  1. He may not have the money to buy anything. He's a big, big spender and recent reports say his debts out weigh his assets. But don't stop with MJ. Prosecute the parents that left their children alone with that freak.
  2. Funny you mention Triumph. Before I bought the Z I wanted to do a Triumph GT6 V8 swap. I started searching the web for other guys that had done it. The best I could find was a couple guys that had been working on them for years and still didn't run and one guy who had spent $50k on a V8 Spitfire. Very discouraging to say the least. But then I found this place!
  3. Thanks for keeping us up to date Guy. Looks like a fun project. Maybe I missed it, are you going to have them ceramic coated when you get done? The pics are great too. I had a thought. Why not switch the red and pick pipes? Seems like it would be easier to route them that way. I'm not looking at it in 3D so maybe I'm not seeing something. It shouldn't make any differance to the motor. It's a simple 4 to 1 collector and not tri Y's so I don't see where it would matter where they go into the collector. Maybe you're tring to balance the pipe length. I'll have to take another look at it.
  4. Wow Francesco, great site! Thanks, I bookmarked that one. Welcome to Hybrid. Dan
  5. Oh I'd love to guys. All I need is another two car garage, a forty gallon Hefty bag full cash (large denominations please), and all that spare time I'm currently wasting on employment. The wife is all for it though. She say's I can have all the project cars I want as long as they're sequential. Well that and the other above mentioned requirements. A guy can dream can't he?
  6. Driving to work on Thursday I was passed by a beautiful little blue Lancia (let's all pronounce it correctly: "Lawn-cha") Scorpion. Really sent me back. These cars were sold here in the US for only two years, '76 & '77. They are deceptively small, about the size of a Fiat X19, (I had one of those for a short, hateful, hateful time ). The Scorpion, known as the Monte Carlo in Europe, is a beautiful mid-engine, targa desiqn the way only Italians can do it. Some of the cool features it had was a side hinged engine cover and headlights that angled aggressively down ward when off and then "looked up" when turned on. Unfortunately, also like the Italians do it, it had an anemic, underpowered, undersized, finicky little motor set transversely behind the cab. I've always wanted to have one. Watching that sexy little Italian zip by on I5 north of Stockton at 7:00am I got to thinking. Would a Northstar fit in there? The purists are planning my demise as we speek. It's one thing to cut up one of thousands of mass produced Japanese cars, but a rare Italian sports car? But it would be so cool! What do you guys think?
  7. I highly recommend getting everything as a package rather than in pieces. Hit the junk yards and try to find one that's intact that you can hear run and shift through the gears before they pull the motor. See if they will do a swappers special, everything you might need off the car for the swap for one price. That way if you forget something you can go back and get it without getting dinged ($) over and over. '93-'95 are OBDI, prefered ECU. '96 and up are OBDII. '93-'94 unvented optispark. '95 and up vacuum vented optispark. This is what makes '95 the most desireable model year.
  8. You don't remove your rear quarters. That would seriously weaken the car. The fiberglass bonds over them. The SubtleZ rear fenders cover from the door seam to the rear corner and from the top of the fender at the crease line just below the window all the way to the bottom. So all of your damaged section would be covered. The wheelhouses get cut open and folded back and reattached to the outer fender to make room for larger tires. There is no need to reinforce the fiberglass. It is plenty strong enough. Since it is bonded over your steel fenders it doesn't carry a stuctural load. Well, yes, technically it does. But it is such a small fraction as to make it insignificant. John's fiberglass is beautiful and made to a high quality but it is not a cheap substitute for bodywork. You'll pay $600 plus shipping for a set of rear SubtleZ fenders plus the bodywork to install them plus paint. Then you will want wider wheels and tires back there to make it look right. I'm almost certain you can get that damage professionally repaired for less.
  9. Cripes! It wasn't that big on your web site!
  10. John, nice to see you're finaly "coming out"!
  11. Because you asked, yes. The SubtleZ fenders will cover all of that damage. You will still need to filet the wheelhouses to take advantage of the wider fenders.
  12. Hey Alex, does this make you an official member of "Jackstand Racing"?
  13. SORRY!!!!! I hadn't had my coffee yet.
  14. Don't mean to be cruel, but it sounds like you will have the only Z like it in your area.
  15. I'm running the YZ's on the rear only. 15x10 old school (no wagon wheels for me) with 4 1/2" backspacing and 10" coilovers.
  16. I take it all back. Just remember though, anyone can take it apart. It's getting it back together that takes heart.
  17. There is a Ford tech on this board that has nothing but bad to say about that motor. Do a search and see what you come up with.
  18. Wipers schmipers. Those things are there just to satisfy some minimum import regulation from 1969. These cars were never designed to be driven in the rain. Isn't that obvious by the lack of rust protection applied to the car? Don't believe me? Look at any MG or Triumph from the early '70's. They had wipers too!
  19. There's your mea culpa. Send them back with printouts of all the e-mails and the original posting. I'm sure this guy doesn't want to explain to a cop about his sons false advertizing and mail fraud. Ask for reinbursement for shipping as well. Give the father a chance to make it right before you call the cops. If you don't get any satisfaction in a couple of weeks turn it over to the authorities.
  20. My L6 and 4 speed sold on ebay for $130. I never heard it run, although your description sounds worse than mine was. The scrap yard won't give you enough to pay the gas for the trip there and back. Post it on ebay, it's worth a shot.
  21. The JTR book does not cover the LT1. The Helm manual is much more than just wiring diagrams. It is extremely usefull and well worth $100. If you have any problems it has detailed charts and instructions for diagnosing and correcting them. I wouldn't do an EFI swap without it.
  22. Sounds like you've found your donor. With only 60k on it why do a rebuild? That motor should go 200k (300+ kilometers?) with no problems. Helm writes the manuals for GM. You order by phone with a credit card. Their # is 800-782-4356. Expect it to be about $100 USD. The MAF is not that big of a deal. Just another item to fab, the plumbing that is. But if you're buying that '91 you won't have to worry about it. When I did the LT1 I bought a mandrel bent 180*x 3"(or 3 1/2"?) exhaust pipe and a foot of some big reinforced rubber hose, a few hose clamps and powdercoated the cut pipe pieces inside and out (you don't want to use unprotected steel pipe after the air filter, rust hurts). All in all it was about $100 to plumb the intake properly. You could still do this to a speed density motor to get a cold air intake. I'm just cheap and lazy, my motor came with the K&N already attached. That motor came stock with 245@4400hp & 345@3200trq, yea baby. Make it breath a little easier with a set of headers and a less resrictive exhaust and you should easily be over 250/350.
