Yes please, I am sure others will be interested in your pics also. If the pindle is stuck will voltage usually unstick it?

Should have said, the engine is currently on an engine stand and wont be going into the car for another month or so. So I cant test with fuel, and I am also going MS.

I just fitted my professionally cleaned injectors 280ZX Turbo 265cc (low impedence) to the fuel rail and noticed that one of the pins in the nozzle was further in then the rest of them. I thought nothing of it and then proceeded to fit it all onto the intake manifold. I then got talking to somone and wondered why it was like that, and I was told it may be defective, so I decided to test the injectors with a 9 volt source. I found 3 of them clicked loudly, 1 clicked very faintly and the other 2 didnt click at all. But I also don't understand why some of them are not clicking. My battery is fresh also, so it can't be that. Prior to installing them I did drop one of the injectors on the floor by accident, but luckily I still had the protective end cap on it, visual inspection seemed ok, but i didnt check the nozzle pin. Now I can understand if this one went bad, but what about the others? Appreciate any thoughts on this. Shall I test with a 12V battery? Is it ok to not use a dropping resistor? All thoughts appreciated.

Thanks a lot Greg. Wasn't considering one, but will look into it now.

I wanted something which wouldnt need a lot of wiring, hence the turboxs just requires a switch a ground and a live. Are the EBCs hard to wire up, what is involved. Thanks for the input.

I agree with that, but these kids were past that stage.. They needed proper counselling. Their parents/families had already failed them and it's up to the state to take over.
-
A bloody sad story all round. Someone has let these kids down, let them down to the extent that they had to turn to serious vandalism, arson for kicks.. I am sorry they shot themselves too, these were very sick kids who needed to be insitutionalised by the sound of it.

Guys, I am thinking of purchasing this, do any of you have any experience of them? I like the idea of running on low boost for every day driving, and when i want higher boost then I can flick a switch. Your thoughts appreciated. Cheers.

Thanks very much Matt, very much appreciated. I'm sorry guys for the unsystematic approach at times, it is very overwhelming for me but the more i read, talk to people, and play around the better it becomes. I'm not really that great with computer technology so this is a major mountain for me, and thanks again for your patience. I am a quick learner though and have every will to conquer this mountain...

Ok my bad, i worked out what I did wrong.. I never activated the msns-extra.ini.029C. This has been done now and I only have 39 warnings written in the Audit file, so getting there....

Thank you very much guys. I uninstalled Megatune and you were correct, I did not have it set to MSN Extra on the Code Variant section , I have now set it to MSN Extra. I have gone down the list and made the relevant changes to the other setting on that page also and pressed SAVE! But now, when I double click the Megatune icon on my desktop I get a pop up warning box. "ERROR:Megatune.ini:0034 - The included file 'MSnS-extra.ini' could not be opened. MegaTune is terminating." It will now not open MegaTune for me, unless I Uninstall and reinstall it. Help!

Hey guys, Let me be the first to admit that I have read and re-read the MS bible but I am still having problems. So far i have a preassembled MS I with V3.0 board purchased from DIYAutotune. I also asked them to perform the mod so i can directly fire the coil from my MS. I have therefore not Flashed the firmware on the ECU since they state that this is what you need to do to perform the mod.. See... Using the MS-I PCBv3 with MSnS-E firmwarehttp://www.diyautotune.com/tech_articles/how_to_megasquirt_your_280zx_turbo.htm The first problem which I have encountered is that I have downloaded Megatune and i have also downloaded a friends MAP and when I open it, Megatune opens and says..." "although the file was read successfully, there were 477 warnings written to the audit.log file, you may want to review that first befire you send and burn the data." How does one review the Audit log? I have tried opening it by going into the folder but when I open it I cant seem to find how it is reviewed. I have also tried deleting it to start over again, and it deletes only to reappear once Megatune is run again. I have tried deleting it many times and low and behold it reappears. I also plugged in my MS 1 into my PC with the Stimulator connected and I received the following message: "Controller Code Version does not match signature in Megasquirt-I.ini (see Audit log for where the above file was found) Expected "0x14" (found in ini file) Received "" (from controller) Table corruption may occur, this is usually a very serious problem Terminate Megatune now?" Please can someone help me decipher, in lay mans terms, what exactly is going on and what I should do next. Thank you.

Thanks for the responses. I like where you have yours Braap but my battery is located there so I may fit it on the other corner, directly opposite to where you have yours mounted.
-
Thanks for the idea, I should have pointed out that I am from the UK and your passenger side is our drivers side. So i guess there may not be room with the steering colum and all the other wiring under their. Did you mount it in the cabin, so its away from moisture and heat etc?
-
Thanks for the kind offer Vash, but I went for the easiest solution which MS could offer, and that was their ASSEMBLED RELAY BOARD, yeah i never even bothered to build it either Looking forward to joining you MS boys soon.
-
Thank you very much for the picture, sounds like a nice place to mount it. Is that your own relay board you made? It doesn't look like the MS one I have, for starters yours has more fuses.
-
Guys, I performed a search and couldnt find anything, I apologise if i missed it. Where would the best place be to locate my relay board? I have been advised that most people put it in the engine bay, but I am a little concerned since the relay board does not come with any cover, and may get dirty in the bay. Should i not be concerned? I was thinking that it might not be a great idea to place the board close on the inner fender which is opposite the exhaust manifold due to heat and it would be preferable to place on the oil filter side of the bay. Thoughts experiences etc... Appreciated! Thank you.

It's going to be worth the wait. Same thing with my build, its taken soo long but soon she will be alive! Glad to see you're nearly there, you have been really patient with this and the thrill is now only around the corner. Will have my fingers crossed for you.

Thanks very much.

Great research guys. Someone gave me a tip to fit it in the third runner of the Intake manifold. There is already a hole there for the stock BOV and you just need to retap it. Which brings me onto my next question, i know i need a 3/8" TAP.. does it matter how many threads per inch it is? I saw one on ebay 3/8" TAP No. 18.. would this one work? Thanks.

Anyone running 15x 10" rear rims?
24OZ replied to 24OZ's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
No problem Mike. Anyone else? What is the minimum tire I would need any issues with handling with wider wheels and tires? Thanks folks. -
A guy in my area can do me a deal on these wheels: They are 15x 10" at the rear and 15 x 7" at the front the inner wheel clearance is 352mm, the front have negative offset 1.5mm the rear have negative offset of 38.5mm The are Z bolt pattern and I am considering them for my 280ZX. How much wider would I have to modify the rear arches? Can I run them without coilovers? I am worried that it might not look good having such wide tires at the rear so I'd appreciate your comments. If anyone has any pics of a similar set up so i can see how wide it looks, it would be appreciated also.

Thanks for the reply Moby. I was thinking about putting the IAT into the J pipe or intercooler pipe (no IC just yet though) just before the throttle body. Will do a search and see why others dont like that idea in favour of tapping into the manifold instead.
-
Guys, I still have a lot of reading to do on MS, and I hope you can help me out as I am about to put my engine back in the car and havent been able to find this out, yet. All i have left to do is to bolt on the intake manifold, whilst it's off do any sensors for MS need to be taped in, as this would be the ideal opportunity to do it. Thanks.

Hi Mario, I looked on Blue's Tech Tips but couldnt locate this article, do you recall where I could find it. Thank you. George
