  1. Yeah, the "Competition Hood Vent Kit" or something like that, was actually a vapor-lock band-aid, but it was similar. As someone pointed out though, a stock hood has too gradual of a curve. The part we are talking about sits on top of the power buldge, so that the top of the stock buldge is the bottom of the vent opening.
  2. 78 huh, try this, leave the switch on and unplug the oil pressure sending unit and listen for the pump to come on. If it does, hop in the car and try to start it. If that works, replace the sending unit. Good luck, Jason
  3. I said IF it WAS e-bay I wouldn't trust it, due to the lack of Nissan numbers and packaging. I bought it from Performance Nissan (mynismo.com) for I think $132, it was the best price I found out there. Sounds just like what everyone else has, it is a 2mm, BTW. I'll have to remember the copper spray.... Jason
  4. I received mine today, and it looks fine, but if it was from e-bay and not from a reputable Nissan dealer, I wouldn't quite trust it. It came wrapped in nothing but a cardboard tray and plastic wrap for support (which did a fine job, BTW) but there is no Nissan part number sticker or any identifying mark on the package. The gasket itself is actually a multi-layer affair, and the layers are relativly loose, that is, away from the rivets they pull apart. Anyway, the thing looks perfect, just not quite what I expected, sound right to you guys ? Jason
  5. Interestingly enough, I'm finding that most of the modern power window kits for street rods and such actually weigh less than the stock crank / regulator assembly ! I don't have hard numbers, but by feel it is a lot less.
  6. Not sure that anyone cares, but I thought I would share. The company I work for manufactures heavy equipment. I was on a trip this week to do some network updates and was at our plants replacing switches. I don't know why I never thought of this before, but there on the floor were at least 50 different CAT and Cummins engines with all different sizes of Holset turbos. I know I saw HX35W's, HX35's and HX30's, there are probably others. I'm going to do a little research and see if we sell these through service parts, and if so what an employee price would be. Anybody ever bought these new. and if so at what kind of prices ? Jason
  7. Post those pics Dan, God knows John doesn't have enough of my money yet ! Working on that project you guys told me about ? Jason
  8. Not to hijack, but Bastaad, does the MSD fuel pump flow enough for your L28T ? I'm looking at fuel pumps, and the MSD looks good, especially price wise, but there are so many out there flowing huge numbers. I would think the MSD would be fine, but then you see Civics running Aeromotives and you wonder.... Thanks !
  9. That does look a lot like the same stuff as in PC kits, I'm thinking it is probably anti-abrasion braided loom. Not sure of a more common name. My company manufactures heavy equipment and we use it on all our wire harnesses. In fact we use a yellow and black version that is pretty slick. Ours is braided in place over the harness, but I have seem pretty much the same stuff for sale in lengths. I have already inquired about getting my harness done, but I'm too far from finished with it.... Go to http://www.waytekwire.com and search for braid.... Jason
  10. Dan, I think you have more than a little talent at this stuff ! FWIW, I talked to John a few months ago about doing something very similar to what you did, and I'm still trying to decide on going for it myself or waiting to see if you guys get your little project done. Either way, John said he couldn't actually sell just the ends for less than the whole part, but by buying just the ends, or by splitting the part, I could save a lot on crating and shipping. For those who haven't done business with him, Johns crating in a case of you get what you pay for, and his is the best, so splitting the part and shipping it UPS would save probably $75 in shipping cost.
  11. Where are you guys sourcing the metal gaskets and price ? Any real differences between the HKS and Nismo ? Thanks
  12. All Wiseco for L Series are "custom", so it shouldn't make a difference there. I just went through this one with them.... Oh, if it matters, I agree with what everyone else is saying about the sleeve, especially if you have any work in the block already, it's commonplace and no big thing.
  13. It's the Z432 grill. I bought mine for about $150 maybe a year ago. They are getting harder to find though. BTW, they only fit early 240's without serious modification, a 280 would require switching to a 240 bumper and valance or cutting up the grill. Jason
  14. Everything else there is scanned from a Motorsports Auto catalog, the upper left blue car is actually the cover, but I don't remember seeing the other blue one you are asking about. I still have it somewhere I think, I can look. It is a nice looking kit from what I can see. Jason
  15. I'm hoping someone who has been through this can help me out with a contact and/or specs. A month or so ago, I talked to people at both Summit and Wiseco about pistons for my turbo project, and had the same answer at both, not a stocking part, but we do them all the time, call us with the diameter and desired compression ratio, and we will get them done. Of course I lost my notes with contact info, I can't find anyone at Summit who knows anything but American V8's now, and all Wiseco can tell me is to complete a custom piston spec sheet. I have done the logical thing and talked to the machine shop and they are supposed to send me the info, but as difficult as this is proving to find I would like to be able to double check from a few different resources. I can find specs for NA pistons online, but have now found that some of the online stores are listing NA pistons for turbos. And as far as the machine shop measuring one, or sending in a sample, I don't have any turbo pistons, just NA's. Also, I found a post where someone on here posted a Summit / Wiseco number for these pistons, upon talking to Wiseco, this number is actually for RB25DET pistons, is there a trick there ? Specs - L28 N42 Block P90 / P90A Head 1mm over, 87mm Desired comp ratio ~8.5:1 I have heard / read in the past that the turbo piston is basically the same as the NA, as far as pin height and diameter and piston length, but that the ring lands are different, again, looking for the voice of experience here. Thanks, Jason
  16. Interesting, most body people would tell you it will be easier to get a better finish on metal I think, plus you will not have to worry about it cracking out later, and you will add stiffness as mentioned.
  17. If you stay with the 240SX offset wheels, then they will fit under ZG's with room to spare. If you go with a more traditonal RWD offset (zero or so) I think it will be tight. I waited quite some time for the CF ZG's (from Classic Datsun), but finally had to move on..... Jason
  18. Tractor Supply, clearance on a display 135 when the 140 came out, I also think I got lucky in that they thought parts were missing, but when they finally found the box, everything was there. Not very often, but every now and then I get lucky like that......
