What shop in the states carries this kit? (G-Nose for 280ZX)
Drftn280zxt replied to a topic in Body Kits & Paint
Wow although I like my own personal design betterm that is one of the better looking kits for the 280ZX by far. Looks better than the MSA kit I think (you know the one that replaces the bumper). -
I'll have to keep that in mind in the future. Here's my thing I want a cage that doesn't dominate the space in side the car but still looks good and functions well. I've seen is just about all race cars that the cages are either painted or powdercoated. Is it a combo of the two or just paint? Thanks for the replies I starting to understand this whole rollcage deal.

I originally posted this on the Bodykits/Paint forum but had minimal luck hopefully I'll get more feedback here. I did a search and had minimal luck finding results. Okay #1 Rollcages aren't removeable, are they? They are permanently in the car right? #2 How do you paint a roll cage? My common sense tells me that you'd obviously have the interior stripped to bare metal (stock is okay too) and then you'd mask off the areas around the bars including all the windows, am I correct? This is only relevant if a rollcage is a permanent fixture. If this is true this process must be a pain in the butt. #3 How can a roll cage be powdercoated if it is permanently stuck in the car? This is only relevant if a rollcage is a permanent fixture. Please work with me I a newb to this stuff. I'm trying to learn it all before doing it in the future. I'd rather be clueless now than when I actually try to pull of my dream Z. Thanks

wow that stinks. So I guess a welded in roll cage couldn't be chromed huh? Personally I think that it would look awesome, but so would blue paint. Thanks for the reply.

Tell me what you think, I also did some more drawings of the headlights and taillights I hope you like them. Another exterior rendering with multiple views (front 3/4 top and Front) should be getting posted soon, I just have to finish it.

New rendering of my 280ZX 2+2 design
Drftn280zxt replied to Drftn280zxt's topic in Body Kits & Paint
2126 I appreciate that you think my ideas are nicer than BMW's. My question is what don't you like about new BMW's. IMO the new 325i,525i,new 3series and the new upcoming 5 series look awesome except for the big honken trunk (the 745i is questionable, looks like a sleepy car based on those headlights and is way to long). What about old style intrigued you, just curious? Oh yeah I going to post pics of my interior ideas extremely soon! Like today. -
RacerX you are so lucky. Many teenagers would do almost anything for that car. Your detailing looks good, keep us posted on the progress. Be honest though isn't fun to assemble fast cars that you don't have to pay for. After everything you contribute to that car you should be entitled to a test drive. Although I'd feel in that scenario I too would be obedient with what someone told be since odds are I'd be bound to get something out of the labor, like a test drive . Are the taillights on that S15 partly LED? Spec- R! Whoa up to now all I thought existed was Spec-V like the Sentra and Nismo packages.

New rendering of my 280ZX 2+2 design
Drftn280zxt replied to Drftn280zxt's topic in Body Kits & Paint
RacerX. Actually in that drwaing and in my overall idea. I'm going to keep the stock bulge. No special ventililation for it. I think it looks just fine as is. As for more remderings. You can bet on it, when I'll do em , thats another thing. I usually draw these when I have some time to kill and I don't want to do anything else. Just something I do in my "offtime". 2126, why do you think I should be the head the designer for BMW? Just curious, although BMWs are nice and I clean them every once and a while. But like all cars they have flaws, not many but some. For example, almost every model (sedan) has little to no legrroom in the back seat. Not very functional. My solution. Move the rear axle back without exstending the trunk. Move the back seat back about a foot and make the car a hatchback like the Mazda 6. Increase how far the front wheels can turn. Do you really think I 'm that good? Time is everything and every moves along with time. Darnit. -
New rendering of my 280ZX 2+2 design

Thanks for all the replies guys. Uh to touch on something, ther IS such thing as LED headlights two examples. The AUDI LE MANS Quattro, and the INFINITI Q45 both have LED headlights. I WILL make this real. It may take a while (4-30years), so learning and obviously some experience will be necessary, something about having someone do something for you takes away from its value. The possibibility is their, applying myself is all thats left and some good cashflow. I gotta take care of the money first by getting through college. You guys encourage me so much, you have no idea. Its you comments and my family's support that keeps me designing mind blowing cars and houses. Thats another story though. Keep the replies coming by all means. -
All right check this new rendering out that I did of my concept. There will soon be an interior pic. I will also be in black/white. Why black and white, its easy to shade color is a little trickier. Tell me what you think.

