  1. I know I'm asking for the Holy Grail here, but would anyone be interested in trading a 240Z with minor rust for a 1996 Mustang? I don't care if the the Z is mechanically sound, just MINOR rust. The Stang, orignial owner, green, V6, auto, grey interior, new tires, no body damage ever, just a couple of minor dings, mostly original, only replaced radiator, and had alternator rebuilt, this car has served us very well, even though it is a Ford. Interior is in very good shape also. Any half serious interest, email me for some pics.
  2. Hanns, I'm glad to hear you seem to have found the problem. As for my Z, I sold the body shell, as it had a bit too much rust. But, I already have a line on a 72' Z with almost perfect interior for cheap and a 73' Z with a pretty decent body. I still have all my parts and pieces though, engine, trans, T72 turbo, etc. If you ever decide your Z is too much to handle, give me a call, I'll gladly take it off your hands. (just joking). Good Luck getting it operational.
  3. Hanns, I was just wondering if you have had time to fix the airbox and if you have found the source of the backfire? Good Luck! Jason
  4. I think a SHO motor would make a good swap into a Z. I think a ford T5 trans would be easy to adapt. Maybe add a couple of those ford 2.3 4cyl turbos, would make at least 350 to 400 h.p. with a good tune. I wish I were closer to this junkyard, I would definitely pick up the motor, even if I didn't use it, it would be good trading material. Good idea Hanns.
  5. yo, ur Z is looking good. Get er' done! and go fry some rice! I still like your flat black paint. Good Luck!
  6. I've seen these carbs on ebay for fairly cheap, check it out.
  7. Yeah, I agree, your Z sure is different, I like it! If it was mine I'd go with a T56 and some wider meats out back. Good Luck!
  8. yeah it's a nice motor, but not for a Z.............in my opinion
  9. I think it is very possible to be done by October, plenty of time. Just don't fall into the while I'm at it trap. Good Luck on your Z, keep posting on the progress.
  10. Congrats on the install...now get it running and go fry some rice!
  11. I don't think a 4.0 is a good swap for a Z. They are half decent motors for vans, rangers, etc. If I were you, (being you can get the van cheap), I would take the van, find some friendly salvage yard guys and trade the van for an older small block chevy and trans. I think it would be a fair trade. Anyway, good luck with whatever you do.
  12. Hanns, Man it really hurts to see the damage. Hopefully the damage is limited to the airbox and hood vent. Maybe check out that new billet metering block, it may be the culprit. May be a coincidence, but as you said no backfires with the old setup. I'm sure you will have it patched up in no time. Maybe you can install some type of small relief valve under or in the rear of the box to hopefully prevent this in the future. When you get a chance get the Z to a track you don't normally race at for a full 1/4 mile pass. I predict at least easy 9.90's, traction permitting of course. Take care Mr. Turbomeister and good luck on the repairs. Keep us posted. Jason, #1 fan
  13. Hi, I was just wondering if you have had a chance to try those headers yet. I hope they work for you. I found a set that is similar locally, so just wondering about fitment. Good Luck!!!
  14. dr hunt, sounds like a plan. You still gonna run the 406 on alky in the Z? Keep us posted on the progress and Good Luck!!!
  15. Yes, it has been done several times. The TPI will fit fine with the JTR motor mounts. Good Luck!
  16. The best solution is to replace the chrysler with a chevy, just kidding. Actually a well built 360 would make a nice combo in a z. I think some small block chrysler truck engine mounts would be fairly easy to modify to adapt to the datsun mount towers, altough a small setback plate may be wise. Good Luck!
  17. Congrats!! If you rade the 1/4 mile let us know how you do. Good Luck!
  18. HI, If it were me, I would use a 650 holley d.p. I think it would work great on a high-winding 283. Good Luck!
  19. I think it will fit, no problem. If I was doing this swap, I would look into getting one of those marine type front engine plate mounts with rubber mounting points. Then cut/weld/adapt it to fit, then you will have extra room for headers. A Caddy 472-500 fits, so a 460 should as well.
  20. No, I just checked with the Nevada dmv, and they don't allow Hybrid Z's. So, just send me the keys & title and I'll come get it. Just kidding, you might want to check out this site for the info you seek. http://www.dmvnv.com
  21. Hmmmmm, I think you had better hold on tightly, it's gonna be a wild ride! I think I would prefer the smaler cam for a turbo set-up though.
  22. Yo, Ur welcome for the advice. Kepp us posted on what you find. Again Good Luck!
  23. Yo, They say everything has it's price, If I hit the lotto, my first purchase will be a certain red Z... Turbomeister, hint, hint. We NEED more vids, Mr. T,M. crappy or not, we want em'. I think we can all agree, Hanns is da' man. Good luck on your continued success, Mr. Hanns.
  24. If I were in ur shoes, I would pull the heads, oil pan, camshaft. Use one of those little inspection mirrors, and inspect VERY carefully. If any sand is in the cam bore or oil galleries, take down the whole motor and clean accordingly. In my book, the price of a gasket set, and a weekend, is alot better than rebuild/rebore, new cam, bearings, etc. Anyway, good luck!! Don't take a chance, it's not worth it.
