nzarano
has anyone ever used one of those efi conversions for a four barrel carb on an l28? something like this http://www.jeep4x4center.com/tbi-kit-emissions-legal-304-360-401-v8-k247jpv8.html http://hamiltonfuelinjection.com/products/1-throttle-body-injection-kit.aspx
nzarano
the main reason being having an l28 bored in a 240z and avoiding having to deal with wiring up an efi harness
NewZed
Both of those options still use wires that need to be connected. You only save like four or five injectors worth of wire. Why don't you just go mechanical? http://www.arizonazcar.com/manifold.html
nzarano
for cold starts and if i change anything on the engine it adjusts so theres no need to keep fidling with carbs...
NewZed
you cant have efi without wiring.
skirkland1980
Wow that first kit is expensive. If you already have the 4bbl intake you could just get the tb from a salvage yard and a megasquirt kit and use and adapter to fit the tb to the intake. Also need an electric fuel pump that provides 13 psi. Edited November 13, 2014 by skirkland1980
Tony D
Yes, since at least 1991... Next question?
280zex
If you are capable of doing your own wrenching and modification, you could go get a CIS fuel delivery system from a1980's model VW and retro fit an old 4 bbl carb to fit the injectors. Even better if you found the right parts for cheap is find the old dual carb intake for the z, get 2 throttle bodies of the right size and retrofit the VW injection system to that. The stock VW CIS injection system is simple mechanical injection, and uses NO computer. Stock it is capable of supporting 200 engine HP. Even better is that Volvo had the same system but has 6 injectors instead of 4, so did older Ferrari sports cars. The CIS mechanical fuel injection system is the easiest fuel injection system in the world to work with.
z-ya
The other option is to get a GM TBI setup. You may have to make an adapter plate, but it would make a nice setup. When I built my superchaged setup a while back I used a TB from a Jeep and an adapter plate. I welded injector bosses in the manifold. It worked great until I melted some pistons on the track. z-ya
Yea, no easy way to intercool. IATs we getting close to 300F. The SC was so loud, you couldn't hear the detonation. Melted ring lands.

Project1
I use to use the TBI inject, that exact howel kit, on a jeep I had. It worked really well. The carb I had was very hard to keep tuned because of the ethanol in the gas is not always consistant.
