. Good luck
  4. I got a fairly good deal. But if you look it can had for the same. It was an 05' w/ 27k miles on it for $23k out the door. I sold it for more than I paid and I only had $500 into it. So all in all it was a good car/deal. Boy would I love that engine in a z. Only prob though is they are 700lbs (wet) with trannies and I hate weight. A l28 is 500lbs with tranny. So right then and there 200lbs saved.
  5. Yes a flywheel does free up flywheel horsepower or rear wheel horsepower, but not crank horsepower. But as you decrease the acceleration of an engine (say in a higher gear) the benefit is very minimal. So lets say in second gear you go through it in 2 seconds and you would gain (estimate out my butt) 15hp but when you are in 4th gear and it takes 8 seconds to go through it then you only gain (1hp). Once again though you don't increase the power output of the engine you just free up the power. Just like roller rockers. Better or worse?
  6. I blew my 8th tranny and didn't want to spend the $1000+ at the time to go with a z32 tranny. Plus I needed money so I parted her out. Sold the shell for the same price I paid for it to a local z owner for his son. I sold my n/a motor out of the same vehicle to them a year earlier.
  7. Well here's hoping you make it to DNI (formely known as SEZ). I liked seeing your car last year and would like to see it again.
  8. Nope sold the GTO:(. It was a pig of a car but I miss the POWER. Even though my red z was overall faster. The torque was addicting. I asked the new owner if I could keep the engine he said nah... Well alittle birdie just told me that you will have one heck of a l28 in there by then so its going to be fun, but I say bring it on.
  9. LOL Thanks but nah. I should be able to provide my own this time. Last nigth I went out a car meet with 3 other z s30's. (it was a surprise meeting) I hoping I can talk all of them into going to DNI. So far 1 is a maybe and the other 2 are thinking. Plus I know a few others in this area now. Lots of work though between then and now.
  10. I'm reposting it here since I just remembered normal members can't reply in the Member's Project forum... MY 1000!!! POST IS ABOUT A NEW Z CAR:flamedevi Well i've been looking for awhile and stumbled across this one. I was looking for a 240z, 260z but when he told me how much he wanted I couldn't pass it up. When I bought it a cam shim had broken so a rocker arm slipped off. After I fixed that and put new injector connectors on its running great. It still has lots of little things to fix but its good to be back in a z. Funny thing is I don't miss my low 12 second gto as much as I thought. Other the fume problem (which i'm fixing this weekend) I actually enjoy cruising around with this car more. Mostly because of its crappy aerodynamics since I don't have huge amounts of wind coming in the windows when they are rolled down. I'm planning another l28et but first its supsension, brakes, and body work. It will definetly be ready for DNI. I'm putting megasquirt on it this weekend and ordering lots of bushings and suspension parts. This is my first time driving a stock l28 motor and its peppier than I thought. I'm guessing high 15's. (ok i've done intake, exhaust, timing, and removed some weight) These are pictures the previous owner took. I'll take some after the suspension goes on and I have fixed a few things.
  11. Ahh you made that thanks. I've used that or a similar website for years.

  13. Here is a website that explains why shifting early can actually be better than rapping out each gear. It also had a nifty calculator as well. http://www.datsuns.com/Tech/whentoshift.htm
  14. The shaft spins freely but what about play. It should have no or very minimal side to side and up and down play. You should do a rebuild just so you don't ruin the turbo, but I usually take the chance on a cheap turbos.
