I'm planning to use 3.7 LSD and CV axels out of 280zxt,i have question regarding 280z vs 240z companiaon flanges and stubs. If i want L28et with about 280-300HP do i still need to update to 280z parts? Or original 240z stabs and flanges will hold.My plans for car doesn't include drag racing, just strret use, ocasionally autocross. Thanks, David
-
Are we talking about the same differentials? Because if 3.7 would be LSD vs. 3.5 open i think LSd will get better traction. Am i correct ??? David

Yes, that's excatly what dash cap is.By the way did anyone purchase one from e-bay? I think there two guys who sell them all the time. Thanks, David

I red somewhere black is the best to dissipate heat.

This swap was done. What you have to do is read an article on ZDriver.com, also do a search in this forum there should be a link to that article somehwre.

There are two links in Nontech forum in post BMW HYbrids, may be it will be useful.

I red an article last month about E55 in either Motor Trend or R&T,this car smoke new Vette too. If i had family of four and enough money i'd consider buying it,if i had family of two Porsche 911 the only choice for me,there is no substitue. So far i have only fiance and my 240Z weekend fun and Montero Sport for everyday But i made things clead with her that after this car is done 240zt is on it's way. If i won a lottery, gees, it would be hard, i'd ended up buying at least 5-8 cars such as: 911 Turbo, GMC Typhoon,MB AMG,Subary WRX ssi or Mits Evolution, BMW M3, '55 Chevy, 68 Chevy Camaro RS convert,'67 Vette....can't stop dreaming

Well, this is what i think. The main issue is not to Z or not to Z. The main issue is your family, your wife.If she is saying that you spend too much time with car she is missing you. As for Z, i think once you get Z bug it will stay forever, so you can come back to Z sometime in a future when situation will be more on Z side. Remeber you have all these parts but they have to go on a car, and everyone knows that when you do hybrid you will face probles and those need to be solve and it consumes time and this, my friend, means you will be away from your family again... for sometime. If you have funds to buy new Mustang and save those parts wich you accumulate for time go for it.If you need money to make a downpayment on Mustang sell the parts and get a new car.I'm sure everyone in your family will enjoy brand new car more then 20 years old ZX, and you can tell them how ZXT handels and accelerates better (if) for hours, but unless they were bitten by Z bug nothing will work. So in my opinion family is more important then Z,Mustangs,Camaros ets.You can have all cars later now catch up for that lost time with your love ones. And don't worry about loosing money if you sell parts, you will loose something, but on the other hand you will gain something too. By the end it's only up to you to decide which way you'll go.Everything above was just my own opinion.Just my .02

Hi guys, i was looking for parts on e-bay for my Z and i came across this engine.Owner claims it was in 240z and it has original 4 spd.I don't know how to post link but if you are interesting item #2428710736.Would be interesting if someone from this board ended up with it and we all can see the project in progress.

Somethimes excessive heat could be the reason for dieseling.I had this problem, and dicovered it excidently: with hood open there was no dieseling whatsoever, with closed hood, car was running and i had to shot it of by put it in 1st gear and release clutch. Swithching to 280z hood with vents helped. If you have headers maybe this is the reason.Just my .02

Gees, Jim, you are picking at the WRONG GUY!!!!! I don't really care about originality of my 240z, i just like VQ35de idea, and that's all, i like V8 in first generation either.Personally i don't really care if i had a Renault engine or american V8 in my car.I just want to have a nice 240z with powerful engine and nice handling set up as for originality you quote first time me and then diferent guy.And i moved here from Zcar.com because i don't plan to restore car to it original '73 condition. My project is almost over and now i'm thinking about getting second Z and have something interesting under the hood.V8/RB/SR/whatever i can afford and put together! And i think this is a great site for such idea. So next time please don't think that if someone asks questions about any Nissan product he is purist and wants everything to be Nissan only. Thanks!
-
JIm and PParaska,to be honest ,i have no idea what you are talking about. Using aftermarket ECU doesn't make car less Nissan, as well as using original ECU more Nissan ( at least for me ), it was just a one of the way i was thinking to solve problem. Many people use L28et with SDS and i don't think this set up is wrong or half Nissan or not Nissan at all.

I have tripple 40 Solex which i'm planning to put on my modified L28, the problem is i don't have intake for them. I've been told that i can use Canon intake but as far as i know Solex were build in Japan as Mikunis,so basicly they are the same carbs. So question is which manifold better and what is fare price for one with linkage? Also what is difference between short intake for Mikunis and long runners?
-
If VQ35DE have this ECU wich need the key to be activated, can we simply dump original one and use aftermarket one like SDS or Haltec? IMO couple years from now when used VQ35DE engines will be available at reasonable price many people will start thinking about such swap in Z cars.

Anyone know how old Tomahawk is doing? Is he out yet?

Hi guys, can anyone explain me what is the difference between those two sets.I know Mikuni use their own intake and Weber has Canon. But what is the difference in general and which set do you preffer and why. Thanks!
