  1. That would be Shockwave the jet truck. Very impressive.
  2. I'll probably end up going with black but I'm not sure what color to make it yet. Apparently I have a few options, I would just paint it but I dont want to have to strip and paint it every other season.
  3. What coating would you recommend? I bought a used cooler and threw it in the blaster to get the old crappy paint off but now I have a natural aluminum intercooler and I'd like to protect it from the elements. I'm sure the natural metal would conduct the heat best but I dont want it to start corroding either. What should I coat it with? Regular paint? High temp paint? Powdercoat? Anodize? Something else? What's the recommendation?
  4. btw, I know the F1 doesnt have a 1000hp engine. I worded it wrong, very wrong.
  5. Work's that boring eh? I know the feeling! Wheels look good though!
  6. I want a street version! not that I could afford that either but it'd be fun!
  7. I know, I'm really early but it was too good of a deal! I just picked up a 2.3L Turbo engine for her '87 Mustang. The car was bought new by my Grandma and didn't get used a whole lot. Then it went to my Brother as his first car and got a little roughed up along the way. When he moved to Ukrane and got married he sold it to my Mom. Where it sat for a couple of years until my car started acting up and I've been driving it since. It currently has 94,000miles but since its been sitting outside most of its life it shows its age. I've been slowly rebuilding it as I have the time and money. She's done a lot for my Brothers and I, so she really deserves a nice car. I found the engine when I wasn't really looking and at $56 for everything but the turbo, how could I pass it up? I've already got my brothers chipping in for a rebuild kit so I hope come christmas I can at least give her a good looking engine if not have it installed. Its already got the 2.3L and a five speed, the turbo should give it a little more guts and it'll still be fairly fuel efficient so she can drive it during the summer as much as she wants! Sorry for the mini rant, but I'm just too excited! I still cant believe I got such a good deal!
  8. Now that's Puuurdy! I'm starting to like those candy powdercoats more than anodizing!
  9. Yeah, I was afraid of that. Is there any issue with putting the IAT after the fuel injectors or does it need to be before them? I am probably just going to put it in front of the carbs for ease and disguiseablility
  10. That was a good read, I'll have to keep tabs on that. From the jist I'm getting is that I need to put the IAT right before the fuel injection point which is acctually really easy for me so I'll probably put it there. The only other issue I have is that the fuel is injected before the throttle plate so basically before the TB like was being said.
  11. I've been tinkering away at this project. I've just about got the new piston drawings done so I can start machining them. I hope by spring this will be up and running. I wanted to get it running on carbs for the drive to my house (its in storage right now) but that's just not going to happen, so trailer it is.
  12. I was kidding, although there are a few other parts I might need coated.
  13. Drag, What's that?? interesting color scheme btw, very 70's
  14. I'm going to call around on monday and get prices for each option, for some reason people close up shop on the weekends, amazing right?
  15. I've been looking over the processes for the anodizing and I could do it myself but I just dont want to deal with all those chemicals for a one shot deal. Sure I might get stuff anodized later on but I have no plans to do it so why spend the money on setup. I can do a lot of the work myself, I have access to a blaster and I can do the polishing no problem. I'm going to do some calling around to see what local shops can get this work done, hopefully they wont gouge me too bad. btw, I've always wondered what you use to mask off powdercoat? Is it just masking tape you do you use something special?
  16. Ah, got it. Isn't this also considered a sequential twin turbo system? I'm pretty sure I asked about it a while ago. I seem to remember there is a japanese sports car that runs one of these, supra maybe? Either way, I'll have to keep an eye on your build.
  17. I've been going over my build list and plans for my projects and I got an idea for the rims on my daily driver. I would like to get them blasted back to bare metal then polish certain areas and have those areas anodized red then powdercoat the rest black and maybe a polish the lip. I was wondering if its acctually possible to combine the processes and what order I should do them in. I have a vague concept of how they are done but I'm not sure about the specifics. I know there are some powdercoat guys around so I was hoping you could give me a rough estimate on the cost of doing four rims. I can provide a picture to give you an idea of what I'm looking at doing. Also, if I need to stick with one process, is there a way to get powdercoat to look like anodizing? I can do it all in paint but these processes give a much tougher finish and for rims that might be a good thing.
  18. I watched the ALMS on Speed today and that gave me a ton of oddball ideas, I'll be drawing all night at this rate! Unfortunately, my camera went MIA and the closest scanner I have access to is a 30min drive so I'll post them as soon as I can.
  19. Couldn't you rig up the turbos to a Y (one on each leg) then as the rpm comes up feed in the larger turbo with the waste gate? At high rpm exhaust would flow through both turbos, more through the larger one due to the least path of least resistance thingy. But I suppose at that point it would be just like a twin turbo setup but with unbalanced turbos. I dont know, I'm just thinking out loud.
  20. I used to have a couple of pics on my computer of a computer generated 240z that was black, had subtle flares and a real wicked look. My computer has since crashed and I lost most of my pics. If anyone has it stored away or can give me a link I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
