Z-Gad
After 5-6 years of having the 2JZGTE in my 71 240z, I developed a rod knock last fall. I was going to pull the engine and rebuild it, but decided to make a change... I spoke with Scottie GNZ, and he graciously said, "I know you don't have the time or resources up there (being relatively new to the area up here), bring the car down here and I'll do the install". I spoke with my machinist in Orlando, told him I was wanting to do a built LS1 turbo, and he said, bring it down too... So, I sold all of my 2JZ parts, and began buying LS1 parts, packed up the car and parts and dropped them off in Orlando. I just picked up the car last week and I am grinning ear to ear General build is a GEN IV 6.0 block, Forged Pistons, Eagle rods, World Warhawk heads with inconnel valves, 595 lift cam, modified truck manifolds, single 3" full exhaust (all that would fit past the starter (for the street), and a straight 4" dump that exits in front of the right front tire for the track, Turbonetics 82mm turbo, 45mm Turbonetics wastegate, Treadstone intercooler, 1000cc injectors, stock LS1 intake and tb for now, Megqsquirt 3 EMS, compression is around 9.0:1, TH400 with straight cut gears and 3600 stall... BIG thanks to Scottie for all his tireless work, and to Dover Orlando for the sweet engine build.. Anyway, more to come as I get tuning and track times, and here are the pics ... texis30O
Wow! I am VERY interested to see what you end up using as your rear drivetrain. I am still in the build stages of my LS3/Magnacharger/T56 build and have not secured my rear diff/drivetrain set up yet. I opted to go with the manual as I want to be able to shift and be out on a road course. I look forward to seeing this thing flying down the road!!! VIDEOS!!!! Dans toy
Nice car. What kind of race tires do you think you'll run?
Zfan1
Beautiful ride, I remember your old set up and it was very impressive. The best of luck with her new set up, keep us up to date.
Z-Gad
Thanks all for the kind words!! Boost - 5 psi on the street and I can feel the single 3" exhaust choking it up, besides, anything more and it just blows the tires away. I intend to run up to around 20psi at the dragstrip, but I'll creep up on it Rear end - Techno-Toy-Tuning rear end setup with the Moser splines 300zxTT axles and 2.94 geared Armada R230 diff and 300zxTT LSD unit installed race tires - 26x11.5x15 ET streets and M/T frontrunners I will most certainly keep you all posted as the car progresses... I suspect Scottie will chime in with some expletives from the install LOL Edited July 9, 2013 by Z-Gad

Scottie-GNZ
Expletives? This is a family forum, isn't it? I'll keep them to myself, LOL. It was quite a challenge stuffing a 900+rwhp-capable turbo V8 in there while retaining the stock hood, giving it a full street exhaust, retaining the grille, retaining the big front swaybar, and minimizing cutting up the car. I have no doubt it is capable of running 8.50. My Mustang has gone 8.7 with only 17.5psi and this is 300lbs lighter and with a intake upgrade will make more power. It got my attention with a 5# WG spring and the WG turned off. Take your time dialing it in, Mike and be careful testing it on the street, especially with the DP uncapped. Turbo Meister
Very nice. I especially like the fact that you retained the stock hood. It's a real sleeper and it looks good.
SUNNY Z
Techno-Toy-Tuning rear end setup with the Mosier Sounds like a sweet setup. Now, pet peeve: there is NO I in Moser. Whew glad we got that out.
