Austin, how is your pump working mounted high like that ? I have always heard you want to try to mount them low enough to let the tank gravity feed the pump, since they are designed to push, not pull. Jason

I picked up a couple of "Help" packs the other day in Pep Boys, it has all sizes included, even the flat original L28 style one. Don't remember how much, but only a few bucks. Jason

Crank Pully / Damper / Harmonic Balancer Question
Jason Jarvis replied to trwebb26's topic in Nissan L6 Forum
I like the dampner, I like the serpentine conversion, but geez, what is that, a timing belt ? On that water pump pulley, isn't the water pump turning at paddle boat speeds now ? It looks slick, and I'm interested in the possibilities, just a few questions... Jason -

Dan, I know you are new to the Z31 world, don't know about you Preacher, but are you guys aware of the Z31 dual gauge ? There are two scales, the first scale reads down to around 1/4 tank, then the second needle takes over and shows the last 1/4 of a tank over the full gauge range. There is usually a period when the main needle has vanished, but the secondary hasn't shown up yet. You are a real Z31 person when you stop being scared of the secondary gauge ! It's been a while now since I blew mine up, (you guys have changed your timing belts haven't you?), but I think the main needle is white, the secondary is orange. Jason -
I have one of the 14mm, o-rings, nice looking part, only test fit so far, but looks good. Which reminds me, I think I owe you some feedback.... Jason

I have been thinking about trying one of the Moroso U-Weld-It kits, around $140 from Summit. Doesn't solve the turbo oil return, but it shouldn't be a problem to take care of that while you are fabbing... http://www.moroso.com/catalog/categorydisplay.asp?CatCode=11108

Well, from those pictures, it's pretty obvious that at least his bellhousing did NOT bolt up without modifications. I had done some research several years ago and THOUGHT that the case bolt pattern on the T5 used in the 280ZX turbo and that of the T56 was very close, like all lined up except for one added to the T56. I never actually tried it though, the trannys were still like $2500 used at the time and I couldn't afford it. Jason

I think that the T5 and T56 use the same case bolt pattern, so a Nissan T5 housing would bolt up to a T56. I never got much beyond that though, so I don't know about input shaft size, length and splines. I agree though, if you are worried about paying for the custom driveshaft, you probably don't want to get involved with the possibilites of input shaft or crank modification and custom clutches. Would be quite cool though.... Jason

Does this mean that the most original Z31 I have ever seen is about to get molested ? Jason

The car in the pic has the OS Giken twin cam head for the L series..... Jason

Yeah, yours are fairly different once you see them close up. From what I could see in your previous pics, I was pretty sure it was the ones I had found out about a couple of weeks ago. I figured you had gotten your hands on a preproduction unit or early import of what this company is selling. BTW, if I read correctly, the ones from the company I posted (XSighting Lighting) are not the cheap halogen with a tinted bulb deal, they are an actual HID, using the same line of (yours are S, they show R, different temp?)HID capsules as yours.... "HID bulbs are designed to last up to ten times longer than standard halogen bulbs, typically up to 3,000 hours. But should you ever need a replacement, you can purchase one from authorized auto parts dealers. We recommend that you replace the bulb with an Osram D1R HID Capsule." BTW2, I learned about this company in the current issue of Super Rod magazine, "55 Hot New Products" or something like that.... Either way, cool concept and again, beautiful car....... Jason Oh, close up picture of the XSighting Lighting and ballast... http://www.xesighting.com/products_detail.asp?nav=1&cat=1&prod=80

Eric, on the pics, no that is the first time I have seen those, I knew I had not seen them before, and back when we talked about this kit, I think I remember you saying you were trying to get better pictures. All I have / have seen are from the original 90's promotion. Interesting thing on the new "Showcase", I looked at a few other sections, and they work fine, but the convertibles section still doesn't load any pics after the first for me. I did update Flash, they still are on 7 for Linux, but there was a recent update. I restarted Firefox after the update, but it's not impossible I have the page cached with a problem. I'll let you know. As far as flavors of Linux, I went with Suse because when I built my last box Red Hat was in the middle of the switch over to Fedora and I did not like the hassles I got into with it in it's infancy. Suse has lived up to its reputation with me, cranky to get installed and running, but once you do, flawless.

Hey Eric, I like the new gallery ! Only problem I see is that it has a couple of hitches running in Firefox on Suse, I can only view one image at a time, clicking on another image from the "filmstrip" does nothing for me after that., I have to load the menu again. I'll check and see if there is a Flash update... Nice pics of the Hollywood kit, did you finally get to take pictures yourself ?

I'm interested in this as well, assuming the price is in my affordable range... Thanks, Jason

turbo questions (I know you're all excited)
Jason Jarvis replied to zeiss150's topic in Nissan L6 Forum
I would be interested, but I think the 12cm wheel is a little big for what I am planing, I don't quite have the lofty goals some on here do, and I am looking or reasonable driveability. Anyone who has done it have input ? Jason -
turbo questions (I know you're all excited)
Jason Jarvis replied to zeiss150's topic in Nissan L6 Forum
I replied to your PM, but if anyone else is wondering, no, no luck. We don't stock them, and it seems for us there is no such thing as a new replacement part. All the Cummins replacements are remanufactured, which in itself is not a problem, but they require a core charge. My buddy in parts tells me that I need an engine serial number to even look one up to get it drop shipped. He was going to talk to a friend at a dealer to see if there was a hook up, but no word yet.... -
I might be interested in the '78 run as well. I really want to see what John has vs. what you guys are making and go with what I like the style of better. Any pics of the 510 ones painted or covered anywhere ? Jason
