  1. Dude that things sounds violent. Congrats. Just got mine running but it aint nothing like that. By the way who is the P%&&Y holding his ears in the background. Doesnt he know that is the sweetest moan a lady could ever make. High Compression? High Octane? I thought I smelled that race fuel from here. More More video !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111
  2. HMMMM. Got me Thinkin. I was going to fab a small dash but still have the stock one laying around. Let me see what I can do to lighten it.
  3. Ugh you had to ask. Dont know right now. I am interested in a setup I have seen that uses a small 2nd caliper.
  4. http://home.grandecom.net/~airboygt/imgs/Wangan%20Midnight%20Vol%201.pdf From Devil Z
  5. Dorifto Dave 0 Thanks for hosting wangan midnight. I downloaded the MAng PDF and have really enjoyed it. Wish I could read Japanese. I just appreciate the artwork and imagine a storyline based on it. I tried to download the video but only got 87k thatwould not play. If anyone has any version of this digitized on the web let us know. Thanks
  6. Cody and Trevor I went to Advance Auto here. There is a bracket that bolts to the braket that I have installed. It also slides over the posts on the caliper. In my pics I show it for the MAxima calipers I have. The unloaded ones I bought did not come with it nor was it pictured at Advance. When I took them back the loaded caliper picture had them. They are being shippied to the house so I willlet you know exactly what happens. Thanks.
  7. Think I got it figured out. I bought "unloaded" calipers. The loaded ones have all the braketry. Thanks
  8. take a look here http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=106217
  9. Shortening the rod is on the other end. It is the closed end of the slave that encroaches oon the area of the oil filter. I have a relocation kit but have not installed it yet as I havent finalized the exhaust. Just wondering if the corvette oil filter was shorter in stature to make room for the oil filter.
  10. Terry and others I have the front maxima rotors on the rear. Had to grind the corners off around the wheel studs like you said. I bought the maxima caliper brakets and the are on. I traded for some rear maxima calipers but they dont work. I will use them for cores. I bought the 81 toyota cressida front calipers and brought them home today. Here are some pictures On the new calipers the piece that actually bolts to the caliper bracket seems to be missing. Thanks
  11. Grumpyvette I am using a Muncie M20 with a 84-88 corvette bell housing. I bought a new 85 corvette slave cylinder and got it on and working but the little datsun master just doesnt have enough. Also the slave extends into the oil filter. The one I have is a generic for a gm 350. Is there a shorter profile oil filter for a corvette? JTR recommends a tilton master and for the corvette slave it says to buy it in a 13/16" bore. Could you confirm this is the one http://www.tiltonracing.com/content.php?page=list2&id=22&m=b Also does anyone have any input for sources or sizes before I order it as I have a garage full ofparts I have bought thatare not quite the right fit. Thanks
  12. HEy Man you are running those rpm too low. Wind that thing up and keep it in the power band. Nothing below 4000 rpm.
  13. Thanks fil. After cleaning seems to idle well. Used it to run in the cam. Now gotta finish the rest of the car to get it on the road.
  14. Clark you must send me all the video footage as well as commentary. If you want I can setup aN ftp direct to my site or burn me a cd or dvd. for this veideo and post could you please post some comments. Is the motor still on the same build? When was this taken? How is the car now? This was the first time I ever sold a motor/car that I built.
  15. Great Car. Love to see Hybrids raising the price and value. Kinda Like watching real estate appreciate.
  16. I bought some Dunlop SUV tires that were on closeout for $56 per tire. Excellent.
  17. Thanks I did not have one on but thought I might. Now knowing the purpose of the resistor I see that the question reveals my true automotive prowess. DOH!
