  1. Thanks Rick but I went ahead and ordered a puller yesterday. Zthang43 has them available again. Everything else is apart and the two spindle pins are all that I have left to remove.
  2. I remember that thread Mat it should be designated as a HybridZ classic. I actually thought about you as I was beating the crap out of my spring perch and told a friend your story. He just looked at me like
  3. I've got some better pics that I can post tomorrow when I get to work so I'll see if I have anything showing the rear of the car and post them.
  4. I had dropped the suspension out of my Z quite a while ago when I put it on the rotisserie but I had never disassembled it. I've read lots of posts about how difficult it can be but damn it took me two days to get it apart. I had the gland nut from Hell on one of the front struts but after lots of Kroil and heat I was victorious. I'm sure glad I'm going to coilovers because I destroyed a couple of the spring perches beating on them to get the strut cartridges out. I put the rod of the strut cartridge in the vice and then used the spring perch as a sacraficial spot to beat on. I can't imagine doing this without air tools either. O.K I'm done ranting, it just feels good to have it apart.
  5. I should have clarified that in the top pic the frame rails that run under the floors have been removed in preparation for a set of sub frame connectors. If you look in the bottom pic they are still there and they do run beyond the firewall and connect to the engine bay frame rails. The reason people do sub frame connectors is because the ones under the floors stop short of the rear frame section. In the bottom pic you can see where they stop.
  6. That's funny I've been disassembling my struts today getting ready for coilovers. Mine is an early 260 so it should be the same as a 240. The front measures 14.5" and the rear measures 16.5". This is from the top of the strut tube to hub centerline. Hope this helps.
  7. Here is a couple of pics of the underside of my 260Z while it was on the rotisserie. I do have more but they are on my machine at work.
  8. Doesn't look like he has posted since June 14th when he claimed to be moving to Japan. Another lie I'm sure so if he or others do post I'm in there with you Stony.
  9. I guess that is the problem with the internet you never really know who you are talking to.
  10. The structural courses that I have taken are related to building construction but I would think the same theories apply. If we consider the inner fender as a structural panel then typically towards the center of that panel the forces are the least. The location you are talking about is towards the center of the panel so you should be able to punch a hole with no effect. I can't visualize what you are talking about on the core support but remember V8ZRacer260Z's trick core support on his car. He removed everything but the bottom cross member and built a tubular top cross member that was bolted in. I have that top cross member if you would like to copy it and I have pics of his engine bay.
  11. Removal of every square inch of undercoating from my 260Z. Time consuming & messy.
  12. Het Juan how is the order coming along? Just curious when they might ship. Any pics yet?
  13. Maybe he got a quantity discount on the spoilers.
  14. That is V8ZRacer260Z's project. I haven't seen him post in a while but I know he changed jobs a few months back and may be busy. This is the last update I think he posted http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=146611&highlight=#146611
  15. If the weather holds out are you heading to the track tonight? Oh and BTW my friend that joke is awful
  16. I'm not familiar with 2010 but a painter friend of mine swears by the 2020 and for that I know you can use the DT reducer. You can't use laquer thinner as the clear is not a laquer type product. I believe base coat clear coat products are urethane.
  17. I remeber in the early 80's I was building 1949 International Harvester truck from the ground up. The frame was back on it's suspension at this point and I had the running boards just sitting on their mounts. The exhaust manifold was sitting on one of the running boards and I went to step on the running board to climb inside the frame. I messed up and didn't step on top of the mount like I usually did causing the running board to flip up and the exhaust manifold to slide off and land square on my big toe. Did I mention that I was bare footed? I've got a great story about droping my 400 Pontiac motor off of my cheapy three wheel engine stand too. So yeah been there and done that and still continue to do stupid things.
  18. I know the LT1 in my Trans Am is a bitch to get the air pockets out of so I would bet the LS1 is just as bad. The LT1 has bleeders in a couple of spots so you might check and see if yours does for future reference.
  19. A 245 width tire will fit under your car with coilovers. You might consider going to a 45 series as a 245/50-16 will be almost an inch taller than your current 225/50-16. I think Pete Paraska managed to get a 255 width under his car.
  20. You need to open them in some kind of photo editing software and reduce their size and / or resolution. Then do a "save as" of course and rename it as the small version. People on dial up will thank you.

    Rotisserie

Here is a pic of mine on the rotisserie I got a bit carried away and built a fully adjustable unit. The two engine stand method is the easiest way and I have seen people who did not connect the two stands together. Mine was on casters and never felt unstable when rotating it so I'm sure you will be fine.
  22. Look at the top of this page and you will see a hyperlink to "Album". Once you are there click on "Your Personal Gallery" and you will be able to upload your pics there. You can then post a pic in the forum by linking it to your gallery.
  23. Mike: I'm going to get the suspension back under it this weekend and then it's off to a shop to have the subframes installed, front frame rails replaced and a portion of the inner fenders sectioned. I knew this car had been in a collision but once I stripped it I found how badly the reapir had been botched. They had bondoed the damn frame rails. The rails are wavy as hell and I don't feel comfortable trying this much structural work on my own. If I don't pay someone to do this work I'm never going to get done. I have a full spare suspension so I can start cleaning up everything and get my coilovers installed while the car is in the shop. SPIIRIT: There is actually a fourth jack stand & scale under there it's really weird that you can't see it. Yes the cashier gave me an odd look as she rang up four scales.
  24. I can't take credit for the bathroom scale idea that was BlueOvalZ's idea. Oh damn I've been busted Target had those for $5.09 each and they weighed me the same as my existing scale so hopefully they're somewhat acurate.
  25. Here is a pic of the Z sitting on the bathroom scales.
