  1. I had the Pulse video tape and I wasn't very happy with it. No Roger Waters and the audience sings-a-long on some of the songs. Didn't get watched much - and this is from a Pink Floyd fan that has EVERY album every released (including some UK imports), and I saw the Wall - twice. I'll still buy hoping Gilmore's re-mixing cleans up some of the issues I had with the original VHS.

  3. I've had nothing but bad luck with MSD boxes. It must tell you something when the manufacturer recommends installing two of them to get race length reliability.
  4. With the spring rate you mention the rebound valving will probably be too stiff even at its lowest setting. The shock might tend to pack down the spring over a series of bumps on the street. The spring rates (too low a rate for the Konis) and the price.

    LSD carriers

The LSD carriers I was familiar with were about the size of a postage stamp and had a little Disney character stamped on them. I remember one particular bad night with Goofy... AFAIK the following sell or have sold LSD units for the R200: Nissan Motorsports NISMO Quaife Kaaz ? PowerBrute Torsen/Gleason
  8. I just got off the phone with Jeff at Rotary Power and, based on his testing with pressure and IR sensors, the XSPOWER design as pictured does get a good, even flow through the core. I stand corrected. Also, here's some of the original research on pressure drop through an intercooler: http://ntrs.nasa.gov/archive/nasa/casi.ntrs.nasa.gov/19930085468_1993085468.pdf
  9. I don't know why there's so much confusion regarding air flow through an intercooler. 1. Air is a fluid just like water. 2. Fluids will always flow from high to low pressure taking the path of least resistance. 3. The primary factors regarding the rate of heat exchange are surface area and time. Given these three "truths" how efficient do you think an intercooler is when both the inlet and outlet are on the same side?
  10. Doesn't matter. Do what looks nice to you. If the rotors are vented and the internal venting has a pattern then follow the manufacture's directions. If no directions, the vanes should trail the hubs like this: /
  11. Drew, Put the tools down and walk away from the suspension. The very next thing you should do is buy a shop manual for the S30 and read it.
  12. You might want to check and see if it has a repalceable battery. Some of the solar powered helmets I've seen have a battery as a backup to the solar power unit. When the backup battery is drained it takes time for the solar power unit to work.
  13. 1.5 .083. You need some kind of a diagonal brace in the rear hoop to keep it from racking in a roll over. A single diagonal within the plane of the main hoop is what SCCA requires. FIA regulations allow an X in the rear braces. Yes. You don't need one up high because of the cowl box. You'll just be adding weight. You need one down low that crosses on top of the trans tunnel. Adding a plate and connecting it to the trans tunnel is a good idea. You can also run the knee bar forward at an angle and connect it to the firewall where the trans tunnel and firewall meet. The purpose of this bar is to keep the front legs of the cage from bending inward as the floor buckles in a side impact. You are trying to spread the loads of a side impact to the other side of the car via the cage. The area between the rocker and trans tunnel in front of the seat mounts is weak and a side impact tends to buckle the floor pan - crushing feet and legs. BTW... the low doors bars you have in your design need a knee bar to keep them from crushing inward in a side impact. Personally, I won't install those kind of door bars in a customer car unless there is a knee bar as part of the cage.
  14. That would not be a legal SP car. You must run a glass windshield (and all other stock glass), full interior, and stock metal body panels.

    header question ?

You are making the primaries 2" or 2.25"? What mods have you done to the engine?
  16. A couple suggestions: 1. Add a knee bar under the dash connecting the front cage downtubes. This helps prevent the front of the pan and the door bars from crushing in a big side impact. 2. Reinforce the front ARB mounts.
  17. A fully prepared Street Prepared category Solo2 car is not street legal and would be difficult to drive on the street. Most run extremely lightwieght flywheels and multi-disc 5.5" OD clutches, aftermarket EMS, high spring rates, multi-adjustable shocks, etc. But, you don't have to prepare the car to the limit of the rules. Go to http://www.scca.org and download the Solo2 rule set under the "Solo" category. Yup. Rules require NA. "Typical" SP legal weight reduction is around 15% of the original vehcile weight. I'll be corner weighing the car on Wednesday 7/12.
  18. And no, I'm not going to name the car "Succubus."
  19. Well, unfortunately, engine mods are way down the list since I'm a chassis/suspension guy. Here's the basic plan: 1. At 2,500 miles corner weight the car and run it on a chassis dyno to baseline everything. 2. Give it the best performance alignement possible with stock components. 3. Measure to see if 285/30-18 Kumho V710s will fit all around (I think they might.) 4. Custom 18 x 10s from Kodiak. 5. Start autocrossing the car in BSP. 6. Develop suspension/chassis mods within the SP rule set. 7. Baseline the car against the national level BSP competition (Bob Tunnel's M3, Jason Uyeda's S2K, Buetlow's C4 Corvette). 8. Start a serious weight reduction program. 9. Start a serious SP legal engine development program. 10. Wonder what possesed me to tear a part a perfectly good car and spend thousands of dollars on it.
  20. Bought one on Saturday. Pearl white base model. Time to see how fast I can make one of these...
  21. And you would lose to the guy that took the trouble to do both. Preparation, preparation, preparation...
