  1. Maichor, My master doesn't look anything like the link's.(camaro) It is a G.M. product. The fitting (what the role pin holds in) is a 90 dedree angle, and the whole is large. Thanks for the compliment on the vids and e.t. times!!! JOEY
  2. Use the search!!!! All of your questions will be answered! I don't know of a manual to download. Spend the 30.00 or soo and get the JTR manual. That too will answer your questions JOEY
  3. RIGHT ON MIKE! Thank you! I pulled the role pin and braided line off last night. I didn't see any kind of restriction in the fitting? I did lengthen the rod and replace the dextron 3 with Redline. The clutch is now catching in the middle in stead of right off the floor. Shifting much better! JOEY
  4. I had plans of going, but... That is the same day as the Pacific Coast Dream Machines car show in Half Moon Bay. A father son thing I do every year with my pop's. Neither of the Z's at last years show, were or are using John's kit. I know for a fact that MAS280 won't be there with his LS1Z (primered one) and I thought I saw a post about the guy from Salinas? with an LS1 that will be there. I'm using John's kit, Do a search and you will find a ton of info. Or P.M. me and I will answer. John has been good to me and I will help anyway I can! JOEY
  5. Right on, you guys rock! MAS280 menctioned something very similiar this a.m. I will give it a shot after work. If problem still persist I will lengthen my clutch rod(i have no more adjustment). I BELIEVE VIDEO WILL BE POSTED TONITE! JOEY P.S. Thanks for the shifting advice Workinprogress!
  6. Year of the trans... Not sure. It does have the factory hearst shifter. By missing third,I mean I'm denied. Like not stepping on the clutch all the way. I am using a stock G.M. master with the braided line. Basically I cut the rod the same length as the datsun one. Too short. Gonna lengthen the rod and that should cure my problem. Or Dale what is your fix? JOEY
  7. Made it to the track yesterday. I've never been down the 1/4 mile in my life. Yes a virgin. The car ran really well with the exception I'm having some shifter problems. The car is hard to get into gears. My first run I missed 3rd and got a 12.8 @ 112 m.p.h. My best run of the day was 12.2 @ 114 m.p.h. I let MAS280 make a run (being the seasoned driver he is and knows how to get into the 11's with basically a stock ls1 motor) pulled a 12.3 also missing 3rd gear. Damn!!! The qiuckest I went was 115.6 m.p.h. @ a 12.4. I lost traction launching the car at 4,000 r.p.m.s. The other runs I launched at 3500. Mike is convinced it will drop to high 11's with the shifter problem solved. I believe it is related to my clutch adjustment and going to Red line trans fluid. The car set up? Set my Tokitos to adjustment 1. Lowered my drag radials to 15 p.s.i. and of course reflashed the e.c.u. with LS1 edit. My R200 rear end with the Nismo posi? Didn't break any axles! I wonder how much abuse it can take! Got to get on the ball and install the Q45 rear! That should ease my mind on being on the back of a trailer on the way home. Kind makes me wonder what the car will do once I install heads and a cam! Got the runs on video and I believe they will be posted here shortly! Thanks Mike and John! JOEY P.S. "I found a new drug" DRAG RACING!!!!!
  8. Are you making your own mounts or using John's Kit? What I'm getting at is I'm using Johns and I'm not having any issues. JOEY
  9. Mine all came from JTR, Here is the link https://shell7.tdl.com/~jags/Datsun-Z-LS1-V8_Order.html. If you click on the LS1 picture, Thats my Z. All fit well and JTR is great to deal with and the prices are good. JOEY
  10. Hey Tom!!! What was the price? Sounds kind of similiar to mine, Except I have 2 18" glass packs going into a Dynamax muffler 3 inch in 3 out. Nice and quiet until I get on it!!! Oh yea mine if I remember was around 850.00 ouch!!!! Then if you add the 850.00 I paid for my Sanderson headers (Same ones JTR is offering now for those that don't know) Wow 1,700 in exhaust. Yes the project adds up!!! JOEY
  11. O.K.I was waiting for for someone else to start this thread. I recieved my shirt, hat and decals... If you have not recived, the wait is well worth the wait! Thank you very much Tim for going above and beyond!! JOEY
  12. Excellent idea! especially with no HYBRID show this year. My down fall is I work Saturdays and this Sunday I'm gonna get my Z ready for the Goodguys show in Pleasanton next weekend! Come to think of it, I think I will start a new thread in Motorsports or Nontech to see if anybody of our clan will be there! JOEY
