  1. So the yolk must be swapped and he'll be good to go? That's it? That sounds easy enough. Thanks, Pete. Davy
  2. Yes, I have a suggestion: Don't throw away the dash, but fill in the cracks with Bondo or whatever and then overlay the dash with carbon fiber. There is an article about CF at http://www.bryanf.com/info/carbon2.htm and look at the overlayed dash--that would be a trick way to go and it would NEVER crack. I would first practice on something else first, then do the dash. Buy some books on the subject as well. Good luck. Davy
  3. Ah, my bad; thanks for the correction, Mike. Even better for BLKMGK and everyone else if no spacers (or minimal ones) are needed. I believe that the 'Ford' bolt pattern is the same size used by last gen RX7s and Toyota Supras. The availability of wheels is quite good, especially with all the new ones coming from Japan. Hey, The Fast and the Furious did have a positive impact on the aftermarket and increased demand for wheels. This can only help us. Davy
  4. The JTR manual is specific for the 1st gen Z's (240Z,260Z,280Z) but the book can help with planning any conversion. The mounts and other products do not apply to the ZX. MSA has some ZX mounts and equipment for a V8 conversion. Davy
  5. Adam, if you can post a pic, please do. Davy
  6. First off, welcome to the forum! I think it is safe to say that everyone who has JTR mounts has been happy with them. In fact, some guys like Long Ta have converted over from a 'Scarab-type' of mount to the JTR version. Just food for thought. As for $$$$ on motors, the sky is the limit. Use the search function in the Chevy forum to get the answers you need there. EFI is fine and JTR has a book on swapping TBI/TPI motors. Buy the books and read them before buying any parts (word to the wise). Davy
  7. I like the idea a lot! This sounds like a better way to go considering the circumstances. You don't have anything against Fords do you? Davy
  8. Nion, If this is the full cage (not sure), they fit just OK IMO. I have seen either the MSA one or the Autopower unit (could be the same one) and they are decent. However, from talking to companies like I/O Port racing who carry the Autopower rollcage, they hinted that a weld in cage would be better. Davy
  9. Go to BLKMGK's site and look what he did regarding wheels. He converted to 5-lug and bought rims that fit a Mustang 5.0---he did use spacers (if I remember correctly) and the wheels look good. Ross Corrigan's www.modern-motorsports.com sells the adapters. Davy
  10. You can also look at a Honda Del Sol. This is a pretty cool idea, and I would try to keep it as light as possible, unless you want the power window from the Del Sol Davy
  11. ZCarNut, Thanks for posting that very helpful info!! I made sure I included it in my library. Davy
  12. Great to hear you are working on a decent project. Sorry I can't help you on the weight difference or speedo cable, but I'm guessing that the 240Z is at least 500 lbs lighter than the ZX. Davy
  13. Ooooh, Van, that sounds really wicked. Make sure you post some pics if you can of the build up along the way. Blowers always get my heart beating faster and put a smile on my face. Davy
  14. I know. But with what I have in the engine, and with the budget I have, the hp is right in there. The heads will get replaced as will the camshaft--but right now I have a decent warmed-over motor that will do wonders for a Z. What I would like to do is build a hot 355, 377, or 383 with a Scat 9000 superlite crank, H-beam rods, and AFR heads. That would be a hoot. Davy
  15. According to my reseach, the 350 should pump out about 300 hp at the flywheel. With better, higher compression heads, the hp goes to about 375 or so. Anymore, and I'm dreaming or feeling really optomistic. Davy
  16. Looks like a winning combination. I even like the color of your car Davy
  17. What 'kit' will you be using to install the motor in the car, or do you have a converted car already and will merely be replacing the motor? Davy
  18. They (headewrs) will fit if you use their V8 swap kit or something like it (Scarab). If you have the JTR conversion, the headers will not work. Davy
  19. JTR says no; that it will burn itself out. Davy
  20. Henry, Eric Neyerlin of Zparts is looking at making a kit for Z's. Use the search function of the forum and you'll dig up all the old posts and information. Davy http://www.zparts.com/selectzp.html
  21. Don't throw away the Peeler. It works on most paints and especially suspension components. Sorry that it did not work on the Imron. Thanks for the info, though! Davy
  22. You won't see many with the front end, because it does not allow the use of (stock) headlights. Otherwise, the kit looks maaavelous! Davy
  23. My useful info list keeps growing. Thanks! Davy
  24. quote: Originally posted by jeromio: I'll add my flava to this thread: ...Remember to put the "L" caliper on the passenger side and the "R" on the drivers. Jeromio, isn't the left side of the car the driver's side, and the right side is the passenger side? Do they need to be reversed in this procedure? Just asking to clarify this for me. Thanks. Davy
