  1. Sorry dude, but that was a early first generation Z car with a standard Gnose... Cool car though... It was also there in 2001. Don't recall seeing it in 2002, but it may have been there... Mike
  2. As quoted from the above link... "Drop the hammer, and with no especially refined technique, 60 mph is yours in a scalding 5.2 seconds, just 0.7 second behind a $34,750 SVT Cobra and the fastest time in this test by a full half-second. The first two shifts of the notchy box leave skid marks, and the fourth shift puts paid to 151 mph. "... Tell me again how the 350Z will out accelerate a mustang??? BTW, Kudos to the Z for coming in 1st, and journalists never lie... And priests don't touch little boys either... Mike
  3. Yup, that is Marc's car... He has my custom Suspension on it as well... Very clean car! Mike
  4. Dan, you are right, but they won't make it like that... Here's why: power EVERYTHING! Windows? Check, Doors? Check, Steering? Check, You name it, they load them in with TONS of electronic CRAPPO! My wife's 95 Mustang weighs in at 3200# and could loose a bunch of that in just the LEATHER interior... But, alas we must be coddled and swaddled while we are zooming along... The reason we throw in the Hyundai, well it has better lines and is a HECK of a lot less, even if it is a Hyundai... At least the new SVO Cobra has the torque and HP to move its 3500# heft with authority... Mike
  5. But lets put this into perspective... DragonFly was in a mostly stock 160-170 Flywheel HP Z. The 350Z is making more than 100HP on him... Mike
  6. Uhmmm NO, Actually I had one on paper OUT THE DOOR here in Fredericksburg for $35,500 INCLUDING Taxes Title and Tags... That IS the going price for a 400HP SVT Cobra (That apparantly has issues with motors grenading...), But hey, what do I know... No way, No how that the 350Z is doing 12 second quarter mile times... However, the SVT Cobra has been into the mid 12 second range... I'll tell you this much, Don't ever, EVER get fed up with your projects and go car shopping... It can be dangerous... ALMOST Bought a Ford Lightning and a Ford Cobra like that within the last year... Mike
  7. Yup, right now it is a D16 1.6 motor. There are plans to eventually go with a Vtec motor, but finding a NON-JDM unit has been a challenge... I'm trying to steer him away from the JDM specific stuff, as this is his daily driver and I don't want the nightmare of finding a JDM specific part if it breaks... SOOO I figure the turbo Kit will keep him distracted for a little while. Then we'll either do a VTEC from a DelSol or 1.8 out of an Acura. Any, and I do mean ANY advice is welcomed, as I'm clue-less to turboing and Honda stuff... Mike
  8. Guys who makes a good, tunable biggyback ecc tuner for the 5.0? I'm still having pinging problems with the wife's mustang... We suspect all the mods aren't getting along with the ECC 4 computer. I'm also prepping for putting a set of aluminum svo heads and roller rockers, along with a E303 or B303 cam in the car over the winter/ early spring and I can only imagine what THAT will do for the tuner... Mike
  9. John, I love the lines on that body! Man I hope you get back into building Kits... Yours were the best around! I need a YZ Front clip to go with my white flared 74... Mike
  10. Don't know... that is a new one on me... Never saw that one before.. Mike
  11. Scottie, That was by no means a smack, and I know that you suspected about 600Flywheel HP when we talked during my visit last summer. I'm playing with my stepson's car to get the feel for turbo-ing, before I dive in head first, but I'm already looking at cmpression ratios, different pistons (Mine will put me at 10:1) and other combinations... Mike
  12. James, That is looking REALLY Good... Nice workmanship. Scottie's Numbers are lower than I would have thought, but still VERY impressive. You guys with these turbos are killing me! I'll be bending your ear as I do the install on my step sons D16 Civic. Mike
  13. Scott, Longevity of american cars??? I have a 1995 Mustang GT with TONS of mods that gets driven HARD every weekend. It has 123,000 miles on it... I could get in it right now and drive to that Waffle house in Texas and have Breakfast with you... My GMC Truck with a 350 in it has 247,000 miles on it, and made the 200K mark before I broke the crank due to towing abuse... As for the HP numbers, I've read three different articles related to the new Z that stated the HP to be at the wheels... BLKMGK has posted several times about what local cobra owners are seeing on the dyno... Search the archives for that data. The Tiburon Might just hold its value due to the fact that apparantly the company has had a pretty agressive turn around. My sister owns one of the older econo boxes, and you are right scott, they were pretty crappy little POSes. However, I'm telling you, the new car is impressive. I think Hyundai did a bang up job on this one. In the end it all boils down to personal taste. Its like picking women I guess!