  13. Con grats Grandpa Father Bill!!!!
  14. I can chime in on this one. As Dave menctioned, I had the 4L60e trans and I wasn't really happy with it. Reason being I built the car to drive and enjoy. Come on guys. The car is a sports car! Not to be a quarter mile rocket!(unless that's your intentions)LOL! One main thing that was very noticable is the Z is like 2 different cars. The torque and power with the t-56 is amazing. WOW!!!!! Still have to switch my ECU from auto to manual, Thanks Mike! JOEY
  15. Hey Dale!! I pondered the belt routing also. Without a long story, my belt routing is the same as yours except...... I kept the tensioner in the oringinal spot, upper right (passenger) and I installled the idler (groved) next to the waterpump for added tension. Idler and belt are both from Goodyear. My crank pulley an underdrive from SLP. Anybody interested in part numbers, Let me know! JOEY
  16. 1977 280Z COUPE. (bought off long time customer for song and dance) 1) 00 Camaro 2) Was a 4L60e.... Now a T-56. Aftermarket shifter off E-bay (looks like a chrome rod) Cut down and a 03-04 Cobra shift knob. All fits with the lower boot and upper boot. 3) JOHNS CARS is my kit. Along with the kit I got the fuel pump, speedo box, and tac adapted. GREAT KIT and John is great to deal with!!! 4) Eldebrock f.p. regulator pumped up to 59 p.s.i. LS6 intake, oversized throttle body, throttle body by-pass, Z06 clutch, G.M. master, SLP underdrive pully, Sanderson 1 3/4 headers, 2 1/2 through 18" glass packs to 3" to magnsflo muffler 3 in 3 out. JTR radiator set up(works with john's hoses). JTR air intake (yes that's my car on JTR'S web site) LS1 edit for programming and harness by Dynatec. 2 speed taurus fan. 5) Hummmmm. Well I'll say the 6 months. I work 6 days, 10 hours aday. I only worked on the car only on sundays. Permitting, no nascar, S.F. Giants or Forty Niners Games! I would say if you stayed on it 40 to 80 hours permitting on expierence and work enviroment. 6) Tokito 5 way adjustable and Tokito springs. Oversized sway bars with poly bushings. Strut brace, 4 point SCCA roll bar. European lights, HID headlights. A ton of stereo equipment (i rock). R200 with a Nismo posi. 15x7 HKS Wheels with BFG drag radials. Again I think thats it! 7) WHATS LEFT TO DO?!?!?! Install my cam (same one MAS280 was pulling 11.1 in, q45 rear end with c/v shafts and Brake upgrade. O.K. GUYS!!! Can I be part of the LS1Z Club!!!! PLEASE!!!!!! I promise to be an outstanding member!! We can bond as one!!! HA HA HA or am I serious?! JOEY
  17. O.K. Another Sorry, MAICHOR. I was running names off the top of my head and I knew I forgot a few. LONESTAR1 I'm not familiar with. I believe before my HYBRIDZ birthdate. CYRUS. Oh yea I've seen his car many times after it was sold to KHASHIBI1. I believe the car is know gone and MikeJTR has the crossmember or engine mounting. Jeromio (spelled his a.k.a. wrong) Haven't seen a post from him in a while. Soooo I guess we have a pretty complete list of LS1 Z'S. What about the guy in the Santa Cruz area that did the Smog legal swap? JOEY
  18. HEY TIM!!!! Years ago back in my college days. I was was totally into Opel G.T.'s. I even built a pumped 1.9l motor in my engines class. Small block chevy valve train, custom ground cam, high compression pistons, side draft webers and the list goes on. The car scooted. Times have changed... I went from a Camaro nut to a Hybridz freak!!! Enough of my story.. What I'm getting at is I had 2 G.T.'s as donner cars and I stripped them. I still have all the parts!!! Boxes and boxes!!! A s#%t load of parts! Pretty much everything except body parts (hood, doors, body) And yes I would love to get rid of them! P.M. me a list and I will find. Need to clean the garage out!! Or I'm in the S.F. bay area and we could dig through boxes if your planning another road trip. Let me know. I'm going on vacation this week for ten days. Sooo if I don't respond right away I will when I get back!!! JOEY
  19. Sorry David! Had your A.K.A. Wrong. Sorry boosted98gsx It's QWIK240Z, Not QUICK240. I was close! JOEY
  20. Dale pretty much summed it up. I too am using John's kit with the JTR radiator, cold air ducting and headers. Maybe try doing a search under user names like DALEMX, MAS280, PHANTOM, JERONIMO, QUICK240, 1FLYFAST1 or me. Did I forget somebody? All of us are using the LS1 and there is a ton of info! JOEY
  21. I agree with Tony. Granted I'm running a LS1. But... The stock location works great. To answer your question? Yes! T.B.I G.M. motors used a low pressure, intake pump. I believe around 13 to 15 p.s.i. Now adapting it to a datsun tank would be some work. I really don't see an advantage. Hope this helps! JOEY
  22. HAPPY BIRTHDAY HYBRIDZ!!! You guys made a dream project come true! You guys made my life soooo much easier! You guys are the greatest!!! Amazing all the knowledge and friendship here!! THANK YOU AND.... YOU ROCK!! JOEY
  23. Hey Dale!!! Looks like I'm looking at my motor!! Yea I would like to thank MAS280 also for the lead on that adapter kit. My original idea for the oil pressure was to use a drain plug of the same pitch. Drill a hole through the center and tap it to the datsun threads. Well.... The first one I was a little off. For 5.99 plus shipping can't go wrong. Question Dale? My oil pressure switch doesn't look like that. (newer style?) Mine has a single wire to it. Just wondering what the diff is. JOEY
