Looks like the new aluminum floor was put in with some sheet metal screws (Can't really weld it in, can you?). Maybe it's time to pick up a fuel cell and ditch the stock tank? The absence of trunk floor would make this job somewhat easier. That being said... if the hardpoints for the original steel straps are still there you might be able to use them. Depending on how well the angle-iron supports are attached it might be sufficiently strong. [edit] Now that I think about it... the mounting points for the straps are probably long gone by now (with the original floor). You would have to find alternate locations and fabricate something new in order to retain the tank using the stock method.

Haha... I like the dude in the striped blue shirt in the background. He's got a 'what-the-hell-are-these-guys-looking-at' expression on his face. I think it's actually kinda cool. If you're gonna go off-roading... why not do it in a Z? [dodges slings and arrows].

Oh... and that being said... RB26's Rule!

This has all been covered a bit, but what the hay! Er... not quite. I can almost gaurantee you that any RB26 you get for $3600 will NOT come with a tranny. So you'll have to hunt one down and can expect to pay anywhere from $1000 - $1200. And you'll need an oil pan' date=' fabricate a pickup...etc. There are several advantages to going with the RB25 and, depending on the power output desired, [i']could[/i] be considered a better swap than an RB26. Notice I said better swap and not better motor. 'Better' is subjective and sometimes depends on personal factors... not HP, not # turbo's, not 'GTR'... etc. Even thought the price of the '26's are falling (Although I seriously question the condition of some of these motors) the '25's are still cheaper!

Felt it out in Torrance. My office is on the second floor and we felt it more than the guys on the production floor.

If you have the time (ie. long term project) then you can blast small rusty areas, but like Tim said... sand's going to get everywhere. IF you do blast something you should take the time afterwards to thoroughly vacuum up all the loose media. When I needed to blast small sections I made cardboard dams (taped to the body) and layed a tarp down on the ground under the area being worked. This helped me to minimize (but didn't eliminate) the amount of sand that collected in peripheral areas.

Was the Z silver? I know there is a million silver 350Z's out there, but I witnessed one (that appeared stock) doing the same crap on the 405 last weekend. 100+ mph in and out of traffic... racing a riced out Altima. When I caught up to him later (I was doing 70 and he had slowed down) he started downshifting, accelerating and slowing down like he wanted to run my WRX. I just shook my head and set the cruise control... hoping I'd see him get pulled over. Frickin Jack A$$

Was Jackson at the meeting with Blair and his Intelligence Chief? If he was I could see the correlation. Just messin dude Backo to Jacko... ... It was killing me yesterday to listen to the jury speak about the trial... OMFG. One of the older female jurors [John Lequizamo impersonation]: "Choo don't snap yo fingers at me lady." Jackson must be innocent. Juror #1 felt that Jackson had probably molested young boys, and he was leaning towards guilt, but he felt the prosecution did not do enough to dispell reasonable doubt. Unfortunately he can't act on his gut instinct and had to vote for innocence.

rayaapp2, Thanks for the link in your post. That is almost exactly what I was thinking of doing if I ran into clearance issues with the steering shaft. ZXRockie, No structural reinforcement yet. I don't have easy access to the underside of the car (i.e. No lift). Once the car is painted and moves to a new location I'm going to pull the diff and rear suspension for cleaning, powdercoating, and new bushing R&R. I'm going to look into connecting the rear frame rails to the main rails. It's been done by Hybrid guys quite a few times and I will follow their lead. Before paint, however, I am going to have JohnC fabricate me a 4pt cage that will tie in the rear strut towers. I imagine that a combination of the two will be sufficient. -

Here's a quick sketch I threw together. I'll definately post pics and maybe a quick write-up on how I do it. I think it's gonna work great. -

Sorry... I shouldn't have said 'linkage'. I'm going to utilize the stock 240 throttle bell crank setup that is mounted to the firewall. I'm also going to use a throttle cable from an older 4cyl Toyota Tacoma. The Tacoma is setup like the RB with the linkage on the passenger side of the vehicle and so the cable runs along the firewall and makes a u-turn into the throttle body. The part I am going to machine (that I labeled incorrectly ) is a support for the Tacoma cable. It's going to be mounted directly behind the motor on the firewall. Sorry for the confusion! -

Hey Brian! Yes... after some thought I have decided to stick with the stock turbos for now. There does look to be quite a bit of room in there, but alot of that space will be taken up when the intake and exhaust sides of the motor are re-installed. Since I've removed the hood latch mount I could move the motor more to the rear, but I like where the shifter is sitting. I need to machine up the linkage for the throttles, too and that space will be nice to have (on the firewall). -

Thanks Yasin! Ricks mounts are well made and I had no trouble getting them to work... they're worth the price IMO. The red on the headlight bucket will be the eventual color of the car. I'm toying with the idea of working some small LED turnsignals into my 'bumperettes' (which are only mounted in place and are not lined up) and using the resultant openings in the spoiler to funnel air to my intake. -
The general concensus on the RB26 turbos (IIRC) is about 13-14psi. I'm not too sure what the RB25 turbo can handle.

Yep I'm using the RB25 transmission. You can tell by the pictures that the car isn't even painted yet... so I'm not as far along as it might seem. I need to fit up my front and rear suspension so I can mount the CCW's and adjust the ride height with the engine in the car. Then I can see how much flare I need to cover the tires. Once the car is painted I'm going to try and get the engine up and running. -

Thanks for the compiments... they're powdercoated "International Red" Thanks for the info... I had forgotten about that. I need to order some misc components from Matt within the next month or so... I'll have to throw the GTR Emblem in,too. Just doesn't look right without something there. -

I just re-united the engine with the car. It was about 15 miles away! My rear suspension is out as well. I just re-assembled my rear struts with the new GC coilovers. As soon as my 5 lug stubs come in from Modern Motorsports I'm going to put the entire rear suspension back on the car. I need to test fit everything and mount up the wheels/tires so I can start working on my custom flares. -

I'm shooting for October. Might be a bit of a stretch, though... gotta finish the body work (70.5% complete) first. -
Not looking as nice as Jamie's , but hey!... Here she is! Ricks mounts worked pretty good with the Supra Isolators. I didn't get a shot of the shifter but it's smack-dad in the middle of the shifter opening. Ran into some clearance issues with the stock transmission mount locations (in the tunnel). Wasn't much of a setback though... we drilled out the spotwelds for the mount reinforcement. We're going to move it to the rear and downward so we can use the original 240 tranny mount (upside down). I'll post some additional pics in the upcoming weeks when I get that figured out. A bit worried about the stock turbo clearance. With the engine slanted (by design) there's not a lot of room. Can't really see it in the pictures. Several people are running these mounts... but offhand I can't remember if they are on stock twins. We shall see... Enjoy (Cuz I'm damn happy)... BTW... the turbo manifold on there is for turbo #2 and was only installed to try and gauge distance/clearance... I know it's in the wrong spot.

Sometimes it's sooo easy to try and put the cart before the horse!

Perhaps I should just stick with the stockers for now... get it up and running and see how it feels. I have sooo many other things I need to focus on first. I think I'll send them out to a reputable turbo shop and have them looked over... maybe take Matt's suggestion and have non-ceramic wheels installed.
