  1. Wow, the more you guys talk about the car, the more I like it. Then I scroll up to the picture and just can't get over how ugly the darn thing is. I guess you can't have your cake and eat it. Well at least it's more practical than that new 2 million dollar ferrari that can't even be driven on the street. Guess you can never have your cake and eat it too.
  2. Thats the point though. I'tll never happen. You can blow past someone a little slower in a Z06 and image left in their sublimenal memory will be of a lot cooler looking car.
  3. 1.25 mill tickets, and they can't make the car at least better looking than my z? No thanks. And I thought the ferrari enzo was ugly. I can think of a lot better things to waste my lottery winnings on than that!
  4. holy crap! that thing cost more than the motor! Well you guys have elevated the game too high for me. Quoc, about how many kidneys would I have to sell for the one you got?
  5. Sounds killer. Where are you getting the header from and how much do they go for? I wanted to start a thread asking what the difference in power would be with the stock exhaust manifold since headers are so expensive. For instance an l28et gets choked at about 400hp. Where is the restriction with the rb25? I know you could use that same turbo with a stock manifold but how much power would you be losing?
  6. Hey Jeff, All this time I thought you had an rb26 for some reason. I'm curious what are your mods to get to 500hp? Nice hood btw. I hope to get one just like it this year.
  7. Man thats sweet! I gotta start making friends at the dyno. $200 per hour for tuning! YIKES!
  8. I actually went haltech over other options because it was so popular and figured everyone would know how to tune it easily. Looks like the nearest dyno knows only AEM
  9. Yeah, I'm not really feeling the grainger or $25 ebay stuff. The good ones run $200+ so for an extra 100 you can have an ebc.
  10. Well been doing some internet research, and it seems a lot of people are saying the haltech boost controller is junk. The E-boost2 is going for $450 on ebay which is decent imo since a greddy boost gauge is about $180 and the cheapes EBC is about $350-$400. Any of you aussie's heard any reviews good or bad on the e-boost?
  11. Haltech can controll boost for $80? This is news to me. I would def. go that route. I need to further investigate this. I would too like to learn, but I don't want to practice on this motor since it is so costly. I will try and watch what whats going on when someone else is tuning, and learn. I'm pretty good with computer stuff. As soon as I get a laptop, I will send it too you. 260det, I'm glad you mentioned the time. I was told it would take 3 hours at $200 an hour from one tuner. I need to start looking for other dyno shops to see what they have.
  12. OOps just noticed your's is a totally different motor and car. Sorry.
  13. Do a search for "IC piping" and there is an exact thread with everyone's pic. That being said. Mine isn't on there but is exactly like bastaad's and others. Here u go. 2 1/2 in. Notice I have to use a 45 deg coupler at the TB to clear the dizzy. Thanks bastaad! Here's one thread http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=100376&highlight=ic+pics
  14. are these supposed to be more efficient then the heat shields that aptturbo and hks sell? I know MSA sells a turbo blanket for $90. Is there a difference in quality?
  15. seriously yo? thats kinda sucks for the price those suckers cost.
  16. Well, in the qest of trying to achieve big power, reliably, I am starting to understand the plight of the V8'ers more and more. That being said, I am already in too deep. I am a novice at tuning (actually I know nothing about it but would like to learn.) I am currently running a 7psi wg spring, and have not yet purchased a boost controller. I want to save up and get the E-boost2 which is a gauge and controller in one. In the meanwhile, though I want to know that I am driving on safe levels. buying a WB02 would be pointless for me at this point because I have no idea how they work, or how to tune a stand-alone. Forgive my ignorance but the purchase would not be justified unless you were trying to tune on the street am I wrong? My thoughts were, perhaps I should take my car to a tuner, and put the money into professional dyno time, and when its set, leave it alone. My question concerning boost and tuning is, if the car is tuned at 7psi, is it completely different then when running higher boost so that the car has to be running that certain amount of boost when being tuned? or does the map follow a linear/mathematical direction that accounts for the changes in boost pressure? If need be, I can let the car sit until I've saved up the $1500 or so to get a WB, Boost controller, boost gauge, and dyno time. My once reliable na daily driver has turned into a sitting money pit, but I've come to accept that. Gonna get another car early next year. BTW, anyone know of some resources I can start with to learn the basics of tuning? The haltech manual is greek to me. I need a "tuning for extreme dummies" type of book/articles to read.
  17. How about compared to a comparable t3/t4? Like this one http://www.speedshopthagard.com/garrett/T3TO4R.html
  18. Well, bastaad is selling his for 5k, and sr240z for 10k, with all the bells and whistles.
  19. I haven't seen any updates from jeff since getting a new turbo. Certainly not on his site. Man I want a GT35R so bad. Just way too expensive.
  20. Drive an V8z then drive an L28etz and pick whichever gives you the most joy.
  21. What do u mean by better? More hp potential? More bang for the buck? Theres only one member on here who's done an s30 vg30det swap, and it was $$$$ and lots of fabrication. Perhaps you want a better (bigger) challenge, so go vg30det.
  22. What do u mean by a full exhaust system?
  23. Mine was shooting bearings a few weeks ago Anyhoo, how do you tune for flames? I'm guessing it would sacrifice performance with such rich spots.
  24. Hmm, so does that have to do with an improperly sized turbo? I'm guessing this will kill the turbo over time. The GT35 isn't that large a turbo though. I guess I don't understand what would cause the surge in this particular turbo as opposed to others, particularly larger ones
  25. I don't get what you mean by the surge. What is the cause of this?
