Well I may be coming to Cali, but I'm not sure the details just yet. I'm trying to set it up so I can fly into Either John Wayne, and do everything I need to do around the San Diego to LA zone, or Fly into Sac and visit with Steve and Ian and the guys up north. More importantly here, what tires and brakes are you using as well. As the others mentioned, those springs are WAY to stiff for a street going Z. And remember, Lower isn't always better... I'd bet your bumpsteer is WAY out on the extreme as well. Raise the car back up and go with some Suspension technique springs or something that is a stock configuration minus an inch... Progressive springs work sooooo much better on a street going Z. What kinda Caster/ camber and toe are you running Simon? I know you have adustable arms all the way around... Mike

What are your caster, camber and toe settings, also tire presures... BTW, Those tires are problem number 1. Good street tire, but poor choice for a track event. Have you ever had the car setup with corner weights??? We might need to put you on the list to get a set of rear control arms once I sort out the supplier issues... OOOPS, I let that one slip out... You will find people who susbcribe to this and those who don't. I don't. I think sectioning the strut assembly is a serious issue and I'm working on something that will eliminate this very thing right now. My reasons are this: The Z struts are designed and valved for the Z. People use VW Rabbit and MR2 strut inserts that weren't designed for the weight and suspension of the Zcar. My top hat design will do away with the current isolator and allow you to gain about an additional inch of strut cartridge stroke, allowing you to lower the car two plus incehs without losing the dampening. TT350, No one said it "Couldn't be done" but how much are you willing to pay for it to be done? Looking at pics from the MSA show I noticed several tube chassis cars there and that is how you want to go about building a Z intended for AWD. The trans tunnel needs to be completely scrapped and relocated, as well as widened. It can be done. Hell anything C-A-N be done with enough dollars to throw at it. Mike

I've carried a concealed weapon for over 15 years, either through work or personal reasons. Do yourself a favor and bone up on the laws in your state. Carrying a weapon, particularly a hand gun may sound pretty "BAD ASS" but the legal implications can put your ASS in a BAD situation if you don't know what is expected of you at all times. Also, do a check on the good samaritan laws in your state as well. Carrying a loaded handgun puts you at much more risk to litigation than anything you have done in your life to this point. By making the right or wrong decision to pull a weapon, not even using it, you could lose everything you own, and possibly be charged with breaking the law yourself. Don't take the above advice lightly and I hope you never have a need to pull your weapon. Mike

Forgive me if I missed something in the ad, but there is a LOT missinf on that 245HP motor... It DID go for a nice price, but there is a full intake and induction missing, as well as all pulleys and the exhaust manifilds... There is still a LOT of money to be spent, probably more than the guy got the motor for. As a complete motor and tranny purchase it would be a MUCH more attractive purchase. Then all the dealer visits would be cut out. Mike

Hold off before you do some more research. I bought the stuff and their Etching cleaner/ Metal Prep for mine and the stuff didn't work as well as I had hoped... Follw the instructions to the "T" or you won't have a permanent success and will be doing it over again. I don't hink I'll use it again... Next time will be etching primer and really good paint... Well today started easy enough... Normal gig. I ended the day driving home from Reston, Va. (2.5 hours) which is a real bear. On the way home I ended up hitting a 4x4 post laying in the road. No way to avoid it as it was in a blind corner and I had an Excersion blocking the left lane. Flatted the rims on the right side on my Honda Civic. They are customs and I'm not sure they will balance... Not good. Anyway, I get home and the wife is in tears... Her 89 year old grandmother has been diagnosed with Cancer of the liver, Kidney (Her last one) and intestinal tract. Now I am logical and am thinking "Damn, 89 years old... I hope I live that..." but she is thinking of the pain her Granny is in and Donna shares the many qualities her Grandmother has. Kindest, gentlest woman you would ever want to meet. Donna is just thinking of the pain, and the suffering the woman will now endure over the coming days. I'll be out of pocket for the next few days as I stay close to her side. Love your loved ones, often. Tell them what they truly mean to you every chance you get. Mike

Yea, but once you glaze the surfaces of both, the clutch should be pitched and the flywheel should at minimum be polished. I'd expect more of the same based on your description... That T5 won't last long either... Especially with the best in front of it. Mike

...No boys and girls, we aren't talking some devious sex act with a transvestite! I'm talking about crating up the T56 I sold Tom Sumner. Last night I took various materils laying around, plus a 1/4 inch sheet of ply wood and made a BOX, then bolted the tranny into the box in multiple locations in hopes that this thing will NOT move while in the box. I also taped up the tail shaft and vent tube so any of the residual fluid that might have been trapped in a passage (after draining) won't leak out. Today I'm gonna go ahead and get some rope to make handles out of, but MAN THIS THING IS HEAVY! The box probably weighs 20# alone! Alas, after some of the stories I've heard of parts being shipped and then damaged, I feel it was worth it. This trans is in excellent shape and shifts well, so I want to make sure it's new home gets it as it left me. Tom, I'll hopefully get it out this Friday, but certainly by next week! I've got to get ahold of Fedex and make sure the shipping isn't gonna kill me completely... Mike

Two things... Replace the clutch/ Presure plate, and get the flywheel resurfaced since you likely will have osme hot spots on it. Sounds like you cooked it off good. Mike