  14. ...Not at all...different money, different project... I'm building a project rice burner to help the other side of the ZF racing business... Mike
  15. I think we need more data from the original poster... This is good info though... Lets keep it flowing... Mike

  17. Well Guys I bought a kit for the step sons car instead... Here is what I got for $500... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33742&item=1872924780&rd=1 I also got a Turbo Timer from HKS Off EBAY for $60... and I'm looking for an FMU and a boost controller... Any tips on setting this thing up will be greatly appreciated... It is gonna be set low on a stock Civic motor... Yes, I know he will grenade it over time, but we plan for a VTEC conversion next summer anyway... We also plan to go to Richmond to put it on the Dyno for tuning it properly... Mike
  18. Actually I'm not in a corner it seems. I had a meeting with my boss yesterday and he asked when or if I would be ready to start taking more program level responsibilities and I said that going back to the site, witnessing all I had accomplished, and seeing that the antics of a few had caused all this, and that I was indeed a good manager, I'm ready. I've learned, taken some valuable lessons from it, and look at it like boot camp... Glad I did it, but don't want to go through it again! Randy, I actually calculated it, and with selling my toys, house, cashing in my retirement and heading to the mountains, I could live quite a while up there AFTER buying land and a house. I just don't think I'm ready to walk away from this just yet. So I'm keeping the toys, cars, and the house... For now anyway! Mike
  19. Uh, for 35K you could buy a number of cars that would CLEAN its clock... The numbers advertised are at the flywheel, not the rear wheel... Found that out from one of the guys at Nissan. The Ford Mustank Cobra is cracking 390 AT the WHEELS... That my friends is REAL power. For 35K I'd have to look at the front drive Hyundai Tiburon and some custom bolt ons, or a two year old C5 vette. I'm liking the 350Z more and more when I see it on the road, but not 35K worth, no way, no how... Mike
  20. As some will recall, this past spring I was involved in a pretty serious HR investigation at my job where I supervised about 30 people. I was a Deputy program manager and personally responsible for generating well over 10million in revenue for my company. Anyway, I eventually survived the HR Investigation and moved onto another job with the same company, but at a different location and NOT managing people. Yesterday I had cause to go back to my former location to deliver some equipment for some tests that are being run. This required me to come into direct contact with those who levied the allegations against me. Part of my duties prior to the HR Action, were to build a state of the art IT Test facility, which has been nearly completed since I left the position back in March. It was good to see the fruits of my labor. As I walked through the corridors and office spaces and watched some of the testers working, it was bittersweet knowing that I had created the idea to build the facility, and then sold it in the government and my company, and to see it realized was something pretty awesome. However, the fact that I now drive 18 miles further, and am no longer in the role I was formerly in simply left a bitter taste. Four out of the five employees who ganged together and made some serious allegations against me are still there. I saw three of them. Funny thing is that ALL FOUR have been put on notice for poor performance, insubordination, and a host of other issues. I have a meeting scheduled today to discuss my future with my current senior manager, and I know that the issue of managing people will come up. I think I needed to go back to my former job to get closure, to SEE for myself that what I was doing was right, and what occured, and the actions of others was the issue. Even though I was cleared in the HR review of the incident (I would have been fired otherwise), I needed to go there. I'm not sure if I'm "READY" to manage people again, but I may very well wade back into the pool. If I do, I will be investigating liability insurance for managers, JUST IN CASE... What still needs to be FIXED is the fact that an employee can make any host of claims of wrong doing by his or her supervisor, and a Companie's HR group MUST take action of some sort. However, as is often the case, the company is more concerned over a class action law suit, or a single law suit than doing the right thing by ALL parties involved. I can't say that my company acted any differently. They were less concerned about IF I had done anything wrong than they were about getting involved in a Law Suit. They weren't prepared for it when I came back to the table with my own lawyer, taped conversations I had with my Vice President (From my residence in Virginia, to his office in Virginia, Which is legal in Virginia). If companies really want to provide an environment that protects all parties, there should be accountability on all fronts. If an employee makes claims that a supervisor has done wrong, and then the claims go unfounded, there should be action taken against the employee or employees involved. Not sure how most companies handle these types of issues, but the research I have done shows that most companies handle it the way mine did...Poorly, and without protecting the manager or holding the employee accountable. Mike
  21. I'll post more later as I have a background in behavioral science, but my advice is GET AN OUTDOOR HOBBY! Buy a mountain bike, street bike, roller blades... Something to get your heart pumping outside for atleast an hour per day, couple of days per week... More later! Mike
  22. Former employee of mine bought a 94 A4 last year and had rear axle problems... I've said all along that the sleeper of 2003 will be the Hyundai... The 350Z should have looked like THAT car... They kick but at the track too! Mike
  23. Yes, Autopower makes a bolt in unit. I have one that has since been converted to a weld in unit and built upon further. Check http://www.ioportracing.com/ for a selection... Mike Kelly
