i think it looks cool. my car is going to be done soon.. all gunmetal inside and out. no interior at all hehe except for seats. can't wait.
-
i got my genuine S2000 button for about $35 from http://www.handa-accessories.com i am hoping to do the button with a kill switch as well.
-
yeah i need to get a heat shield for it.. i was told by several people to avoid wrapping the headers because it will rust the headers eventually right? how do i just lay a blanket w/o it coming loose? what other options are there for heat management? i havent had the time to put them on yet, will most likely do it when the car is complete and painted (few more weeks arghh)..

that looks SWEET! leave the velocity stacks bare and clean up the rest of the engine bay to match! GREAT JOB!

i'll definately be posting pics, but unfortunately i cant find the recharger to my digital cam so i'm missing out on some of the steps. i wish i could get all the cool shots from when they do the floor. they've already cut out a lot of rusted areas in the "dog legs" (under the door and near the rear tire well) and welded in new patches. also, since i removed the rear bumper, they filled those holes with sheet metal as well and then bondo'd over it. they also frenched the mirrors, but i'll be installing some chrome bullet mirrors after they paint. i've gutted the entire interior and they will be painting the interior as well. i want to leave it bare.. it would give it a nice vintage race car look imo. i think a viper gas cap would compliment it very well, too bad they cost so much though. anyway, should be done soon! thanks olie, i'll be giving you a call! you free this saturday?

thanks for the tips, i'm actually glad that i dont have to worry about getting it wrapped or what not. the linkages come with the carbs but just weren't pictured in the photographs. i can't wait to put them on, hopefully they'll come in soon!

i just ordered a header and weber triples with marking (Tipo 40DC0e18 No 9J ) to replace my worn round top SU's. can someone walk me through the installation process? i don't have a heat shield, should i wrap the headers? also, there is a big hole (refer to pics please) in the header, can someone tell me its function? i'm a noob to carbs, so i apologize. thanks, jason pics here: http://www.hpphoto.com/servlet/com.hp.HPGuestLogin?username=jkoh1&password=29945336

ouch.. $300 each? how about this kit from ebay? does this look like the "Precision" kit everybody refers to? My car is almost out of the shop, (it looks AWESOME with the new sheetmetal welded in) and I need to get the weatherstripping soon.. thanks! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7949078773&category=33685

if thats the case, would you be able to do the same for thich door seals and adjust the doors so that its not as tight of a seal? that way you wont have to slam so much... ?
-
would you happen to have the part #'s from JCW or precision? I saw some kits on ebay for $185 which seems to be a helluva lot cheaper than MSA. From the 3 different people on ebay that sold them, all used the same picture. Which company made those kits? Anyone know? I want to buy the entire kit and get whichever door seals work the best. Thanks

Smoothline Fiberglass Pricing and Possible Group Buy ?
JaysZ replied to Jason Jarvis's topic in Body Kits & Paint
$250 for a fiberglass hood is a great deal. hmm.. i really need a new passenger fender and light bucket.. but to me, it would be weird just having one side fiberglass and one side metal and i can't afford all of it -
forgot to mention the old rubber mirrors have been taken off and i have chrome bullet mirrors to replace them....

i'm not sure how to post pictures in the thread but i added a link at the bottom to my album. i would like to be able to spend the time doing the body work myself to reduce costs but it is urgent that i get the money asap. i really hate to do this since i really love this car. i forgot to add there is an MSA bumper and carbon fiber steering wheel. Anyway, its all in the pictures. Thanks for your input http://www.hpphoto.com/servlet/com.hp.HPGuestLogin?username=jkoh1&password=88782176

Unfortunately i need to sell my Z for financial reasons. i would like to ask your honest opinion, what do you think my car would be worth with a new paint job and/or new steel floors and rails. would it be better NOT to invest and sell as is? i'd be putting this on my credit card (with hope that I could make it back and more to help me pay off some crazy debts) 1978 Datsun 280z 5spd transmission, freshly installed a couple months ago Arizona Z Car 10lb flywheel Front sway bar, 1 1/8" Lowering springs (probably MSA or Tokico) 14x7 American Racing rims E88 head SU Carbs, round top 8mm silicon spark plug wires Denso spark plugs 6 into 1 headers Dynomax Flowmaster muffler, custom 2.5" mandrel bent pipes extra valve cover extra transmission The engine runs STRONG and transmission is smooth but carbs need to be rebuilt or replaced. With the flywheel, it revs like nothing I've driven before! Car is in shop right now getting floors done. Should I pay for a paint job? Would it raise the value? The interior is gutted and i'm building a custom fiberglass console and armrest. I'm debating whether or not I should put in a Sparco race bucket as well. Thanks for the input, I REALLY NEED THE MONEY since I lost my job.

ok, thats retarded. watching the video, you have to open it out LIKE A REGULAR DOOR, then up. haaha. whats the point?

yup, the 81+ has better gearing for gas mileage. i have one out of an N/A 81 ZX you can have for free including stock clutch if you can come get it (or anyone else interested). i live in houston,tx 77025. oh.. the 2nd gear doesnt work very well.. bad syncro i guess.

ditto, factory five makes some of the best, if not the best, kit cars on the market. that type 65 coupe would make an awesome project. *sigh* if only...

engine lag.. getting too much fuel and flooding?
JaysZ replied to JaysZ's topic in Trouble Shooting / General Engine
yup thats the stuff. it works really well and its only $6 at O'reilly. lots of people run it through their pcv valve to clean out the carbon deposits in the engine. anyway, the car is a 1978 280z but has an E88 head and SU carbs. the car ran fine originally, before the tranny went out (the day i bought it). after putting the new tranny in, i put sea foam in the tank. i guess the sea foam cleaned out the jets or whatever and caused the carbs to dump too much fuel in. the car has a 10lb flywheel and it revved like it weighed 50. the plugs got fouled up after running for about 1 or 2 mins at low rpm's. anyway, now it seems to be running better with some carb tuning but it still runs like ass. i need to get that Z Therapy video and rebuild them or get new ones.. i think the carbs are the source of most of my problems at this point... -
that looks awesome! i have a gas cap from a mini cooper S, i've been trying to think up ideas of how to put that on

Racer X and other paint guys.. NO 56K! alot of pics!!!!
JaysZ replied to a topic in Body Kits & Paint
if you want a nice white.. how about that Integra Type R Championship White... it has a nice flat yet.. bright look to it. if you want it to look "auto-modellista-ish" i would suggest that color.. -
i think it would look cool but if you go to the websites like http://www.decah.net and see the videos of them in action, it looks really f*cking cheesy. the door opens up all wobbly and the guys have to hold the door up. its not a smooth up and down action but rather an upswing that wobbles left and right as you do so. i'd do it if they were able to figure out a better method. looks like more trouble than its worth.

did someone have plans for floor rails & subframe connec
JaysZ replied to JaysZ's topic in Body Kits & Paint
the ones at zedfindings look awesome, that would definately be an alternative to me but since i'm getting such a good deal... and its in town, i can't NOT do it -
yeah i am paranoid too actually, my car has different locks to the doors and i actually dont have those keys so either i dont lock them at all or i climb in through the hatch but i'm not worried since i have a PO BOX he can send it to. was it a Nissan specialist or was it any regular locksmith? I got a key cut at Lowe's the other day and it worked perfectly.. it was like $3. I just wish I had another Nissan blank but they go for crazy amounts on ebay!

saw this guy on ebay who is cutting datsun keys with our code: About $11 each though!
