RB26240Z
Does anyone know where I can find the bracket that is attached to the deck lid where the strut mounts?
88dangerdan
If you're talking about these I believe I may have a couple. They're attached to the struts Let me know Daniel
Nelsonian
Would you be referring to the bracket on the right or left in the provided picture?
Nelsonian
I suppose it would help if I attach the pic.

Jay Gadsby
This is a good question. .. my 71 came with not a Damn thing on the hatch. No brackets at all. Normal?
djwarner
Jay, your 71 came with a single bracket that was spotwelded to the hatch frame. Over time the stress from the strut flexes the welds and causes them to fail. The fix involves filling through holes in the frame and bracket and securing with screws and bolts. I may have a spare one in the garage. You can get a new strut at autozone. There is a second bracket to secure the other end of the strut to the hatch near the lower cover. Do you need that one as well?
djwarner
Oops,... Drilling - not filling. Curse you auto correct.
Jay Gadsby
haha, yeah as of now I have nothing there. There was only the 4 striker pads for the lack of a better term. Two down near the deck and the other two farther up, about 5/8 of the way to the top. The hatch side has the two bolts in it where I am assuming the strut went, but no bracket there. Who knows what the PO did to this poor car. The taillights were rigged up with a brown extension cord and wire nuts.... he may have sold the brackets for crack for all I know. BluDestiny
Mine is like that as well. I see it as a good reason to convert to a fiberglass hatch and pins.