  18. http://jemofvausa.no-ip.org/videos/V80zFirstStart.wmv Down Load it. Takes 3 minutes
  19. If you want to go for ICSCC then check out the car classes and then find out which race groups are the most popular. A zcar may not be the most cost effective platform to start racing. There is alot of competition in the east with Rx7's. The SCCA has a class that has very little engine mods and is focused on suspension and braking. It is and entry level class cost wise. Both NASA and SCCA have classes that only need safety gear to get into. Roll cage $400.00 - $1000.00 Fire Bottle $400.00 Helmet $200 approved suit $150 -$400 approved Shoes $50 approved gloves $40approved Current Harness $200 approved General car prep. Fluids tires brakes $1000.00 total = $2600 Then you gotta get licensed by a sanctioning body which if this is your first time yopu will not have any credentials to get transferred to help get you in the door. Club annual dues $50 License fee annual $50 Physical Whatever School/ EVENT $300.00 fee Nomex $100 total $500 Then you gotta tow. Tow vehicle Trailer. also budget your expenses for each event you plan to attend. It cost me anywhere from $800.00 to $1200.00 each time I wanted to go. Entry fee $200-$300 Race Fuel $100 Hotel/Camping/ Meals $300.00 transponder rental $50 -$75 So to get the ride ready and all the gear, licensed and get to the first event after school you are looking at Approximately $4000.00 Man Now I know why I took a break from that addiction
  20. I am in the finishing stages of getting mine running. I have been reading alot tonight from Grumpy Dan Juday and PPARASKA and others about timing and whatnot. I have come across something I have a question about. Do I need a ballast resistor with a HEI setup? OH BTW I am rewiring from scratch. This is my first V8. Thanks Joe
  21. yes it will. Also old broken down plugs wires as well.
  22. If you are looking for some cheap replacement parts: First of all. Whenever installing a new cam you must use new rockers due to the interaction between the two surfaces. That being said If you are looking for some cheap replacement parts: If you need some extra rockers springs cam etc let me know. I will weigh up what I got and send it to you for the shipping. That is if you are just trying to get it running. I got a stock cam, used, but obviously much better than any other thing I have seen. Has a high nickel content. I also have a schneider, I think aboout a .420 cam used. PLenty of old rockers spings hats locks spider cages etc. and what have ya. Lash pads of varying sizes. Got out ouf the L28s when I hooked up with hybrid. Let me know. I have run into so many good deals from the people hear I gotta "Pay it forward" some. I wiped a cam once. I thought I understood the geometry issue. I installed a higher lift cam. Thought the next set of lashpads I had were sufficient. I was able to get a good wipe pattern on all rockers but I did this by adjusting the rocker arm posts. so even though I had a good wipe the angle of attck of the cam lobe to the rocker pad was too extreme and put too much stress on the rocker. In qualifying I actualy had the pad come off the rocker and bounce around inside the valve cover while the can contiued to mill the soft ductile portion of the rocker thus infusing my oiling system with plenty of metal. So we dumped the oil and filter. Grabbed a spare "used" rocker . Slammed it together and went out to win a race the next day. It held together till the end but I was counting the laps for sure. But what are you gonna do when you have invested in a race weekend. You do what you can to finish. Ok that was a bit of a rant. Sorry
  23. Have you loosened the distributor yourself and played with the dizzy timing? If you feel comfortable with that you should. Also there have been many times that I was 1 tooth off in installing my l28's distributor. It would start and idle fine but when I opened the throttle it would just bog. rotating to TDC on number one, installing the oil pump in the 11:30 position and then getting the dizzy back in there was never an exact science for me. My old vintage haynes manual detailed it as well as my "How to Hotrod L28" book. One time I was one tooth off and was playing around with the dizzy and rotated it so it lit #1 or #2 with the intake valve open and lit the weber bowls on fire. AHHH blue flames out the weber horns. Yes for me there is only one way to learn. The hardway. Grab a book and have fun !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. WWWWWHHHHHHHAAAAAATTTTT as Joe Dirt would say. Does that Thang have an HEMI. Seriously I cant believe my eyes AWESOME a 510 with an L28 stroker running 10.96 127 no way That is too hip That rear end hop is awesome. Looks like a fast dog with its hind end tucked. I am going to look at your specs. Please share all secrets.
  25. Thanks Pete. Thaht is an awesome idea for grounding. Zero resistance. I moved my battery to the back and grounded it on the rear bumper shock bolt holes with 1/0 cable. Brought the positive forward through a switch to the starter. But what you are saying is bring the ground forward as well and attach it to the block? Right?
