trackzpeed
A little more work last night. Both headers bolted up and done... the drivers side slipped in easy from underneath once the steering rod was removed.
trackzpeed
Pics of the driver header and the current low hanging fruit..... The headers and oil pan hang just a hair below the cross member.... My car is lowered about 1.5-2 inches. Pretty pleased so far.
Richard Oben
With them there (as opposed to further back) most driveways and speed bumps should not be an issue. I do not have any marks on my cross member but the exhaust has a few scrapes on my other car. I know you have had initial remorse for the CXR kit do you still? I am still leaning that way, I guess we will know more when you get it fired up and the exhaust is on. Nice work, Richard.

trackzpeed
I need a little help/advise.... How do I hook up water temp to the stock Datsun Gauge???? I drilled and tapped the top of the water pump for the steam vent, and there is enough room to put the Datsun sending unit there as well, but im looking for a better/proven option. Thanks, Jim Edited September 16, 2015 by trackzpeed
Richard Oben
Pull the port on the other side of the engine in the head if there is room for the sender behind the header. Or there are companies (speedway?) that made adapters to fit the temp on the block by the crank sensor I think, either way it is under the head. HTH, Richard. alainburon
I think I may still have the JCI adapter for the water sending unit. It puts the sending unit in the block. Let me know if you want it and I can look for it. You can have it at no charge.

trackzpeed
Here is the shot of where I tapped for my steam vent..... I'm going to try and use the port on the passenger side head for water temp sending unit... JTR has a 1/2 and 3/8 NPT adapter for the Datsun sending unit, will either of these fit in that port? Thanks guys.
CableSrv
did you take the waterpump off before you drilled and tapped? or is there some way to not get metal shavings in the radiator flow?
trackzpeed
I started with it dry as a bone and drilled a tiny pilot hole.... use compressed air with lg bit to keep chips out until just before I started to break through then pulled the axle grease method on the drill and tap to keep it clean. going super hand slow with the drill helps alot as the housing peels off versus chips and is easy to manage. I'm confident I kept her clean....
Fullauto
Jim, Domsz had a thread on the stock sending unit. I followed his advice and threaded the sending Unit ..brass so really easy.. Then scrwed it right into the head....
Fullauto
Btw have you drilled your tunnel holes yet, Im about to test fit the motor n tranny for first time. Wondering if everthing still lining up really well Im cx kit too.
trackzpeed
The sending unit threading is brilliant! that will be up next. I have not drilled out the tunnel mounts yet since I was waiting to get my driveline in to check for angulation. It all looks pretty good so the mounts will be done this weekend as well. Thanks for the water temp sender suggestion. Jim
CableSrv
I bought both the water temp and oil temp brass adapters.. the oil will NOT work with normal oil pressure senders as the intake manifold is in the way. However the 12x1.25 brass adaptor for the water worked perfect for my gauges. I ended up using the aluminum bracket by the oil filter and drilling and tapping that for my oil pressure sender. Doing this tho... meant I had to dent my header as it was slightly in the way.
Fullauto
Thx Jim, on my stock oil sending unit im using an adaptor then a 12 inch 3an braided line then ill mount the stock sender on the Firewall.....havent seen this done but might look kinds cool. Kinda of a remote sending unit no clearance issues then..
