  1. I would contact the owner of zcar.com. That classified system he is using SURELY doesn't delete the old classified ads from the DB. He/She should be able to pull that ad for you. Phyte
  2. I just bought an early 74 260z, and it had the nasty flat top carbs on it. The car did come with an early set of SU carbs(4 screw). I've got them all bolted and hooked up, except for the linkage which is too short. I've adjusted the thumb screw at the bottom starting at the top, 2.5 rev's down on each one. I choked them up but I can't get it to start! Its getting fuel. The old flat top carbs ran, so its no other problems. Any other suggestions? Do I really need the linkage to make it start up. I opened the butter fly's about 10% trying to get it to start up. Help! Phyte
  3. I'm not setting this car up for racing. It will make its way down the 1/4 miles every once in a while, and maybe to the road course once or twice a year. 17's will work just fine for that, but I agree if I was building it to race seriously 15's or 16's would be the choice. Phyte
  4. I just bought a 74 260z. Its got a 2.8L from a 78 280(including A/C componants). I need to drain the A/C compressor oil to convert it to 134a. How much oil do I put back in? Phyte
  5. Ahhhh...much better. I didn't like the look of those side skirts and rear bumper. Anyone want to trade me a complete 74 chrome bumper for the side skirts and rear bumper Phyte
  6. Something like this :D Phyte

  11. I just bought a 74 260z with an 2.8L out of a 78(sellers information). He has put different carbs on it, but I have no idea what they are. It runs like crap now, so I need to tune it up. Problem is I have only a chevy background so all this is new to me. I couldn't locate on the carbs where to adjust the mixture. Its running WAY rich right now. You can smell gas driving 65. Plus it runs like crap. I know this engine has some decent potential. I've searched on tuning, but don't know what carbs these are.. help? Phyte
  12. With a $5000 budget, why don't you find yourself an LS1/T-56? You'll get 20mpg+, and have all kinds of power low to high rpm, AND have money left over. Phyte
  13. Anyone know ANY information about this car? I'm going up North to look at it and possibly buy it, but would like to see if this car is known around here. Its a 74 260z. Thanks Phyte [/img]
  14. What plans do you have for the engine? Its extremely easy to get 450 crank hp out of the 2jz-gte motor on stock turbos. Just get a boost controller, a good downpipe/exhaust, and a front mount IC and you'll be set. Then upgrade your fuel and put on an Sp63 or so turbo and get 700+ hp That has got to be one of the best engines made. It can survive over 1000hp on the stock bottom end. The rearend and trans(6sp) have been known to take over 1200 stock.. Amazing cars. I was going to buy one until I fell in love with the Z. Phyte
  15. File is gone. Can you host it? Phyte
  16. How can you guess at what your flow numbers "should" be? Guy I'm estimating based on that article I linked above. Phyte
  17. If you can do the port work yourself there's nothing wrong with the L98 heads. I bought a pair that was already ported with larger valves for $250. These are the iron heads. Here's what I should flow with all the work thats been done on them .1 82.5 52.5 .2 145.6 111.8 .3 212.9 150.1 .4 245.4 178.6 .5 269.2 190.9 .6 270.6 195.2 As you can see these heads CAN flow extremely well. If you buy a virgin set of heads, and have someone port them then I agree with grumpyvette. It will cost just as much to have that done as a new set of aftermarket heads that will flow well. Phyte
  18. So this company can say, build an adapter to put honda wheels, or GMC wheels, or any type of wheel on the Z? Or does it still have to be a 4 bolt to 4 bolt. Phyte
  19. Looks great, but we need more/better pics!!! Phyte
