  1. It is possible but you will better off with 280zx distributor. If you use last one you should chane ignition coil form 280zx too or use MSD blaster 2 coil about $30 from Summit.Good luck
  2. If you use 280zx ignition coil with E12-80 module then connecta +12V supply to the "B" terminal on the distributor IC module, then connect the module's "C" terminal to the coil's negative terminal.Done. If you have E12-92 module, then just leave 2 wire plug on the bottom empty.
  3. I'm planning to install new set up on my '73 Tokicos(blue) and either Euro or Eibach springs. I red article about turbo 240z in Sport Z Magazine fall issue and they mention that they switch from Euro springs to coil overs.I also remeber article in old Z car magazine about 280Z with 300zxtt engine and the owner switched from euro to Eibach because they were softer during street use and better under hard driving condition. Does anyone has experience with Euro springs? Are they worth time and money? What do you guys think is better for weekend n/a weekend car? I forgot to mention that i want to put new urethane bushings too.Thank you for all responces. And yes, i used search option, but didn't find anything about this topic.
  4. Tony, I was wondering about the same swap.Unfortunatly there is not enough information about it.I think current price of VQ35DE is what stop people.Couple years from now, those engiens could be found in yards who specialize on inport cars.Until then prepare to spend A LOT OF MONEY to get engine, tranny, sensors, ets. Right now it's more easy just to get LT1 with tranny of your choice and get almost same HP in basic engine or spend extra and get your desired hp and torque from well documanted swap.Or go for L28 turbo set up.So we have to wait until someone who can afford this swap now, or spend next few years to gathering information and updating our brakes, suspension, and looking for LSD. As for is it possible, well i think everything is possible.Time is on our side.
  5. Guys,i need help on this one.I don't know if i need these bump-steer spacers for my 240z.I plan to install Euro stage I springs and Tokico non-adjastable struts with 15' swastika rims. I think for springs from MSA or SS or Eibach i need spacers, but with Euro... don't know.Any suggestions? Thanks ahead for help. David
  6. Hi there, To be honest i wouldn't go to V8 or Turbo project with badget which you have. But it's me.It all depends how much you can do on your own and if you have a place where this work can be actually done.Onece your Z will have a different engine there are many other things which you have to update to keep everything right.Such project starts look like snow ball:new engine, new suspension, new brakes, new cooling, updating interior, ets.I just think if your goal is more hp and torque then you have to do everything right. Also it depends how rusty your car is and don't forget that early Z need body reinforsment. You have to keep in mind that doing swap can take your time and you can end up without your daily driver for unknow time.Having said this you will be the one who will make a decision.Just write everything your car needs and how much work you can do then calculate,if you see it's over then $2000 do yourself a favor and wait for better time, if you will be under budget go for it, people here will help you with problems you will run into. If you are not able to acomplish your Z dream maybe you will use money which you have for a downpayment for a new car, but keep your Z and slowly start to collect parts which are nessesary for update, look here and on other Z sites,E-bay actions for bargains and when you have nessesary parts start your project. If you absolutely have to have Z as a daily driver sell your ride add another 2000 and you will be able to end up with good daily driven Z, as long as you are in South CA you are able to find good 240-280 in 3K price range,or you can buy damaged 280zxt and swap engines. All you have to do be honest with yourseld and calculate what you can do and for what you have to pay.All i can add every project will consume more money which you initially expected you would spent.Good luck!
  7. Hi everyone.I hope you guys help me with my problem.I have leather Mazda RX7 seats in my 240z ,they have no tears, but look kinda used, i'd like to paint them in burgundy satin as i did with interior pannels and door pannels, but i'm not sure what paint i should use on those leather seats,i preffer something in cans,as long as i can pull seats on my own paint them and put back.Any advices? Thanks in advance!
  8. Keep in mind that in such combo your L28 engine will have 2569cc.
  9. Not 100%,If you look into engine programm L28 has +0.030 deck height, so it's normal.Above it,honestly i don't know and don't wanna know.negative deck height also depends on the numbers. For me, i thought if Nismo sells 2mm head gasket and this gasket was used on L28 engine then total off 2mm distance between piston at the top center and head is ok.In combo which i mention there is -1.37 deck height and 1mm head gasket which gives you 2.37mm distance.I think it will work out just fine, again this is my opinion.
  10. + deck height- piston at the top center protrudes from the block( comes out into combustion chamber of the head) - deck height -piston at the top center doesn't hit the top of the block ( stays inside of the cylinder/block ) Not the best expalnation but i hope you got an idea.
  11. Yes you will have problems with such combo too.If you want to have a stroker without diesel crank, here is your combo: L28 F54 block L24 9mm rods L28 crank KA24 pistons E31/88 head 1mm HKS head gasket this give you engine of 2949cc andCR of 9.56:1 with E31 and 9.23:1 with E88. This is with flat top KA24 pistons if you have dished ones CR will drop to 7.79:1 and 7.58:1 respectively.Keep in mind that this combo requires overbore of block on 3mm, and block must be sonic tested before going to build this engine.
  12. I will try to answer on your question,in case i'm wrong others will correct me.Turbocharger has nothing to do with CR of your engine. With turbo you can't run high CR and this how it should be.(well at least in L series nissan engine). Most of people run from 7.8 to 8.3 CR with turbo, and i think 7.9-8.1 is the ratio to have when we are talking about abome mention set up.With N/A in daily driven car you should be fine with CR below 10.0.Pinging is the problem for high CR engines which run on low octane gas. Ok,next is your combo,L24 rods are not a good idea, because 2.8 dished pistons from L28 will have clearance problem ( deck height of 2.73 ) You have to remeber that CR depends on head gasket thickness, and depending if you are using Felpro or HKS 1mm or 2mm you will alter CR. If you want to build a stroker then you have to change something in your combo, because in a way you have now i don't think it will work out.Sorry.
  13. I have the same problem as you have.I run L28 with E88 and ZTherapy SUs,engine is dieseling almost every time as i turn it off.I figure out that the reason for this is excessive heat under the hood, because i tried to shut off engine with hood open and it was normal,no dieseling whatsoever.I switch to 280z ventilated hood, little bit better, but still have a problem.Next step is putting electric fan.SummitRacing has one for about $80 MrGasket,CFM close to original.I should mention that i have now an extra one pusher type from 200sx,but this one and original didn't help.So next step if electric fan will not help,i'll go to Stant 160 degree thermost or i might do it at the same time.I also thought of a header blanket ,as long as my header doesn't have jet hot protective coating. Not sure about exhaust jacket or header blanket though, but MSA catalog say that header wrap decreses temperature under the hood up to 70 degrees. The only thing my 240z is not my daily driver and right now i don't sufficient funds to go all the steps, have to feed my new business,so if you find something else let me know how to cure this problem.
  14. There was an article about an year ago in Turbo magazine about a guy who put turbo engine in rodster .I think he had 240sx 4 cyl engine.I am sure i have this article at home,i'll try to find it and send you a copy if you are interesting. If so send me e-mail to HitScan@aol.com.
  15. You can check www.Zhom.com ,there is an article which has all answers on all your questions about stroke engines
  16. Hi,your engine is running after you turn your ignition switch off because it has to much CR.Here is the formula and you can count yourself:Swept volume+gasket thickness volume+head cc volume divide that number by gasket volume+head cc volume+any dish volume. If you have flat top pistons you don't have any dish volume, head gasket cc is 7.47 E88 head cc volume is 44.7.But i think your head was shaved too much (happend to me) so you probably have to go to two head gaskets,or use high octane gas like 110.If you have more questions e-mail me DavD3@aol.com i'll try to help you .
