Thats Funny!!!

I'm located in NORCAL! My shop is in Orinda. I figure most or all would say SEARCH! HA HA! (jk) John's Cars has a kit for the LS1, JTR has headers and intake ducting. My LS1 Z has been on the road and track for almost a year! Gotta love it! Anyways pm me and go from there! This site rocks and there is a ton of info here! WELCOME JOEY

LS1 guys - ?? about coolant line under TB
LS1 Z replied to VinhZXT's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
No need for the by-pass kit. What I did is run a hose from the nipple (under the intake) to a T, from JTR! The T is spliced into my upper hose. JOEY -
Didn't know what a 432Z was but... I found this to those that are in the dark like me! http://zhome.com/History/432Z.htm

New alternator mounting bracket for LT1
LS1 Z replied to nazar's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
I would say..... YES!!!!! Reason being, My LS1 alternator is located on the opposite side, in the same place. Looking at my Z w/ John's cars mounting (set close to the firewall, similiar to JTR's) no problem! JOEY -
Hey Owen! From LS1 expierence in my S30 and soon to be LS1-FD, I can only answer 1-3. 1. Used LS1 pull out... Anywhere from 3500.00 to 5000.00 for a complete pull out. (engine, trans, wiring, ecu, acc, everything) 2. Z06 clutch works great! Scroggin & Dickey for good prices. 3. Wiring.. Pretty much only have to hook up like 5 wires for the LS1 to run. Power, grounds, fans, fuel pump. Forgetting one? Vats needs to be bypassed. How to adapt to a Z32TT, Not sure, I would think with a wiring diagram, Shouldn't be too hard! I believe It's been done by at least one person on this site. And I thought they had some kind of manual for sale?. JOEY

DAMN!!!!! BRETT!!!! Nice numbers!!! Wait a minute..... For those of you that don't know, The motor in my Z is IDENTICAL to Brett's. Same motor, heads, intake, cam ect...... Sooo what's the diff???? EXHAUST!!! Brett has dual exhaust and long tube headers. I believe his RX-7 is 2.5 all the way out and manderal bent. Could be wrong and John or Mike correct if so. Mine (didn't know at the time) is 2.5 into 3" and not manderal bent, And Sanderson/ JTR shorty's. No complaint about the headers! The amount I paid for my exhaust, It should be manderal bent! 850.00!!!! Live and learn! Gotta get marching on the FD. Will be in contact, next time in Sac for some racing! Possibly next weekend the 14th!? JOEY

HUMMMMM... I've ran across this quite recently with a guy MAS280 and I sold some parts to for a guy doing a 5.3L swap into something like a 65 Chevy. Main problem is your gonna want to use the LS1 harness. The LM7 harness will end up with the ECU in the engine compartment, LS1 goes in under the battery into the passenger compartment! Your also gonna need either LS1 or Z06 intake, fuel rails and the balancier. Wiring the Z (s30 right?) is much easier than the RX-7. There used to be a sticky here on this site from MAS280 for wiring. Not hard at all, I watched a member here modify a harness in a couple of hours. Or maybe he will repost it. (be patient he's on vaca this week) JOEY P.S. haven't looked at your granny's link yet. but it looks very familiar!

STEVEJ!! I too had a shift fork problem. Couldn't get car into second. The trans comes out very easly, W/O removing the motor!!! The biggest pain in the *** for me was my exhaust, It is all one piece!!! I didn't even have to remove the center console. After the trans crossmember is out, lower it down a bit and remove the 2 bolts for the shifter. JOEY

Nice about John's Cars kit and the Z, is the amount of room. I've had my pan off with out raising the motor. I've pretty much have taken the whole front off as well as heads and headers, with the block still bolted in. And lets not forget I've switched out the trans 3 times!!! For a HYBRID, not bad to work on at all! JOEY

