  1. What do you guys think? Should I just maintain the list off HybridZ or shall we make some sort of sticky?
  2. They did not. First LSD for a Z car was the 1987 300zx Turbo. My most recent 240z purchase leaves two black marks, it is the stock R180 open (confirmed by axles turning freely when jacked up in the air).
  3. I think the LSD is definitely a must investment at your power levels. Adding more power is nice, but not if you can't hook. I have noticed that too, why is that?
  4. Hmm, I can't seem to find a link. It runs a 7:38 though IIRC, but some people think they ended or started the time inappropriately. Also the video doesn't mention the vehicle setup. LINK:
  5. I would try it. I highly doubt it will be more bang for the buck, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be done.
  6. I also find it amusing that there is so much talk about record breaking... yet the GT-R isn't even here yet. ALL of the magazine numbers are estimates... edmunds was the only one to do any testing and that was on a Japanese individually owned car. There is a ring video floating around, but it isn't independent. Why don't we all just wait and see what records it breaks when it comes out. Until then it is all hearsay. Don't get me wrong though, I hope it delivers.
  7. Just a comment about the Toyota 4x4 vented setup, on my past set of Rota 16x8" wheels I DID have clearance issues. The issue spawned from the brake literally being too small, so the caliper was too close to the center of the hub where the meat of the wheel is. I decided to upgrade to 12.2" brakes, alternatively, a small (5-8mm) spacer would have corrected the problem or I could have ground down the extra iron on the calipers, or the aluminum of the wheel. As for these wheels clearing stock springs. I would think that they should. Check post #60 image 4. There was 5/8"-3/4" of clearance between the mock wheel and my coil over spring perch. The coil over perch is ~3.5" OD. If you could measure your spring perch OD that would be appreciated. This setup should clear a 4.75"-5" OD spring perch.
  8. This is probably easier to read: http://www.autolounge.net/DatsunVendors.htm I would like to keep it on this site though (and editable... although someone would have to watch a thread to maintain it).
  9. Alright, well I will just start dumping links here and eventually maybe it can end up as a sticky: Aeroworks - http://www.shop.retro-spec.net Arizona Z Car - http://www.arizonazcar.com Betamotorsports - http://www.betamotorsports.com Black Dragon Automotive - http://www.blackdragonauto.com JSK Innovations - http://www.jskinnovations.com Modern Motorsports - http://www.modern-motorsports.com Motor Sport Auto - http://www.zcarparts.com Outlaw Brakes - http://www.outlawbrakes.com/brakes.html PDK Fabrication - http://www.pdkfabrication.com Reaction Research - http://www.reactionresearch.com/automotivedetails.htm Too Intense Restoration - http://www.datsunrestore.com ZFiberglass - http://www.zfiberglass.com I think it is also a good idea to exclude vendors that do not offer Datsun specific products (such as wheel and tire suppliers).
  10. I really don't think the Ebay stuff is just bubble wrap sandwiched. I think the main difference is that the Ebay stuff can take a load. If you look at the cross section it is more like the memory foam stuff (as you noted). What is attractive to me about it really is the weight... at 2 lbs for 40 sqft... that sure as hell beats out Dynamat Extreme (the light one) which is around 14lbs for the same size, Dynamat normal is around 28lbs for 40 sq.ft! At the same time if Dynamat works that much better...
  11. Okay. So I let the representative know about the past issues with the center caps not fitting on the fronts and asked if there is an optional larger size or if he could supply some advice. He replied basically saying that "the cap is big enough to cover the hub". Hopefully it is true. If I am supplied with some dimensions I could forward them to him to make it "crystal clear". I am dubious as well. Just looking at them it is hard to imagine a normal cap that WOULD fit.
  12. Nissan Patrol TB48DE... 99.5mm bore = 3.92" It makes 241hp @ 4800 and 294lbft @ 3600. Not sure if that is really much better than stock... might be a camshaft swap away though from big power.
  13. Do you think we could get a sticky in the Vendors Forum (or where ever appropriate) that contains a list of vendors websites and their URL's? I was thinking of just making a web page with these links, but I feel it would be better to just keep it in the Hybridz forum to make it searchable, easy to reach, and such. I used to have about ~30-50 different Z suppliers websites saved (all the way from arizonzcar.com to ztrix.com) and now they are all gone after my computer crashed. Good idea? Bad idea? Thanks!
  14. Out of curiosity 280Zone, what do you make?
  15. I am sorry to hear that too. I often feel like communication with these manufacturers is less than stellar. I have never been screwed though. EDIT: I did receive the rear brake kit though and it is of great quality and came quickly. The same was true when I ordered the fronts.
  16. I was just alerted by the distributor that center caps ARE included in the wheel purchase. In the past only the rear center caps have fit our vehicles. I suspect that will be the same on this batch. With out the hub dimensions though there is not much I can do about it. Also, in this situation I think it better to simply focus on getting the wheels all squared away anyway. If center caps is shown to be a big deal I am sure I can look into it. In my opinion though we should tackle these wheels first. I wouldn't know where to begin on the center cap fitment.
  17. The best bet (that I know of) is to wait for a ring and pinion to become available on Ebay. If not your probably going to need to go to the pick--n-pull or buy a complete R200 and take the gears from that... The carrier does not determine what gears are used.
  18. I am in the process of buying a FG air damn from Paulo. We shall see...
  19. PDK makes a fiberglass dash, I would be interested in one that was more "street orientated" though. One that used the stock mounting points.
  20. 4.38" - Interesting. So 5.6L Titan heads might be close... Now where do you get Titan Heads?
  21. I know about the VK, but what is the bore spacing? The new Boss motor is spaced at 4.53" or so IIRC which isn't close enough or even available yet.
  22. The Porsche head might really be the best bet... just kind of sucks - hard to find. I can't find the bore centerline either. Ducati 999 uses a 100mm bore... But you would need 4 bikes worth of heads and they are each separate cylinders. :/
  23. With axles, thats great. Usually P-N-P wants $65 for diff, +$35 a side for axles. Remember these were $25 two years ago: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=006&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=160204849337&rd=1
