  1. ive checked all my grounds and went over everything twice. from what ive heard latly from hybridz and from my Z shop guy its a 50/50 the CAS or the AFM i guess i need them both 2 find out for sure but i will clean the CAS and make sure its clean and nothing is getting in the way of signals and what not. as for the AFM ihope i can find one 2 try and go from there. this car is on the edge of being on the road hope ican stop driving my pickup and enjoy another Z thanks again guys ill post an update and some pics when this badass is running
  2. im leaning more towards the CAS being messed up i wish i could find another one 2 try or buy to see this thing burn some rubber. the shop guy siad it sounded like the AFM but i dont think thats it i guess i could try one of those 2. who knows a mega squirt would prob cost me the same in the end naybe i should go that route and forget about this old stuff. ..... but then they have won haha
  3. wow thanks for the replies. ive cleaned all sensors befor my post i changed senors and cleaned the ECU plugs. the light that comes on now "but has already been flickering in my head" is the CAS, Befor i put this motor in i cleaned it up and painted the thing. i had the intake and exaust off but i left the CAS on it is a 81 so it has it on the block and bottom pully. I may have sprayed some paint all over it haha would that make this problem? or would cleaning it all down sanding the paint off the pulley even matter? im not exactly sure how the CAS picks up the singnal but i would assume its with magnets or something like that. so befor i tear into it what are the odds of the engine paint messing up with my ignition signal?. thanks again guys now i have some more hope bfeor sending it off to a shop anyone have a 82-83 dizzy haha
  4. anyone have a turbo ECU and or harnes they wanna sell? i figure thats my problem with intermitent.. problemruns good then runs like crap, and cant drive under load. stock 81 turbo with 3inch full exaust. would the O2 sensor make it like that? it was new when i put it in. im trying to get ahold of the local Z shop and get a pro on the job but he doesnt like to pick his phone up haha
  5. very interesting setup. the 6 coils looks very agressive. i look a bit on the website. that set-up is pretty pricey. very kool good work. i think if i did that setup id make a mount that bolts onto the valve cover and have each coil right above its cylinder upside down. that would make the spark wire super short. maybe number the bottoms of the coils but i think im killing the idea haha. and where did you get that FPR i want that very nice
  6. are you talking about the o2 sensor? thats the first new peice iput on the car. as for the CAS im not sure what one thats not working right does. my car only runs bad under load... so i guess it could be anything in the ignition. Im going to try a couple more things and if nothing then its going to a shop, godi hate paying for work on a car but if it gets this beast running then i guess its money well spent, i cant ride my bike avery much longer .......dam
  7. ok now imade sure all the connections are good and everything seemsto work. the problem is it wont drive. I guess under load its not getting enuf spark and the plugs foul. im thinking its the + hook-up on the coil.... well thats where im going to start. im tihnking of putting + from the battery and see if that solves it. it will be on a switchso i can turn it off and see if there is a diff with it on and off.... will this hurt my ignition or is this safe? i just want to be sure its getting enuf volts. then ill go threw everything else...maybe the coil is bad.. i have new wires and i think i did the cap and rotor..
  8. asome thanks!! the only thing i need to know is witch sensor is the one for the ecu? the 2 wire or the one wire??
  9. well my turbo still wont run right. I have cleaned everything checked all the sensors and all that fun stuff. The problem is it never runs smooth, well not never but rarely. those are the fun spots. The last thing i did was clean the ECU and it run great for a min then back to running like a tractor then runs a little ruff and then good and then ruff then like a tractor and so on. any alien wizerdry that can solve my frustrating turbo swap?
  10. my car was runningbad and good and i checked everything then when i unplugged the ECU and plugged back in and it run better not the best since i need to get the TPS in the right spot after messing with it but befor the #5 and #6cylinder was not working.
  11. holy cow its pretty much running good, the only problem is its run ruff at idle and off idle as soon as it gets in the boost wooooosh hahaha sounds awsome. I figure its the TPS or TPV how do u tune it? i heard somewhere u can use a votage meter somehow hmm i hope this is the last peice in my turbo puzzle
  12. they all came off very easy, it turned out the problem was my ECU connection. should have spent more time on that but the N/A fuel rail looks allot better than the cut one that was on there. I found the best way to take them off was to put a bigger hose like a heater hose over the smaller injector hose and use plyers.
  13. i know i got to take the rail off, thats the easy part. i want 2 change rails and save 4 injectors. i dont have the cash to change them all right now so i got 2 only do the two that are not working. i guess i could use the old rail and when i can buy the other 4 then go to my other rail. putting another rubber hose over the rubber hose of the injector then useing plyers can crack the seal of the hose, i was just wondering wht some of you guys have done
  14. Ok whats the best way of getting these injectors off the fuel rail without messing up the rubber fuel line? id love to know how. ive messed up a few and trying to be nice just gets my fingure stabbed with a screw driver haha anyways love to know anyones tricks
  15. thanks Thumper i think i got a better understanding of how it all works. ive been posting some newbee sounding post but u guys have been great. thanks allot i changed the FPR but no diff ima just buy some new sensors ad be done with that.
  16. nice work, nice rice ha jk. i had a big boy tip on my old Z R.I.P. cant wait to feel my boost for the first time. Just got to get this dam thing running right. but my bike give me plenty speed at the moment ha
  17. is the thermo time sensor the one with 2 wires? i dont have that on my turbo. im thinking of putting it on cause i have some extra engines with it on it. could i use that for my ecu temp sensor?i guess i should just buy all new sensors and stop posting haha, thanks tho
  18. did you follow the wiring from GrayZ? my swap started right up when i hooked it up like he did. was the engine running befor u put it in?did you clean all your grounds?
  19. I GOT ONE! ha just tryin to figure the diff with all these water sensor and if i can interchange them, and if anyone has one so but thanks
  20. My question is what water temp sensor is what? On my 81 turbo swap i have 2 temp sensors. one has one leed comming off of it and the other just has the bullet right on the sensor. what one is for the computer and witch one is for the temp guage? and can u interchange them? Now on some other engines i have kickin around they have temp sensors that have a 2 wire plug instead of single wire bullet conector. can i add the 2 wire conector and hook it tomy ecu and make it work?
  21. still no winner ha... anyways i took the vacume off the FPR and the thing started running great till it ran out of gas i guess... is it the FPR?
  22. Ive been chasing down my "Rich" problem on my turbo swap. i pulled off the vacume line to my FPR and the thing started to run great for a sec, is my FPR messed up and giving just a bit to much fuel pressure and making it just a little rich?? cause it stumbles and runs like crap i have some FPR sitting around should i try swapping them or should i buy a new one...or could it be part of another problem all together? haha i love Z's
  23. i guess that sounds right, but i think when you pull the flap closed it cuts some of the fuel down as well as the air. The point im stuck at is should i mess with the AFM or keep chasing down wiring issues? i really want to drive this thing so bad.