Hey Ernie, I thought you had a skid plate on the Z? JOEY p.s. get a hold of me about dynotuning!
-
Thats a good question Brett... We didn't do a pull with my stock tune. According to MAS280 and Rick at Synergy, I was probably around 350-360 at the wheels. Mind you guys.... When I pulled my 11.3 @ 119. I wasn't using my ecu. I was using MAS280'S ecu with a dynotuned program that's identical to what Brett is running around with right now (his motor in the fd is the same as as mine with the exception he has long tubes) and still with a MAF. I didn't like the drivability at all and when I wasn't racing I would switch back. Wide open throttle was great around town or freeway sucked! What I'm getting at Brett, is when you get your ecu, See Rick and do the SD tune and you will be driving a hole different animal!!!!!!!!!! HANDS DOWN!!!!! JOEY
-
Hey Dale!!! Merry Christmas! Santa left me the same set up!!! I thought of putting it on my Z..... Then back to have the car re Dynotuned to get full potential. I think I'll save it for the FD. You are gonna need to go with 4 inch intake ducting. JTR has all of that!!!! JOEY
-
O.K. post done on weight............ Going to the track tomorrow.... Will post some killer times! JOEY

Once again, no offence Brett!!! Mike Knell was over Mike's house (mas280) on Sunday with his scales. My Z weighed in at 2941. Still have the bumpers on it. I have MSA 4 point bar and alot of stereo equipment. Other than that the norm. And a full tank of gas, no driver and R200/q45. Here's the numbers....... R/F 692 L/F 718 R/R 756 L/R 776 Weight dist. 48/52 JOEY

MIKELLY.... I'm happy with the AFR 205'S. My FD project I'm going with TEA stage 3, 5.3 heads. MAS280'S heads on his LS2-RX7. What I'm getting at, Is Mike ordered a set of heads from the east coast that just came out. According to Mike and the guys at Synergy, They are the hottest thing out right now. Can't think of the name but I'm sure he will chime in with the info! JOEY

F*#K you Mike!!! O.K. I'll do a post on how I'm the new HEAVY Z. No offence Brett!!!!

Forgot to add a couple of add ons that could or did make some what of a difference. Changed out John's cars pump (walbro 190) to walbro 255. Switched out the stock injectors to Ford Svo 30lb (36lb). Reason being it seemed the car was running lean at top end.(pinging). JOEY

I'm using 90's ford taurus 2 speed fan (3.8l). With a little bit of trimming it fits very nice with the Jtr rad and mounting. No a/c. never had an overheating problem. Or some people have used the camaro fans. I have a set of those if your interested JOEY
-
Mods to the motor.... AFR 205 heads, Texas Speed and performance cam, Sanderson/JTR headers and all the usual bolt ons. Another note on the SD/Synergy tune: As well as the hp and torque, The car is ALOT more driveable now. Idle is alot smoother (112 center line), Throttle responce is instant and cruising on the freeway (6th gear, 70 mph around 1700 rpm's) is like my Integra, nice and comfortable. The car is alot more fun to drive. What I have to do next is switch out the trans. I believe I have a bent shift fork. The car is very hard to get into 2nd and if your out at the track forget it! The good news is my RX-7 doner motor came with what looks like a rebuilt trans! Hopefully be out at the track this Saturday! JOEY
-
I've seen the car a few times. The pictures look nice, seeing the car in person, awesome!!! Now....... Pushing it around with no tie-rod ends... What is up with that Mike! Very nice color, I thought my install was clean. Mike is doing a very clean install. Keep it up! JOEY

Finally had a chance to get Dyno tuned this weekend. I went with speed density.(no-more MAF). I went to SYNERGY in Fremont. ph. 510-796-3749 or e-mail Rick@synergymotorsports.net. I was there from 8:00 to 2:00. I was refered to him by MAS280. Funny thing I was the guinnie pig to see what kind of tuning they do. I was totally impressed. The end result was 419.3 rwhp and 402 lbs of torque!!! Rick with out a doubt knows LS1'S and how to tune! http://ebiz.netopia.com/synergy/pictures/view_alone.nhtml?profile=pictures&UID=10203 The reason for Speed Density is more h.p., torque and quicker throttle responce! The only down fall is not as good gas milieage. JOEY

LS1 guys: Octane requirements for your LS1Z
LS1 Z replied to desert dog's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
I agree with David (qwik240z). Use the gas that's recommended for the motor. I WAS having pinging problems at WOT at the track. The problem as too small fuel pump (walbro 190) for the engine mod's I did. Gone to Walbro 255 and switching out the injectors this week for Ford SVO 30 lb (flow 35). Remember on a LS1 or any motor with knock sensors, pinging will retard the timing! JOEY -
Welcome!! Not to send you to search, Check it out. You will find this web site the Best and a ton of knowledge. I thought about a Z32-LS1 swap but decided to go FD (95 rx-7) instead. It can and has been done. Z32's are nice cars, with a LS1 awesome! JOEY
