  1. http://www.turbocelica.com/TheShuttle/Exhaust/TurboHeader.htm similar idea. The turbocelica guy told me his header gets red hot under max boost.
  2. Is there going to be a report (other than the video mentioned earlier) that will be published? If so, selling the report could generate some revenue as well. It seems like this kind of information should not be available to the likes of Motorsport Auto unless they are willing to jump on board as a sponsor. (we are testing their products, i'm sure they are more than interested) I should be donating sometime soon.
  3. While we're dreaming, would you be casting these with the larger ld28 deck height, or standard deck height? Also, how much extra would it cost to have you make a custom aluminum twin cam head to fit on your block?
  4. 84 maxima? as in l24e? I think I saw that one there (assuming were talking about the same maxi) about 2-3 months ago. The camshaft was rusted when I got to it, so i didn't take the head either.
  5. Go back and make sure all the head-manifold bolts are well tightened. Then, check to make sure all the Intake-exhaust washers are holding BOTH the intake and exhaust manifolds and are seated correctly.
  6. nice... very nice! Can't wait to see the pics of them on your car. What tire you goin with?
  7. Olderthanme, I'm beginning to wonder if you got permission from all those websites to link their pictures in all your posts If you host your pictures through hybridz then you can count on them being in this post a year or two down the road. that being said, here is my contribution to this thread: my car, circa 2004
  8. Sometimes it seems like the forum and the albums are unrelated. Anyone else get that feeling?
  9. Is your car street legal? I see no front turn signals. i like the shocker on your windshield... believe it or not, thats our school hand sign. *go coogs* Cool pics!
  10. There's a Z in running with scissors. Its a silver one with a black fender.
  11. Ok i will take a crack at this. The narrow mount point that the S130 diff has on the front is SOLID mounted (i.e. metal to metal with bolts) to the rear subframe. This keeps the diff from rotating along the front to back axis of the car. Since that is now limited, the only thing needed to keep the diff from rotating along the axis of the rear axle is a bumper... in this case a single bolt. If you want to apply the bearing analogy that ron is gettting at, then you could have a bearing on the rear mount of an S130 diff, because it sees no torque. For the S30 you could mount a bearing on the front because that mount sees no torque. You could NOT mount a bearing on the front and back, unless you mis-aligned the axes of the bearings.
  12. Great paint! I like the radiator support... Is there some ducting going in place around it?
  13. one of my injectors was doing that as well. Replacing the seals didn't fix the leak, so I ended up replacing the injector completely.
  14. I've read that in other markets the turbo engines got vacuum advance/boost retard distributors. kameari chain tesnioners own all.
  15. Jon, you are forgetting that ackermann steering can also be achieved by pointing the steer knuckles towards or away from the centerline of the car. I'm kinda new to the whole ackermann thing, but from what I understand, on a car that has the steering knuckles forward of the front axle, the steer knuckles must point outwards in order to achieve 100% ackermann effect, assuming the steering rack and tie rods are parallel. (in a top view) Also, I understand that when the tie rods are perpendicular to the steering knuckles, then 0% ackermann effect is achieved. In the case of the car with forward mounted steering knuckles this would occur forward of the tie rod mounting location on the steering knuckle, assuming the steering knuckles are still pointing away from the center line of the car. So, in your case, moving the steering rack back towards the axle centerline should increase the ackermann effect. note: when I say steering knuckle, i really mean the imaginary line from the steering axis to the mounting location of the tie rod ball joint. I honestly don't see how changing the inner position of the CA front to rear would significantly affect ackermann.
  16. Ok what if I want 306 silver metallic? Is there anywhere online I can go price it out, or is my only option the local auto paint store?
  17. The black spacers can be cracked, but the injectors should be sealing with the intake manifold, by the use of the O-rings at the tips of the injectors. I think you either have a vacuum leak, or you need to set your idle air screw out or something... of course you need to run through the efi bible... make sure all connections are good
  18. Wow... You need to calm down with the whole S2000 thing.
  19. I was under the impression that the S2000 engine spun the other way... That was the main arguing point that people were making for swaping one into a z, so how is this possible? Unless everyone from those S2000 swap threads was wrong...
  20. How are JPGs better than *.VEX files, or even *.MSQ files? What is your setup? Turbo or N/A?
  21. Fo sho. I went from houston to orlando and back in the z. That is roughly 2k miles. And I will probably do it again next spring break. I am running stock fuel injection and it gets me everywhere and anywhere very reliably (when I'm nice to her) In my case, the stock fuel injection has proven itself to be quite reliable.
  22. Almost all FSAE cars are motorcycle powered. We are using a CBR 600 f4i engine. Its a little easier to build a car around the engine rather than trying to stick the motorcycle engine into an existing car. For example the 600 f4i engine shares the crankcase with the transmission, and the things that hold the main bearings in place is connected to the thing that holds the tranny shafts in place. Swapping to a longitudinal tranny would be alot of work.
