Why are there no CF hoods or parts for s130's?

What do you mean? Heres some of my ideas for my Z and my ideas for a possible carbon hood design. Tell me what you think, open to ideas -

Carbon hood sounds awesome, I have a design idea for a hood for the 280zx.I will post pics here in a day or two when I get a chance prob wednesday but maybe tomarrow, plus I'll post updated pics of my widebody design for the S130. -
I've seen one of those here in Vegas except it was built off of a Z31 chassis. Oh yeah it is extended about 3 feet in the front. That one looks pretty lousy, they did not change out the engine or any of the other Z car dead give aways. Those things make me and

I had a feeling that was the Arizona Z car kit. I just did not quite recognize it under the blue paint and front the rear view, since Arizona Z car never showed a rear view like that, that I can remember.

Offical Ole Blue Z's Paint Job Thread! ALOT OF PICS!!!!!
Drftn280zxt replied to a topic in Body Kits & Paint
Wow, looking good. You do have a lot of metal flake in that paint, very nice. Can't wait to se it finshed, It'll be a real thing of beauty when complete. Keep it up! I'd recommend on the engine bay to go with a two tone combination. Too much of one color can look bad aesthetically speaking. Blue/ silver or blue/chrome would look great. I know that is part of my goal Blue/chrome/stainless/polished/black. When all of those finishes are balances equally you've got a jaw dropper. Just a few recommendations from an artistic point of view! -
Not that I'd purchase it, but I thought you guys might find it interesting especially on a street car. Definitely the best widebody I've seen for a ZX, but I don't find it flattering enough to purchase one. That was redundant..oh well

The two pics of the blue ZX in the lower right corner? looks a lot better than the Kaminari one with the "squarelike" wheel arches. But still not what I want to do. Is that the Arizona Z Car kit?

definitely a nice Z, but I'm not feeling the Fairlady emblem

280ZX Rear Suspension - fixes??
Drftn280zxt replied to ecp48's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I think coilovers would be your best bet. But I'm no engineer...yet! -
I'd like to see a blue similar to Daytona blue but with a slightly larger flake, a lighter hue, and some pearlescent mixed in, and on top of that a nice translucent coat of candy blue in the same hue. I am very favoritized to Blue/Black/Silver color combos though. It is a very clean look that can grab attention but not be overwhelming. Just my .02.

That is sweet. I love how it cleans up the tail panel. I want to do something like that some day with flush mount tail lights except they'd be custom too. Very nice metal work. Something that might help make those lens seem smaller is a larger rear valance, that is a valance the comes closer to the ground, just my .02

cool, I have to definitely check into precision gear's product next summer when I can put more money into the Z.
-
Cool, got any hard evidence to prove it. Personally it sounds right the parts to come from a large supplier in Japan so a place like that seems believeable, after all NISMO would sell parts unless they were good and typically the best companies are those that have been around for a good long while. Thanks for that piece of information.
-
Thanks for that information. I'll have to check out that link when I get a chance.

Okay another question. You mentioned that the Precision Gear LSD is exactly the same as the NISMO unit. Is the NISMO unit actually just the Precision Gear unit or Vice Versa, or are ther Coincidentally two LSDs that are exactly the same? As read up I noticed that all of the Precision Gear LSD's at least the one we are talking about, come(s) from Japan, kind of like NISMO products. Coincidence? Another question does the NISMO unit come with the spacers? Or is this more a comfort option to feel the diff is as protected as can be? Now that you have mentioned this fact I might consider the Precision Gear Unit. Why pay twice as much (assuming the NISMO LSD is $1200) when I can get it for about $700. Oh yeah please don't get eager for a sale. This is planning for a year down the road (aka Summer of 06). I've still got a little of research to do on the subject of gearing ratios yet anyway. But you are definitely on the hitlist for top three to purchase from as far as this r200 LSD goes, especially if you are willing to do the install.
-
Thanks for all the feedback. Now that I have recieved the answers that I was looking for, the NISMO LSD seems to fit the bill perfectly, it drops right in (no other extra outside parts needed) and it will be the "perfect" LSD for drifting in my Z. If I'm not mistaken the NISMO unit is about $1200 right? Can anyone fill me in on this. The NISMO catalogue does not have prices in it. Thanks again for all the feedback I truly do appreciate it. W/O you guys my Z would not get very far, because I'd have a much harder time determining which parts to get, and how to install specialty parts.