money no object. Cast the L28 in titananium ("bored" out to 89mm). Serious head work on the P90. Upgrade all internals . Twin T3-04 turbos (all upgraded). Intercooled with CO2 injection, custom mandrel bent piping for exhuast and intercooling. Custom intake manifold, fuel rail, aluminum radiator, oil cooler, upgrade the A/C system for R134. Big (650cc-750cc injectors), silver core spark plug wires. All titanium exhuast. All titanium spaceframe chassis. Coilovers all around. All carbon-fiber body panels. Chromoly roll-cage. Big 13" brakes all around with 4-6 piston calipers fed by stainless lines. Custom headlights/taillights. Custom rims cast in aluminum. Custom interior. Awesome carbon-fiber stereo (painted though. The 350Z 6speed tranny with a good clutch. And the end result would look somethin like this. Thats it in a nut shell w/o boring you to death.

Very nice work. I that your intake manifold . Also where is your air flow meter? Don't you need that for the car to run, since its fuel-injected? Can't wait to here the results you get on the track out of it. p.s I dunno about the nitrous, it's look just as sick w/o it.

I just recently did another drawing of my concept, but it is more realistic this time. I'll post a pic when I get a chance. Also I 've got an interior design beginning to meterialize on paper. I need to finish the shading on it first though. Thanks again for sharing all those neat pictures. By all means keep'm coming if you have more. Your fellow (future) Automotive Designer, Sean

its still not working. What the username? Password? I tried V8ZRACER260Z on both and it didn't work. Did I goof? -
Wow that view looks much better. I still don't like those boxy wheel wells but the flares look better. Thanks for posting that pic.

I dunno about "Lambo doors". I'd need a photshop of it. How you'd do it is simple. Have two layers on being the interior from outside the car and then cut the door out of the picture and rotate it 90*. I can't do it though. No photoshop. I'd like to see it though. Wait a sec was there someone on CarDomain with lambo doors? Fuctionality would be very important, I don't want a "simple" show car. Its gotta function.

Drftn280zxt replied to frank280zx's topic in Body Kits & Paint
very nice man. Diddo on the flair, need more pics. The lights look awesome noe that they look like part of the car, gotta love JDM. -
I like that Mc-Laren F1 GT car. Beautiful!. Looks better like that than stock. Man that thing is short. That would be a challenge for me to get into being 6'4"

Well to achieve more downforce, you need the air underneath the car to move faster. Lets look at an airplane wing. The underside is flat and the top is curved. Okay now a little physics stuff. You have air moving "X" miles per hour or whatever before the wing. As it goes around the wide it wants to keep up with itself (eliminating vacuums). In order to fo this the air going over the top of wing must move farther over the same amount of time that the air underneath does at the same time. Thus the air over the top moves faster creating a low pressure area. (FYI, if a meteorologist says a low pressure "zone" is moving into your area, its gonna be windy). Okay now the slower moving area underneath the wing creates high pressure. The high pressure wants to move to the low pressure. Thus creating lift. Okay now on a car it would be upside down. Yes you want the car to be as flat as possible (less drag) but you also wanting to creating the most distance possible. You want the air to move faster underneath the car than on top. Thus creating downforce. Diffusers to my understanding merely just tell the air where to go, the bellypans are what deliver the much needed low pressure. But then again there is another approach. Simply make the bottom of the car as flat as possible and but in diffusers to make the underside air less turbuleant (sp?)(less turbuleant, less drag). Then put wing/spoilers(inverted airplane wing) on top to do your downforce adjustment. That is mathematical terms you are working a one variable equation versus two. If you can simply do fine aero adjustments on top only, things can be much easier. At least that how GT cars and other race cars do it. To my understanding most "Rice" wings are designed incorrectly with the exception of the carbon fiber GT wings with the rised portion in the middle. The top surface should be flat with minimal angle (drag causing) and have a longer area underneath to create low pressure.

I guess you have a point. If I like who's cares. I guess I just like feedback and input in accordance to my ideas.

uh, that bodykit IMO is questionable. The front flair is interesting( but it destroys the original bodyline) . The back flare, well if the wheel well wasn't boxed, and if the upper line of the rear quarter didn't "bleed" into the door it would be considerable. The camel race car IMO looked better but that could be because it had a much lower stance. I think what that Kaminari ZX really needs is a sideskirt. Got any more pics of it (the Kaminari car) RacerX? I really appreaciate the fact that you are digging these up to share with me, thanks! They are very inspirational to me and hopefully other readers.

I say do it. The color combo black/ green always looked good to me. Forget NASCAR, they are thrilled about going in an oval, (makes'em dizzy). Now rally, theres a sport. Anywho, I say do, it should look awesome, also a black hood in your scenario might look good possible with green racing racing stripes. My $.02 .
