  1. I met doug at an autox about 2 years ago. I pulled up next to his 240z race car in my 280z. He seemed pretty friendly, and he gave me his business card. I haven't had a chance to do business with him because I try to do all the work on my car myself, and I usually go to ZnZX (or is it Z world) for j/y parts.
  2. Why does it have parts from other cars in it? I'd expect to find a few R200's, a couple of tranny's... you know, typical j/y stuff
  3. How are you going to deal with the steering column finish? Are you going to use the stock nissan piece? it doesn't look like the column will integrate with the way the dash is laid out.
  4. now thats a thread hi-jack... get your own
  5. Actually, from what I have read, bigger mileage gains are available through turbo charging, because you are using energy that would otherwise be wasted. In supercharging you are using energy that would otherwise be going to the wheels.
  6. http://www.carcapsule.com saw that at a car show once. You'd be better off with the less complicated zip bag that you originally posted about though.
  7. that was a question? You are right, the amount of water I carry would have a weight penalty, but the amount of fuel I wouldn't be wasting is worth it. Also, water (even distilled) is cheaper than gasoline (last time I checked) I dont know if your turbo and fuel mileage generalization is very good either, however, I'm not going to argue with your generalization. All I can tell you is that whatever car I get, I will be able to make it more efficient by using a turbocharger, and I won't be the first to do it.
  8. starting to think 3cyl 1.0l geo metro... 1650lbs. perfect.
  9. Right, but the ground to the relay would be the "thin" gauge wire with the activating switch. Reason for this is that in doing megasquirt the Fuel pump relay is grounded on the board itself. This would make it easy to run one power wire to the relay, one ground to megasquirt, and the "relayed" power wire to the fuel pump. (and O2 sensor). I'm looking for a clean install.
  10. I'm glad to see you are finally working on the rotaryz!! Keep the info comming. This is sticky material.
  11. In wiring a relay, is it possible to use the same power source for the actuating and actuated part of the relay?... Would this cause anything to act funny.... or is this how all relays are wired and im completely oblivious? btw, in this case, the switch would be wired in to interrupt the ground to the relay.
  12. Pocket pool, eh? I guess that'll keep you outta trouble.
  13. I know first hand about the CRX HF. In fact, check out my geocities page for a ZC swap into one. That car was awesome. The reasons why I am not thinking about that car is because I want a 4 seater. I want a car that i'm NOT going to want to go fast in. That is what the Z is for (for now at least) great suggestion though. I'm trying to get this thread to go more in the way of "what modifications increase fuel mileage." Lets hear it! edit: i think i found my answer on turbocharging http://fueleconomytips.com/2005/11/14/turbocharging-for-power-economy-cheap/
  14. what is that little hump for on top of the center gauges? It looks kind of wierd, so I'm assuming it has a functional purpose as opposed to a design one. A clock maybe?
  15. By dash harness I meant power relays to the ecu... All the wiring from the EFI main relay to the ignition relay and fuel pump relay will be eliminated. From what I found, it would be rather difficult to use the stock relay system, because of the way the power for the fuel pump relay runs through the afm. It can be done with the right jumper wires though and it would still require a seperate fuel pump relay. You will still have the gauge wiring and such under the dash, just not the "power relays" for the ECU and ignition module.
  16. (goldfish) I think the 96 and up came with a 5speed. That is what I was looking at. rustrocket: i don't know what you were doing toting around a 400ci block in a tercel, but thats excellent fuel mileage, especially considering what you were hauling. The initial goal is 60mpg. I will either find the limit of the cars fuel mileage trying to obtain that goal, or set a new goal once that is obtained. GraZee: the point of the turbocharger is to use some of the energy (heat) lost in the exhaust. I doubt that it would mean boosting to the point where the cooling advantages of water injection are needed. The water injection would be there to allow the engine to use less fuel. From what I have read an engine can be leaned with the use of water injection, and that is the reason why I mentioned it in the original list of mods.
  17. Hey guys, Lately I've been thinking about getting a late 90's tercel, and making it a gas saver car. I'm wondering though, what mods would help the engine consume minimum fuel? Here are a few things i've been thinking about so far... Polish the ports in the head (don't know if porting would help too) Megasquirt it Use water injection Run low rolling resistance tires Turbo? About the turbo idea, I was thinking perhaps that would only work if i was starting with a smaller engine and trying to get it up to the power output of a 1.5. Otherwise I would just be cramming more air into the engine and having to dump more fuel in as well. Although, i would be re using some lost energy in the exhaust, which would help efficiency. I'm somewhat confused in this area, so someone will have to educate me on that. -Oliver
  18. Relay board will help out, then you can just delete the stock wiring under the dash. You don't need MSII, unless you really want high resolution fuel and ignition control. From what I have heard MSI PCB3.0 will handle the job more then adequately.
  19. That is sick. Put it on the q45 btw did you get my PM? -oliver
  20. EFI FTW, YO! but thats not the topic of this thread. I think you should stay up one night and catch this person in the act.
  21. And thats why it is my goal in life to have these on my z at some point.
  22. The stock glass nissan ones are the sex. I think they provide the classiest looking way of mounting headlight covers, not to mention the shape is a little better than the acrylic ones, IMO.