lookin good. How much for that paint job? # of Coats of Paint? # of coats of clear? Can't wait to see it all finished, keep it up.
-
I would not be surprised if that guy put some good money into that paint job. Of course the lighting could play a part but I'm sure that has got to be pretty close the the paints actual color, but I'm no paint expert.

KUBO-Z you are thinking of 81 280ZXs those were all autos not 82. (I asked my Dad which has been workimg for Nissan/Datsun for nearly 30 years, not to mention he is an ASE Master Tech, I think he would know) To fill you in on production date mine was made in 1/82. Thank you JMortenson I assume you must have looked into the NISMO LSD or know someone that does/did to know that for 100% sure it is a 2way. As silly as it sounds between KAAZ, NISMO,and Cusco do any of them make and R200 diff ready to go with a 2way LSD, I've just heard installation is a pain in the butt. If not I guess I take the rear end to a drivetrain shop to ensure an LSD is installed correctly. ? Why would you go looking for an LSD for a 240sx when you've got an S130? DO they have the same diff? Yeah I know 280zx's are not the most popular car and for various reasons I'm sure. That is the very reason I want to build one up, weird as it sounds. I could very easily pick a 240sx and build a drift machine, but that is not very unique. 240Z, thats another thing, but still too popular. Someone has to be the underdog!

see I went to there web sites and did not see products for the S130. So I not sure how you found stuff. I did research and found nothing on the subject. As for seraching our forums all I've found is stuff related to R180s or R200 in Z31's, the 280zx seems to be left in the dark on everything kind of like me, I the last person to find stuff it seems. Anyway, the NISMO unit IS a 2way JMORTENSON? What question were you referring to that I had, The one about pinion gears? I'll have to check the production date badge to make sure it is an 82 since evryone is getting bent out of shape about the Borg Warner trans in my Z. P.S I know 83 came available with P90A heads but the previous told me he got the head out of and 83 and put it on my 82, (I checked the head it is a P90a) thats not the point of this post though.
-
well that does not make any sense because mine is a 1982 280zxt with a T5 tranny. So someone is wrong, either 280zxts in 82 came with auto or were available in both auto and manual trans(when I bought I was told it had the original tranny from the factory hence there was no tranny swap into my Z). Note my Z does not have the tranny that was in my 1979 Z rather it has Borg Warner trans I believe. So I definitely have an R200 or does nobody know for sure? If I do what about LSD's anyone know anything about the NISMO one (1way 1.5way or 2way)? Thanks for the feedback though, keep it coming
-
well if it helps I have a 5speed and the trans, B&W (Borg Warner) T5, and supposedly "The 82 280zx turbo 2+2 should have the same drivetrain as the 2-seater turbo. It should have a BW 5-speed and 3.54 R200 rear," according to ZDriver.com if that helps at all. here's the thread I found it on http://zdriver.com/forum/printthread.php?t=9708 is this true?

I have a 1982 280zx Turbo. I was wondering does this have an R200 or R180 diff. I searched the forums and did not find a straight answer I mostly just found Z31 with them. Also If it does have an R200 (which I believe it does) NISMO sells an LSD for the R200 under 280zx (S130) in their catalog, does anyone know if that is a 1way 2way or 1.5 way. I am slowly building a drift machine so a 1.5 or 2way is quite desirable, the open clutch just ain't cutting it, one wheelin is getting old real fast. A clutch type LSD along the lines of NISMO, KAAZ, Cusco, Or Quaife would be good if I'm not mistaken, your input is greatly appreciated. What would be the best setup. Also NISMO offers a huge array of pinion gears, which would be best for drift/autoX, I can post the sizes if necessary unless you guys are already aware of them. Thanks.
