Just to clarify here, your info is technically correct, just one thing, the Z's injectors are batch fire, they all fire at once (in an single batch of 6), some aftermarket efi systems do allow you to break the batch down, 2 batches of 3 for example as you describe, but both methods are batch fire. The next step is sequential injection, or individual injectors firing timed with the cylinder. Many (most ?) factory injection systems have gone this way, but the arguments you make above (atomization / fuel condensation times not being critical) seem to be holding up there as well, so on average sequential injection doesn't seem to be worth the extra effort for performance unless you are after the 10th tenth of performance. For OEM's it is more of an emissions issue.

Those are John Washington's 280YZ rear quarters, great stuff, I have a set waiting to go on. Many people on here will recommend dealing with him. http://www.ztrix.com or http://www.reactionresearch.com

Gotta watch out for the junkies man, they'll do anything to support a habit....

Need engine bays pics with Herculiner, Rhinoliner, etc....
Jason Jarvis replied to 80LS1T's topic in Body Kits & Paint
I'm on the body color side of this one, also, don't forget that bedliner is generally heavy ! Jason -
Yeah, that was the only connection I could make, thought maybe there was a more interesting inside joke or something, I thought that one was stretching it.... Jason

Wow, now I'm going to have to find the previous issue ! I still don't understand the chili reference though !
-
Yeah, it was a different angle I'm sure, I could plainly see your wheels and the top of the gas cap.... Jason
-
Yep, but a different angle, or maybe they just rotated it, shadows aren't the same though,... I'm going on memory, I didn't get it since I had 3 other mags and a fiberglass book and there wasn't much else in it that grabbed my attention. I'll probably go back and get it anyway though. The caption is something about "finding a bowl of chili in this town". Jason

Are you in love with all the power adjustments / massage chair / whatever that are ran by those motors ? If not, I bet that slide / rake etc. section will unbolt from the actual seat, leaving the option of fabbing rails or adapters to your Z rails, gaining you a few inches.

... sorry if this has been discussed and I missed it, but can you explain the back page of Kit Car Builder to me ? Sounds like an inside joke. Very nice picture though, is it real ? Kinda looks photoshopped.... And I've said it before, and I'm sure I'll say it again, sweeeet car ! Jason

Well, I learned something today ! I have lived in North Carolina all my life, most of it 50 miles from Winston-Salem, and have known people who worked for Spevco, I also have been into Z's for at least the last 17 years, and I did not know any of this !!!!! DrSideways, I should probably know you, or at least of you....

I'm in the camp that the concept drawing had potential, with th stock Z rear quarter arch and the open glass (or even solid metal, Z Sedan Delivery ?) But the execition of just grafting on the Volvo piece, not attractive to me, confilicting lines...... Engineering and being something different, yes, cool points there....

Building a 20 Gallon Aluminum fuel tank. any advice?
Jason Jarvis replied to JoeinCA's topic in Fuel Delivery
The Summit tank I have sitting here is ~10 inches, so you should be able to use a standard (aftermarket fuel cell) sender if you do that. I'm changing gauges, so mine is a GM sending unit. I remember seeing somewhere that one of the domestic styles was close enough that you could wire a resistor in and make the Datsun gauge work and be pretty colse to accurate. I'm pretty sure the GM guage range is very different, so it must be a Ford or VDO style. -
~7/16 or 1cm point to point across the face of the diamond, short side.

I think while the Titan uses a solid rear axle (to make it more of a big 'merican truck) the Armada is IRS.

Go to Z 31.com and check out the message board, look for topics from yesterday and today, "Pictures from today" by Ken in AZ and "Some Z32 Suspension info" by TempestasZ. There are even pics. The front pins don't line up BTW, ken drilled through the metal bump stop in the front, and I'm tryiin to find out what they did in the rear.

Arizona Z Car Camel GT front end - why not?
Jason Jarvis replied to rustrocket's topic in Body Kits & Paint
...it has historically been extremely difficult to purchase fiberglass from AZ Z car. They have at various times had policies such as $1000 minimum order, pick up only, or been totally out of the fiberglass business. Also, and I don't mean this as a personal insult, as I have heard plenty of people say he is a good guy, but when discussing parts and such on the phone, he doesn't give the impression he cares whether he sells anything or not. Now this is all my personal experience, backed up by the general opinion of the Z car community at large. I should however point out that I have not talked to him or tiried to purchase anything in years. As long as you can get some lights in there, it should be fine for the road, I love the look head on, but the nose is too long from the side, in my opinion. -
I hear that the Z31 can be made to handle pretty well keeping the mostly stock design. It is a generally less desirable setup than the S30's or Z32's, but it's main problem is how softly it is tuned from the factory. After 18 or so years of abuse, my 86 handled like an 80's Buick when I got it, almost scary. Right now I have Tokico HP's and urethane on the stock sway bars for a tremendous improvementt, it still likes to rotate though, especially in the rain. The rear suspension on the Z31 and Z32 is completely different. The only hope to fit the later parts is to bolt in the complete rear subframe from a Z32 or S13/14 240SX. I don't know how "bolt in" it is, I do have the parts here from both, and plan to do some measuring. The front mounts of both style subframes are similar, a pin dropping out of the floorpan, the rear of the Z31 mounts with the diff mount, while the Z32/S13/14 is another set of these pins. So, even if the front set of pins are the same style and spacing, another set has to be welded in at the rear somehow, and it looks to me that it would be very close to the gas tank, if you intend to keep it. I also don't know if either factory driveshaft would work, or if you would need to mod one. The person on Z31 that has done this is "Ken in AZ", but I haven't talked to him any about it. Oh, if the Z32 track is a bit too wide, then the S13 should be about right. Also, depending on where and what class you plan to race in, this little mod would probably get you placed in an unlimited class where you most likely could never be competitive. Jason

I feel like "one of the guys" again....finally!
Jason Jarvis replied to blueovalz's topic in Body Kits & Paint
To be perfectly honest, I wasn't sure I liked the car while it was in primer. I mean, you obviously were doing great work, I just wasn't sure that I cared for the overall package. I think I even remember you saying yourself there might be too little "Z" left. But in paint, oh my God that thing is sweet, can't wait to see more pics. Congrats on coming to the end of a long haul, I take inspiration ! Jason -
Roll hoops for Velo Rossa which style do you like?
Jason Jarvis replied to maichor's topic in Body Kits & Paint
Just looking at the hoops, I like the ones on the Z3 better, but I think the point about the classic 180 style on the VR is a good one. I think classic 180s, but in chrome. Jason -
another 300Z tail light treatment on a first gen
Jason Jarvis replied to Tim240z's topic in Body Kits & Paint
I'm not going to say I've never wondered what it would look like, but I was thinking more to the outside upper corners..... I'm not a fan of this one... Jason -
Tube frame, 240SX rear subframe and suspension, full fiberglass body except for the doors (modified one piece front end, 280YZ rear quarters, Hollywood Motorsports rear deck cap, MSA Aero bumpers) My engine is the least modified part, just a high compression L28. Of course all of this sounds really great, but right at the moment it is a big pile of parts and rusty metal.... Jason

I'm doing it, but mine has turned into more of a kit car than a Z conversion ! I have been thinking about putting together an S30 convertible site for a while. If anyone has information or pictures you would like me to host, let me know. Jason
