  1. no, i don't have the money to junk a good set of webers or mikunis (yet) back to the original topic, the way i was planning on doing this was by grinding out alot of the internal castings, and unecessary carb parts, making room for an injector. Clearly this is much easier to do on an SU than a weber due to the nice little dome to stick an injector into. Also, this would be the perfect opportunity to do your tripple SU setup, without having to worry about "over carbing" the engine.
  2. You make that sound like a bad thing! What good are carbs for these days anyway? lol EFI ftw
  3. well, you have v3, so I'm assuming you are using the vb921 coil driver, I would check that first, and then move on to the injector firing circuit on the board. Did you build it yourself?
  4. uh oh.... That would really stink. Ok, I might pull the pan tomorrow as well, is there anything I can look for, or are these cracks extremely invisible to the naked eye? btw I picked up a 280z damper after looking through some really crappy ones, I found a decent condition one, with the timing mark where it's supposed to be.
  5. first of all check to make sure the case is not loose, or vibrating against the body... if that fails get another MS !
  6. Thanks for the replies. Seems like its time to break out the old 1-1/16" socket edit: 1-1/8" also, just so I don't clutter this thread with extra posts, I just went out to tighten the bolt, only to find it was already tight. The wobling must be completely related to the rubber wearing, and now i'm in the market for a damper.
  7. I started my car up this morning and there was this noise, almost like a loosely adjusted valve, but much louder. I pulled the valve cover, nothing. I got around to the front of the engine and found that the Harmonic balancer was wobling. Upon further inspection the noise was being made between the back of the balancer and the timing marker. does this mean the rubber in the balancer is breaking apart? Should i put my car out of commission until i get a new balancer, or is it one of those things that as long as i keep it at low rpm's ill be fine? I don't like driving my car when i know something is wrong with it, but it's my only mode of transportation... and i should be in class right now
  8. Dude, awesome vid! I was jammin to the song the entire time.
  9. right click, save as: http://album.hybridz.org/data/500/struts.gif
  10. Hey guys, Trying to figure out which book i should pick up. Between these: Engine Management: Optimizing Modern Fuel and Ignition Systems by Dave Walker (176pgs) Four-Stroke Performance Tuning by A. Bell (336 pgs.) Modern Engine Tuning by A. Bell (272 pgs) How to Tune and Modify Engine Management Systems (256pgs) Are there any great engine management and theory type books out there? I'm looking for technical info, not generalized info.
  11. you should install some rear control arms... Your car won't roll without them. Unless you meant adjustable rear control arms... then you would be biting the bullet.
  12. this is a cool picture i found, but i didn't find any definitive info on how the system works durring a race, from what i found its for fans to be able to tell which driver is driving:
  13. does anyone know what the three LED clusters right in front of the rear wheels are for?
  14. lol!!! dam hippies *shakes fist*
  15. where was the camera mounted? The exhaust sounds really loud. even the idle sounds drony. Don't get pulled over! +2 street cred points for running twice pipes
  16. what numbers? i don't see no stinkin' numbers!
  17. I helped jay put together his carbs a few weeks ago, so I will post the answers to the questions to the best of my ability. The thread pitch that holds on the air horns turned out to be the same as the oil pan bolts (of which we had several left over from switching to AZC's pan). The K&N filter bases were fitted underneath the horns. When the car is running, it will be using both horns and filters. I know of a few cars that use this style setup (weber downdraft 3 barrel) Don't know about jetting yet, as the car has not been started yet, but here are some pics of the bases fitted under the horns. Edit: On the note of fouling your plugs (i.e. running rich) adding a filter to an intake path that normally is unrestricted will create a higher vacuum, thus sucking in more fuel. I'm guessing you would either have to find some less restrictive filters, or, like you mentioned, experiment with the jetting.
  18. cars are very sensitive. Especially when you buy another make... ok but in all reality, check the connectors on the thermostat housing. There is one connecter there, that if it is disconnected, the engine will shut off. It will cause similarly bad performance if it is loose. Thats where I would start.
